Just thought I would start us off for the month of June :)

My dance classes are done for the summer so I will have to find something else to do until fall. :(

I am hoping to go swimming at the local pool with DH and dust of my DVDs and get my butt in gear :D

Wednesday: 30 minute lunch walk. 45 minutes Isometrics, 15 minutes lower back stretches.

Tani - what kind of lower back stretches? I am desperate for something but not sure what will work...

Lizziness-

I did the stretches from a really old exercise tape I have called Callanetics. They involve laying on your back and curling your tail bone up off the floor with a variety of leg positions. She also has a modified squat exercise where you stand on your toes, holding onto a bar or the back of a chair, lower yourself an inch or two curl up your tail bone (the opposite of arching your back) return to center, lower a couple of more inches and repeat. Then you work your way back up.

The exercises are similar to yoga and pilates but the woman who created them had very bad back problems, so all the exercises are kind of designed with back strengthening and protection in mind. I had totally forgotten I owned this tape, it must be 20 years old, until I had my back go out badly a couple of weeks ago.

I was looking on amazon today, and they have some of her tapes & books in the used section and some have been re-issued on dvd. I actually ordered another (more advanced) tape this morning because my back felt so much looser last night after doing the exercises. I have the beginner tape at home now.

Did an hour of Pilates this morning. Man, that was a LOT harder than I thought. My core needs help. I have legs this afternoon and hotdarnit, I'm gonna get that workout in if I have to kill someone.

50 minute walk. My dog is demanding (at least) a walk every day now, despite whether I've done any other exercise :) She's good motivation.

Well I forgot the time and my 1 hour of gardening turned into about 3! :yikes: And then DH and helped my parents move furniture and the lay a carpet down in their livingroom - I am exhausted :faint:

oy oy oy My back is hurting badly again. I still managed almost an hour of walking yesterday (broken up) But I'm getting really really annoyed with my body. I'm hoping it was the new moves at aquacize on Saturday that set it off (substitute instructor) Because then at least I can not do those moves again and have the illusion of a little control. I'm just getting sooooo frustrated.

Went to the gym tonight, 30 minutes on the treadmill , and then i thought I would do some weights , and then I had a horrible panic attack and left earlier than i had intended. :stress:

Tani - I feel for you girl. Even when my back is a little out of whack, I'm a mess.

Well, this is day #3 where I have WALKED TO WORK!!! Yay me! It's a 4.5 mile walk and I get it done in 1.5 hours... I know, I'm slow! Because the Cute Boyfriend got laid off, I couldn't buy the bike I wanted to - I pouted about it for like a week and then this lightbulb (very dim, almost not even flickering) went off and I thought, "Why not walk to work." Since CB is at home, he can pick me up and take me home at the end of the day (until I can work up to here and back). However, he has an interview today so I'll be walking home as well. I hope I can keep this up all summer!

30 minute walk today, but it hurt like ****. I'm taking two days off completely. It's so hard to take it easy. I remember when I had to force myself to exercise, now I have to force myself to rest. I guess that's a good thing.

I hurt my ankle hiking. It feels like a sprain, even though I didn't sprain it! What's the deal? Has anyone ever experienced this? It REALLY HURTS! WAHHH! :cry: Now I'm all bummed because I probably won't be able to hike for another week. I TOTALLY know what you mean about giving yourself a rest Tani!!!

Purple banana,

When you say it feels sprained, but you didn't sprain it... Do you mean that there wasn't an incident where you twisted it, or landed wrong, but the pain developed later? If so, you may have just really overused the stabilizing muscles around your ankle. Are you wearing tall hiking boots or low shoes? You may want to go with taller, more supportive footgear if you're not all ready. An ankle brace can help too. If it's just the muscles being over used, you should be all better in a couple days :)

Tani, that may be what's wrong: overusing my muscle! I went to REI (outdoor sports equipment store) today to check out some hiking boots...the really good ones are really out of my price range now, but I think I'll have to save my money for them...I NEED to go hiking! It's the only form of exercise I look forward to and actually WANT ti do!!

I got up a 6AM on a sunday and went to my racewalking class. Oy. It kicked my butt. Then, I went to the county fair because our folk dance group got paid to perform there - I think they were just filling a slot because they put us on the Coors Light Rock On! Stage.... it was horrendous. And I'm exhausted.

damn men LOL andy always seems to distract me when he has the evening off so I don't get anything else done...such was last night, but i decided to bump it up and begin my day with two of my 10 min pilates workouts...we'll see if that goes better (which I did do today :D )
