Default Yet another ? about FitDay (not too dumb I hope)

I got a mini trampoline. I'm starting to do it for about 15 - 20 minutes after work. I don't think using the trampoline category on FitDay is the correct one. After all, it isn't a big one where I can do flips, etc.

I was considering running in place or jogging. My problem is that FitDay is asking for a distance. How the heck should I know? What would you put down?

TIA and I really appreciate all the patience you've displayed towards my dumb questions.

You can leave the distance blank and just fill in the minutes you exercised. I agree with you that it's more akin to jogging than a traditional trampoline. However, jogging on a trampoline is less exertion than jogging outside or on a treadmill because you don't have to propel yourself forward, so I might underestimate my time/distance a bit to be more accurate. A beginning jogger might take about 12 minutes to jog a mile, so you could also assume a distance of about 1.5 miles. If you want to underestimate a bit to compensate for not jogging outsdie, put 1 - 1.25 miles.

Where can you get a cheap pedometer, anyway? I want one!

Sports Authority has them. I got one there for between $5-10. It's not fancy, but it does the job! Might be difficult to set it up to work right on a trampoline, though, since it uses stride length to calculate distance traveled. It would be difficult to figure out your average stride length on a trampoline.

Katrina,

Thank you so much for that link! I read it and compared the calories burned chart with FitDay. They actually state a bit more. That's OK with me. I'm going to move it down to the room where I watch 1 show each day. I think I'll bounce through the show with it.

That link also gave some exercises to do on it.

I know I will have to work up on the time. I did it for 15 minutes yesterday and I noticed that I was sore last night. I do WATP almost every day but this moved me differently.

Now I'm getting excited to go home and bounce.

It's a good thing I'm losing inches. A few months ago I would have gotten a black eye from "my girls" if I'd tried this.
