spotting?

Hi y'all,

I'm new here and hope you don't mind if I just jump right in with a personal question. About a week and a half ago, I started cutting my calories from about 2000 per day to between 1100 and 1500. (A lot of that came from giving up alcohol.) I also started keeping track to make sure I was geting enough fiber, protein and calcium. Today I started spotting a teeny tiny bit. I am on the pill and haven't missed any since I started the new pack (which happened to be the same day I started cutting calories.) Naturally, I am a little concerned about this. Is is possible that my body is reacting to the change in calories? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,
V

I had period issues at first when I started cutting calories. Some spotting (light) inbetween cycles, and I had pms about a week too early and then started 2 days late. I am on the pill also so I am very regular. Once my body adjusted things seemed to straighten out. If you are really worried you could give your gyn a call, or you caould just wait a month and see if things straighten out on their own.

If you use to drink alcohol regularly even if just one glass of wine a day(your liver is busy metabolizing the alcohol) and then you don't drink alcohol your liver metabolizes the estrogen in your pill faster and that can create some spotting. If you are on a low dose pill I would use back up protection for a bit to let your body adjust. Nancy

Wow! I have never heard that, but it makes sense. Thanks!
