From previous threads, I can tell you that you may get quite a few different answers regarding what is considered healthy...and, I'm not quite sure what you would consider to be skinny. For me, skinny is being able to wear anything smaller than a size 18 pair of jeans! I tend to lose very slowly, so, today, I began tracking calories. My goal is to not go below 1200 calories a day, eat whole foods only, drink lots of water and do some type of cardio exercise a mininum of 5 times a week. I'm anxious to see what happens. If my weight loss stays at 1-2 lbs per week, I am okay with that. If my weight loss jumps up to 3-4 pounds a week....well, it goes without saying...I would be just thrilled! Either way, I will be losing in a healthy manner.
i think 70 lbs would be good cuz that's like less than 2lbs a week but everyone is different and you may hit a plato. but keep us posted and good luck i know you can do it!!!!!
ANYTHING! losing anything in 8 months is healthy, doesn't matter if it's 80 lbs or 8 still better than gaining! But as far as a realistic healthy goal I'd say shoot for 30 that would still put you down 1 lb a week, you wouldn't feel overly disappointed if for any reason (plateau) you were a pound or 2 short (compared to if you were shooting for 50 and only lost 28). Also anything over that 30 lost would just be "icing on the cake". You have an awesome goal to shoot for though, 30! wow! where does the time go? I'll be 30 next month so I know I won't make it to "skinny" by then but tell you what, I'm thrilled at the progress so far and hope to be a few pounds happier in May!
That's funny because my birthday is on December 8th and I was doing the math in my head earlier today....ok...where can I be in 8 months by the time I turn 30? I was thinking I would LOVE to be down to 140 by then, but I would certainly take 150...actually I'd take anything as long as it's less than now. I think anywhere around 40-50 pounds is reasonable and doable.
of course its realistic! i plan to weigh just about the same that you plan for december (my monthly goals are set for 10 lbs) so im here to support you and we can do this side by side girlie. thats what this forum is for.
I'll be 30 on Jan 2 and just knowing that I'm going to be so much healthier in my 30's than I ever was in my 20's makes me so happy. When I started my journey this time around at the end of January, I set a goal of 250 pounds by my brother's wedding on Nov 10. I started at 327.6. I am currently at 280.2, so I have no doubt that I will not only reach that goal, but surpass it. I'll have to do some thinking about a birthday goal. Good luck, and just remember that any downward movement is wonderful.

Wow there's quite a few of us on the cusp of entering their 30's! I know I didn't want to spend another decade obese....hopefully not even overweight. I feel so much better than I did 55 lbs ago, I can only imagine how I'll feel in another 55 lbs.
Gosh, you are all making me feel old!
30 is such a cute age! That's when my daughter was born. She turns 13 on Wednesday. Do the math......... yep, 43 here!!
I am turning 39 this year and my goal is to be at a healthy weight by my 40th. Since the BMI chart lists 162 as 'healthy', thats my goal. I may be 10 years older than you, but I'm in with ya'll for the duration!
Hey Diane, I'm with you in the 43 year old club. We can both prove that the forties can be fabulous. Nicki, you too, just entering your 40's.
Anyway southernlady, I think that is an attainable goal. I also think if you lose 50 lbs or 40 or whatever, that would also be fantastic. As long as you are headed in the right direction - DOWN, what could be bad? Just think if you stick to your plan no matter what you weigh on your birthday you WILL be thinner and healthier. Good luck!!!
Liz, that's just what I said. I do not want to spend my 30's like I spent my 20's. I plan for my 30's to be FAB-U-LOUS! And getting close to Onederland by my birthday would be a great way to kick it off!
