This may seem to be an odd question, but hear me out.
I was told once by someone that you can tell if your diet is healthy if your poop floats..Anyone else ever heard of this, or is it an urban legend type thing?
All I can say is mine must not be healthy..
I used to work in a salon with a stylist that was really into herbal therapy-type stuff. She used to talk to her clients and say things like, "you can really tell you are healthy if you go to the bathroom 3 times a day and your poo is 4 inches long and floats." My customers and I would look at each other and try not to laugh. Like, what kind of conversation is THAT to have with a client? That is the only thing I've ever heard of floating poo.
I've heard this also, but I think the one I heard was that you know you're getting enough fiber if your poo floats. Don't know if it's true or not. Just thought I'd share.
I did some reading on this topic (believe it or not) a year or so back. Jayell, I read what you read, but I also read the opposite - that it's good, indicates adequate fibre. My own doc. basically said that in the absence of any other signs or symptoms, it's nothing to worry about, one way or the other.
Personally, mine can go either way (risking TMI, I know!), and I think it's linked to my diet/fibre intake.
Dr. Oz does not like floating poop. He likes it all to come in one swoosh and maintain it's S or C shape. I believe he specifically mentions floating poop as BAD.
I've heard that you should have some that floats and some that doesn't. The floating stuff is because of the fiber you've eaten.....but seriously, do we really analyze all our poops? I'm just happy when I'm not constipated!

I'm too busy analyzing the baby's to worry too much about my own.
HONESTLY, in Holland, toilets used to be built with little shelves on them, so you could "inspect" them prior to flushing (REALLY nasty when I first encountered them...). I guess floating or not isn't too important...
Lets all talk about something else...I feel a bit nauseous....

I can't help it...i know this was a serious question and i'm not trying to make light of it...just it really makes me chuckle (oh yeah...and to answer your question...i don't know and never really paid attention)
