Smile SEPTEMBER-Nursing Mommies

Happy Labor Day!
I lost 5 lbs the month of August. Not the 10 lbs I lost in July - but I'll take it! I did make it to One-derland!!!! My biggest challenge has been snacking in the middle of the night when Kate gets up to nurse.
For September, I'm doing the Biggest Loser Challenge and setting my goal for 10 lbs this month.
How's everyone else doing?
Kim

Hi, I'm new here and so glad to find a thread for nursing mommies!

I never really had a problem with losing weight before I was a mom. It was always 5 or 10 pounds and I always crash dieted it off.

Now that I'm nursing I'm having a really hard time doing it the "healthy" way. Sticking to a diet plan has been really hard. I'm just so hungry all the time, and easily tempted by high-fat foods, and short on time with an 8 month old always needing me. What's worse is, I have 30 pounds to lose and I'm just really overwhelmed. I know what I need to do but getting there is so hard.

I just joined a gym and have been going a lot. I just really need to get my diet under control. If I lose about 2 pounds a week I can be at my ideal weight by baby's first birthday.

What is everyone else doing diet-wise?

I'm doing high-protein/good carb - kinda like South Beach, but designed by my nutritionist. And really working hard on getting at least 5 fruits/veggies in every day - that really helps fill you up - kind of a volumetrics way of thinking.

I'm doing FitDay.... just trying to make healthy choices and cut calories. Yesterday I entered everything and did well. Same goes for today. I find that if I have to record it i'm much less likely to eat extra junk....

I like Volumetrics. They're the ones who got me into the habit of adding a ton of veggies to my spaghetti sauce (a habit I need to get back into!). Good stuff. I still don't like soup, though.

Welcome Blue Sky, I just joined/started posting here about a week ago. I am using a pen and paper to count my calories (sometimes a calculator)
I lost almost 3 pounds in the past week which I am very happy about. It really helps to be here and be supported
Have a wonderful day everyone

I'm probably weird, but I find keeping track of my calories in a notebook to be much more convenient than doing it on the computer. Probably because it's much easier to take a spiral notebook into the kitchen with me than my laptop.

HOwdy-- newbie here. Mollie's 4.5 months old... I have to keep reminding myself I just had a baby and the weight's not going to fall off while I'm nursing. Glad to find this site. I think the name is hilarious!

Hi mom2Mollie, I have a 6yr old, 3yr old and 3month old...born 6/4
welcome!
Ok, now I have a question.....I weighed myself last Saturday and I was down to 169, I was so pleased with myself...then I weighed myself again yesterday morning and i was back at 174.8. I know I should not weigh myself so often but it normally is a good motivator to see a pound here or there. Why Why Why would it go back up so high. I did it again this morning just to check and see and there it was again at 174.8. I am only eating 16 to 1700 calories a day so i should be losing some weight slowly, but how could i gain that much weight back in just a few days?
P.S. I have had a very hard time losing weight while nursing in the past so I am trying to keep a closer eye on things this time because I would like to get down a few sizes before the baby weans. Any suggestions??? or just a little support
thanks all
Minnie
