What are some of your favorite foods that you include in your diet? Things you eat daily, or regularly? Maybe we can get some ideas from each other!

Some of mine:
-Fat free feta cheese (the only cheese that I can't tell when it's fat free!)
-Natural peanut butter
-Frank's Red Hot Sauce (I use this to flavor just about everything!)
-Berries
-Bananas
-Quaker Soy Crisps, cheddar flavor
-Whole Wheat English Muffins (I've discovered I actually like these better than the traditional!)
-Lean Cuisine meals (for when I don't feel like cooking)
-Yogurt (I buy Yoplait Light and the Boston Cream Pie flavor tastes like cheesecake, yum!!)

So what are your favorite things about your new way of eating?

Lean Pockets
Laughing Cow Light Swiss Cheese wedges on a mini bagel (this has replaced my turkey sandwiches which I was getting tired of after 5 months, which replaced my swiss cheese sandwiches pre-weight loss!)
Special K with berries
Lean Cuisine
100 calorie snack packs
Seedless grapes
Lo-cal or no-cal drink mix packets that I add to bottles of water
I also just got into making smoothies the last couple of days
And tonight I bought 2 boxes of VitaMuffins (4 per box, 100 cals each) for the first time ever but I haven't tried them yet. So that will be my next experiment.

A lot of those previously listed are my faves too. But i would like to add:

100 cal popcorn packets
Special K Protien Plus
Egg beaters
Low carb wraps (low carb and only 90 cals)
Subway (when i am on the run)
Extra lean beef (only 170 cals, compared to 350 for regular beef)
Oatmeal with blueberries or strawberries stirred in
Whipped cream cheese (it has less calories than the light because it is whipped, so you get regular flavor without the guilt.)

Onions. I eat onions every day.

Veggie burgers. Boca, Morningstar Farms, and I've recently discovered Gardenburger brand. Fab!

Pita bread. I eat pitas several times a week. Ok, more than several times a week, just about every night.

Lean Cuisine/Healthy Choice/Smart Ones. I don't eat them every day, but they're a staple in my freezer for times I don't feel like fixing anything or I just don't have time.

Fat-free cottage cheese and reduced fat swiss. I love love love swiss cheese, so I buy the Sargento reduced fat. I use it a lot in my pita sandwiches. I also buy the Sargento light string cheese for quick snacks.

Fat-free cream cheese and fat-free sour cream.

Single-serves of frozen veggies.

Quakes rice snacks and GeniSoy brand soy crisps.

Fresh sweet potatoes.

Other fresh veggies like cauliflower, fresh corn on the cob, red and green sweet peppers, and different types of squash (both summer and winter squash).

Tortillas. Both flour and whole grain.

Frozen shrimp and imitation crabmeat.

Canned soup.

That's all I can think of right now

  • Trader Joe's Fat Free Greek Yogurt (much better, IMO, and cheaper than Fage)
  • Non-fat cream cheese: I use it instead of butter on bread, potatoes, etc.
  • Fiber One Muffins with a little FF cream cheese: I sub baker powder for the baking soda, skim milk for the buttermilk, and pumpkin purree for the applesauce. I also add 2 tbsp pumpkin pie spice and fresh cherries or blueberries if I have them.
  • 60 calorie pudding cups
  • Chocolate mini-meringues from Trader Joes (they taste like the marshmallows in Count Chocula Cereal)
  • Fiber One cereal or Trader Joe's High Fiber Cereal
  • Cucumbers (I like the small person or oriental cucumbers best)
  • Raspberries: I consider them to be God's Most Perfect Food and eat at least 2 oz a day when they are in season.
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions: But not raw, only cooked in practically everything I make
  • Apricots: One apricot is only 20 calories--what a fabulous snack!
  • Fuju apples in the winter
  • Pluots
  • Fig-infused balsamic vinegar: I use it as salad dressing
  • Mustard: I love trying new flavors and use it in place of mayo on sandwiches and in tuna/salmon salad and in place of tartar sauce on fish. It also adds a great kick to omelets, stratas, and sauces.
  • Chutney: Great to add to sandwiches or omelets or as a sauce for chicken or fish. Salsa, too (except not on sandwiches).
  • Penny's Low Fat Muffins
  • Turkey, hummus, cucumber, and avocado sandwich on whole wheat bread with micro greens. This is my favorite sandwich; it travels well too so I often pack it when I need to eat lunch or dinner out.
  • Gerhardt's chicken sausage (a great last-minute meal)
  • Tubes of ready-made polenta

I could go on and on but that's probably a long enough list.

Dijon mustard - great for dressings, marinades, and just extra flavor.

Dried herbs and spices

Laughing cows - these really are a lifesaver for many of us, aren't they!

Bell Peppers - for some reason, I use more of these than any veggie.

Whole Wheat Couscous - 10 minutes from pantry to table, and lots of whole grain and fiber goodness.

Watermelon and Pineapple - my fruit staples

Fat Free Half and Half - great for reducing the fat without sacrificing much creaminess in sauces, frozen yogurt base, etc.

Thomas' 100-cal whole wheat english muffins

110 Calorie Alternative Bagels by Western Bagel. High fiber, high protein, and high yumminess.

Whole Wheat Pitas - second all of you. Great for dinner-sandwiches and for pita pizzas. My favorite is grilled chicken breast cut into strips, with grilled red onion and bell pepper, topped with homemade tzatziki made with...

Greek Gods 0% Greek Yogurt - love it! No TJs nearby so this is my brand of
choice.

Frozen Berries - Raspberries and Blueberries are great.

Designer Whey Chocolate Protein Powder - I've noticed significant gains in satiety and reductions in post-lifting muscle pain when I have a daily protein shake.

8th Continent Lt. Vanilla Soy Milk - use it to mix up the smoothies, to top cereal, and for other sweet applications. Yummers, and only 60 cal per cup. (my favorite protein shake - 1/2 c frozen raspberries, 1 c soy milk, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, and a scoop of protein powder. This works out to about 200 cals and tastes AMAZING.

Boxed non-fat, lower sodium chicken stock. I go through BOXES of this a week. I use it instead of oil in almost every possible application (sauteing veggies, making salad dressings, thinning sauces, even making a "cream" sauce with 3/4 chicken stock and 1/4 nonfat milk, thickened with a tiny bit of flour/butter), and also to add flavor to dishes (I cook my rice and couscous in chicken stock for the flavor kick).
