I have read "I'm Not the New Me," which I enjoyed, and then I just picked up "Passing for Thin," after seeing it mentioned somewhere. I enjoy reading stories about successful weight loss, but have also read some reviews of some of the books out there which say they are depressing or negative, or they didn't like the people that the "skinny" authors turned into. Do you have any you would recommend?
I liked "I'm Not the New Me" as well... You might check out "Tales From The Scale" I didn't like it as much as "I'm Not the New Me," but it is still good.
I'd suggest "Confessions of a Reformed Dieter", by AJ Rochester. She's Australian, and it's a really good read. She is also now our host for the Aussie version of The Biggest Loser.
"Eating Heaven" was a great book about getting over a food addiction, with some family stuff in there as well. "The Next Big Thing" was funny...about a girl who goes on a weight loss reality show. Funny, light read.
Good In Bed (Jennifer Weiner) and Jemima J (Jane Green) are both fat chick lit classics.
Since you read Passing For Thin, you might be interested to know that Frances Kuffel is working on a new book about losing regained pounds called Just This Once: An Atlas Of Relapse And Recovery. She regained most of the weight that she wrote about losing in Passing For Thin and is in the process of losing it again. Meg,
Jemima J annoyed me so much. "Oh I'm overweight, I lost weight, no sagging skin, I look like a model and I got the guy I've been drooling over forever".
I didn't care for it Also the drama in the middle was annoying to me.
I just started "The Cinderella Pact" and I love it!! It is making me laugh out loud and I NEVER do that ever. It's about 3 friends who make a pact to lose it, one last time, but also includes stories about the lead character returning to the gym the first time after a long time and entering the dreaded weight room. It makes me fall off my chair laughing - great book!
