Default Shoulder clicks during dumbbell shoulder press?

The topic title says it all: When I do dumbbell shoulder presses (http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...lderPress.html) I can feel one shoulder clicking when I return the weights to the bent arm/weights at shoulders position. Is this something that I can/should fix? How?

thx.

Does it hurt or just make noise? Sometimes mine sounds like rice krispies, but I've been assured by my doc that unless it hurts, it's just ligaments snapping across the bone and it won't cause any damage. If it hurts, STOP.

The other possibility is that if it's more of a grinding noise rather than a snapping noise, you could have a small bone spur. That would progress to painful. You need to either make a judgement call yourself, or if it bothers you enough or you're really worried, go see a shoulder doc and get a real medical opinion. Shoulders are the worst designed joint in the human body- though some would argue that knees are a close second. There's no way to really know what's going on without an xray or MRI.

Makes noise--less distinct than a Rice Crispies thing and just the one click always at the same point in the movement, not a series of noises/clicks/thingies. I can kind of feel it, but it doesn't hurt.

Sounds like I can ignore the sound effects-- thanks for the help.

My left elbow does that. Not sure why. My Doc told me if it doesn't cause pain or swelling it's just a thing. His does the same.

But if ever in doubt ask the doc.
