can someone explain to me as my center can't seem too why I have to restrict my"equal, sweet-low" to just 3 pks a day????????? Its hard enough limiting myself to 2 cups coffee but when i get to work i switch to herb tea but at that point have no sweetners left as i used the 3 alotted in mycoffee earlier. any suggestions? thanks
I think it's a mental thing... Since you're restricted to two cups of coffee a day, by restricting you to 3 packets, it reinforces that. Unfortunately, it also means you have to cut back on other drinks you use sweetner for.
What I've done is weened myself on the amounts I use. In the past, I've always used two packets for my coffee, but now I'm only using one, so I can spread it out a bit. It takes a bit of getting used to, but as your diet progresses, you'll find that one is enough.
It's kind of like how we have to ween ourselves away from salt.. After a while (a short while, in fact) our taste buds realize that we never really needed all that salt in the first place, as there's so much salt in what we eat anyway...
For a more definitive answer, maybe one of our LA At Home on-line users could put your question to the on-line dietician...
Awhile back there was a LAWL employee that would post on here occasionally and she gave us a little tip on using more artificial sweeteners. She said for each piece of sugar free gum or candy we don’t use, we can have one additional packet of sweetener. So if you don’t use the candy or gum you could technically have 6 more packets of sweetener. I never okayed this with my center, but I will do it occasionally.
In the new menu planner book, art. sweetener is unlimited. (That isn't permission to go crazy on it though.) I have found that I also use less splenda now than I used to, probably only 2 a day now.
I don't think a little extra sweetener will do any damage; however, keep in mind that it can have unpleasant consequences on your digestive system! I learned that the hard way last week, when I consumed a RIDICULOUS amount of artificial sweeteners in the form of Coke Zero, sugar free hard candies and gum. Not a smart idea
I recently switched from Splenda to all natural Stevia in packets and since it is a bit sweeter than Splenda I find I only have to use a half a packet per cup of coffee where I normally would use a whole packet of Splenda. That all being said - I feel like I'm restricted enough that I don't even bother restricting my coffee or sweetener intake. I have to have some pleasure in all of this! (Also - I don't have an evening snack or indulge in the condiments so I feel I have "extras" available anyway.)
Thanks for the compliments on Noelle! We really got lucky because she’s such a happy baby and she likes to sleep. It really makes being a parent fun when you’re not physically and mentally drained from a lack of sleep. DS didn’t sleep until he was 4, so we deserve this!

This is correct. If you don't have the sugar free candies or the gum, you can have up to 9 packets of artificial sweetner. Or you can mix and match however you please.
9 packs of sweetener? Geez! That sounds like a lot of chemicals. I think the limit is also teaching portion control (see Sarah's post) as well. I used to drink 6 diet sodas a day pre-LAWL. Doesn't give you any calories, but the chemicals, caffeine, etc. still aren't great for you.
Just my $0.02, but just because you "can", doesn't always mean you "should".

Sakuya - Just out of curiosity, how long have you been doing LAWL? And how long have you been working there? Can't really see your stats with the ticker gone. Anyway, it's nice to have someone on the boards who's in the trenches.
I've been doing LAWL for about 3 weeks but I have been working there for 2 months. Not too long yet...
I have been too lazy to fix my ticker. I basically lost 70 lbs doing calorie counting and had been stuck on the last 10-20 lbs for 6 months because of poor food choices. The LAWL plan helps me get in healthy amounts of each food group.
