Default Depression and Exersize

When I went to the doctor the tries to put me on some medicine that was for anxiety. Ive been on xantax on and off for about 4 years. . But I was wondering if exersize helps any of this. I dont want to be on any other kind of medicine they want me to go on and I was just wanting to see if exersize has helped anxiety/ depression? If some of you ladies could share your experiences please..

I have had friends lose weight on Wellbutrin but it doesn't last forever without making changes in your daily diet. My best friend lost 30 pounds but it crept right back after she went off the meds.

Also, there is a caveat against Wellbutrin for people with eating disorders. I had a seizure while on the medication. (I took it for major depression - I am on different meds now).

As always, ask your doc!

My psychiatrist is very insistent about getting some exercise every day because of the positive effect on depression symptoms. I'm on Wellbutrin XL and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones: My appetite has really decreased and most (but not all) of my compulsive binge eating impulses have gone away as well. I still have to do the work of choosing the right food, but I no longer feel like I would crawl across broken glass just to binge.

I'm on Wellbutrin as well and it did increase my anxiety but I really thought it was helping my depression so my doctor put me on Celexa to help with my anxiety. This is the best combo I've ever had.

I never suffered from real depression but I know that exercise, especially aerobic helps me to forgert my troubles for a while and to feel better.

Exercise does help some. I noticed that when I used to swim regularly I didn't get as depressed as usual. I still do get depressed but it seemed less. My hormones also normalized and my periods became regular.
