Default Chinese buffett

I have to go to a retirement luncheon for a colleague on Friday, and it will be at a chinese buffett restaurant (her choice). I haven't been to one since starting LAWL in January, so can anyone make suggestions for the best choices I can make there?

To complicate things, I don't eat seafood of any kind. ARE there any good choices available?

Maybe eat the chicken and broccoli, or stick with the veggies. Have a small amount of rice, if any. Maybe fruits for dessert. And lots and lots of lemon water afterwards

From LAWL Dining Out section:

Say YES to steamed dumplings, steamed chicken and mixed veggies, steamed whole fish (but you don't do fish!), brown rice and fortune cookies.

Say NO to egg rolls, fried wontons, cold noodles, general tso's chicken, spareribs.

Chinese food is a great option for dining out since many of the dishes can be prepared by steaming. Also, the oil now used in Chinese restaurants is peanua and sesame oils. However, any item prepared crispy or golden brown is not a good choice.

Sauces: Ask for low sodium soy sauce and the food to be prepared without MSG.

Thanks guys! I just checked out their website (duh!) and learned that they offer grilled chicken or beef, prepared while you watch, so I can definitely do that, and then stick with steamed veggies. Dessert can be fruit, and I'm not a big dessert person anyway, so that will be fine.

Here's the website: http://www.mandarinbuffet.com/buffet.html

They call that "Mongolian" grill around here.. It's the best option not only for healthy choices, but for freshness as well..

If you just can't resist another pre-prepped dish, make sure it is light on the sauce or try to take something from the top that isn't too drenched...
