Yes, I was told to reduce the simple carbs in my diet years ago when I first was insulin resistant. You want to do this, to avoid becoming diabetic. A good diet to follow to do this is Sugarbusters. Eating 100% whole grains, like whole wheat bread adn pasta, brown rice, helps. On Sugarbusters, you can have sweet potatoes. It may seem like the end of the world, but you CAN eat and eat very well with out those items. If you think you can't, then you need to break the habit, as it is probably contributing to your insulin resistance. Cut out sugars, especially the ones in foods. Read labels, and pick products with 3 or less grams of sugar per serving. Once you get the sugar out of your system, you don't miss it as much. It just takes a few days of fighting it.
