Default How do I measure food?

Do I measure food by weight or volume? It doesn't seem fair to me to measure by volume... Consider the difference between 1/2 cup of chopped veggies and 1/2 puree veggies. Thanks

Meat and liquid(ish) substances I measure on the scale. Veggies and fruit I measure by volume. I would think that you'd measure the veggies prior to pureeing them.

Use your food guide to get your answer. If it says 1/2c, then use a measuring cup. If it says 4oz, use your scale.

Pasta is difficult to measure. Pasta is the cooked pasta put into a measuring cup. I don't eat it that much, but when I do I pack it in because usually I'm using fusili or some other sprial thing. I just cram it in the cup and make sure that it's not going over the top of the cup.
