Default fast food addiction

If there was ever a person who loved fast food, it was me. I ate it all: burgers, fries, tater tots, breaded chicken, milk shakes... this list could go on for a long time. What I want to share was what finally made me quit eating fast food cold turkey. No magic pill (*sigh* wouldn't that be nice?), but I read a book called Fast Food Nation. It's an expose of sorts about the fast food industry in America. Think Supersize Me, only more in depth and in print form. The thought of fast food literally makes me queasy now, I just can't do it.

I just wanted to throw this idea out there in case anyone else is addicted to fast food. It really got me off that wagon quickly! I don't have any affiliation with the author or anything, it's just a book that's made a gigantic impact on my eating habits.

I am so glad that you've gotten over that habit .

Reading that book is a GREAT suggestion and I'm sure you just helped lots of people. Thanks for passing on the information.

I read that book a few years ago...I've never been a huge fast food person (my issues were more along the lines of just eating too much of food in general, and not exercising) but I do remember that it made quite an impression on me. The part I found most disturbing was the discussion around the marketing that is done targeted toward getting kids hooked on McD's, etc. I do generally believe in individual responsibility, and don't hold the fast food industry responsible for our weight issues, but for young kids, they don't have the same ability to distinguish between marketing and reality, and that part did really bother me.
