would not have found OA without you guys.
Hey guys,
I am so grateful to each and every one of you for helping me stay abstinent, one day at a time. I know I have my OA f2f now, and I love it, but I would not have gone back to OA without witnessing the huge recovery in this forum. So my gratitude is huge.
Just to say I’m heading off to the coast for a few days with my larger-than-life-extended family.
On one level, I’m really looking forward to it, one of my daughters and her partner coming with me, and that’ll be great. There’ll be grannies and babies and lots of noise. And that’s great too, in small doses!
I’m taking my OA literature with me – that and my willingness to stay abstinent with the help of my Higher Power.
I’m staying in a small hotel a little distance away from the family reunion. Means I have a bolthole and my breakfast is included in the rate. I have to say, I’m finding it difficult to lift the phone and ask the hotel about food options – to request fresh fish for breakfast for example. It’s a self-esteem thing, I guess. But I’ll do it. If this was a work situation, ( I used to work in tourism) and I was organising a tour, and a client had special food needs, I would be onto the hotel like a shot. No problem.
Good to be sober and abstinent and available to babysit or drive or change a diaper. Looking forward to building a sandcastle on the beach with my baby nieces!!!
Say one for me if you think of it. I’ll miss this site.
