  • Anyone up for a rousing, holiday-themed edition of Name That Film?

Name the holiday film that this quote came from and the character who said it, and then you get to put up a quote yourself:

"Oh, I was just smelling - smiling. I was just blouse --- brousing. I, uh, heh heh. Well, I guess it just wouldn't... Oh hee hee, it wouldn't be the Christmas shopping season if the stores were any less hooter than they - HOTTER than they are. Whew. It is warm in here, isn't it? "
  • Man it sounds familiar - I know I have seen it, sounds like John Candy or Jim Carey.

    More hints please...
  • oh, i love this game.
if i remember correctly, that's Chevy Chase in Nat'l Lampoons xmas vacation? I remember the scene, buying gloves at a counter... let me know!
I'll try to come up with one for you guys...
  • Yup, that's it, Lizzi! Now it's your turn!
  • okay, I've got two quotes from my very favorite christmastime movie. I have two because it's kind of a movie that not a lot of people have seen.

retort to rude caller: "Well I'm simply crushed. Here I have waited my whole life for you, and now you don't even want me. Do go on! I believe you were discussing my cherry? (caller hangs up) I am so good at this, and soon I will be left high and dry, with no outlet for my talent. "

"Just remember that in every pothole there is hope. Well, you see, pothole is spelled P-O-T-H-O-L-E. So if you take the P, and add it to the H, the O, and the E, and rearrange the letters...or contrariwise, you remove the O, T, and the L, you get "hope". So, just remember, in every pothole there is hope! "

happy guessing, lemme know if you need any clues.
  • Oh, that was a tough one, Lizzi. I thought it sounded familiar, but I couldn't pin it down. My boyfriend thinks it's Mixed Nuts.
  • Yay! It is Mixed Nuts. My favorite Christmas movie, but most people I come across have never heard of it even.
  • I think I saw Mixed Nuts ages ago but I don't remember it much. I'll have to see it this year! OK, here's an easy one. It's from a classic that I don't particularly care for.

"Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"
  • I don't normally "live" here, but can I play?

If I can, then that was "It's a Wonderful Life," and the next quote is:

"Must be beautiful in Vermont this time of year, all that snow..."

(If the answer is "no," just quietly ignore this post and I'll mosey on..... )

    Cheryl
  • Oh, Cheryl.. first of all, sure you can play! And secondly, that's from one of my Top 2 Christmas movies! White Christmas. Love it!

    Here's another:

"Nenge? Nenge Mboko? It is me, Lionel Joseph!"

    Good luck.
  • TRADING PLACES!! DAN AKROYD AND EDDIE MURPHY!

    Here is one

"The thing about trains... it doesn't matter where they're going. What matters is deciding to get on. "
  • Quote: TRADING PLACES!! DAN AKROYD AND EDDIE MURPHY!

    Here is one

"The thing about trains... it doesn't matter where they're going. What matters is deciding to get on. "
Hee hee.. I had no idea what this was until I saw a commercial the other night: "The Polar Express!"

How about: "First thing I'm gonna do is to bite off every one of his little fingers, one at a time."
  • OK, I'm back!!

    Maggie, that's a tough quote!!

It's from one of the Home Alone movies, but I'm not sure which......

    Is that close enough?
  • Close enough! I think it's the first one. Your turn!
  • "I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl. We ate lobster and drank pina coladas. At sunset we made love like sea otters. *That* was a pretty good day."

(It IS a holiday movie )
