Default For those who started at 200

Im curious about people who started out in the 200-220 range, what there calorie content was. And activity level. I still dont know where I stand with my calories. Ive lost about 2 pounds a week on 1200 calories with jenny craig but had no exersize what so ever. Now I want to try and get my cardio in everyday and weight training. With one day off. I think 1400-1500 sounds right but I sit down most of the day and that means that Iwould be basically eating all day, but keeping my calories in the range, how could I still lose weight???

So basically If your starting weight was around 200 pounds how many calories did you eat, what was the result, and how much exersize did you get in??

I started at 200 lbs. I ate around 1400-1600 calories a day and did a 45 minute aerobics tape 5 days a week. I lost the first 60 lbs pretty steadily, 1-2 lbs a week. Hit a yucky plateau at 140 that lasted for MONTHS. Eventually decided my body was done losing weight and went into maintenance mode (1800-2000 calories) and slowly over 9 months lost another 13 lbs.

I still eat around 1800-2000 a day and my body has settled at 127 lbs.

I started at 214 on July 31st and today (Aug 26th) I'm at 205 lbs for a total of 9lbs lost. I eat anywhere between 1200-1800 calories a day, no two days are similar, I jump around a lot in between those two numbers. I find I lose weight the easiest when I'm less 'predictable'. I averaged around 3-4 days/week at the gym doing the eliptical for 30 minutes during my lunch time. Last week was TOM and I took it off

I've actually held off on working out too hard as I'm losing steadily, pretty easily. I like to kick it up a notch when I start to plateau. So the next time I start levelling off I'm going to start jogging again, and after that I'll take up more weights etc.

I have started a F.A.Q./Frequently asked questions sticky at the top of the forum, and it has information there about how to figure your calorie level.

BTW-I started in the 200-220 level after each baby, and was able to lose weight for a while at 1600-1800 calories a day.

I'm 228. I try to keep my calorie range under 1800. I try to eat high fiber and high protein plus lots of raw veggies. So far so good.

I started at 200, after initial baby weight loss, and lost consistently at 1600 cals a day average, with breastfeeding. But I sit on my butt most of the day, so no exercise at all.

Now I've hit a major plateau at 150.

I started off at 224, and averaged 1600-1700 calories a day with infrequent exercise...I have gradually cut down to 1350-1450 at the present, and I still seem to be losing 1-2 pounds per week on average (some weeks I lose one, none, or three LOL).

Once I add in frequent exercise again, I am pretty sure I will bump back up to 1500 a day.

I'm so glad this thread is here! I've been trying to figure out if I was right about eating around 1600 - 1700 cals a day and still be able to lose weight. So it sounds like I am about right on that. It's nice to see people have had good results with that number at the same weight I am starting on.

I started at 204, and have a job that keeps me moving, but I did start at 1800, and gradually decreased as I started losing. I also worked out 5-6 days a week. Some days I only had enough to do a walk on my break, or work out 20-30 mins, or 60-90 mins. In the beginning I was losing 2 lbs a week sometimes more. I'm still losing, but now it's not so much. One week I lose, the other I don't, but lose inches on my body. I think my body is trying to catch up with the loss. I hope this helped answer your question.

I started out the year at 202 lbs. My calorie range is 1200-1500, usually on the higher end of the range. I also started with several 8-10 minute bursts of exercise a day at that time. The first 3 months, I lost 10, 10 and 7. Another month I lost 5, and since then I've been losing about 1-2 lbs a month. I can exercise for longer periods now but I'm still what you would call a moderate exerciser. I do a lot of indoor walking, jogging and dancing. I use a punching bag, wrist weights and a couple other little accessories. Oh, and I have a Total Body Trainer which I use sometimes. I need to get some toning in, though. I'm smaller (although it's hard for me to see sometimes but I know it's happened, lol) but I'm still soft. I'm not looking for abs or buns of steel or anything (never gonna happen anyway) but I do need to get less flabby.

I think the eating side of it has been working for me because I allow myself to eat some junk (I like salty snacks) but I consider that in my calories for the day and I use 100-calorie packs or other portion controls. I've come to know that I can eat those things in small and moderate quantities and still lose/maintain. My mother bought strawberry cheesecake (she thought it was poundcake inside but I love cheesecake, lol) for my birthday last Saturday and I had another piece Sunday and Monday (there's still some left, lol) and I've still lost a pound.
