My 15 year old daughter went to a book sale the other day, and bought me a Timothy Findley (one of my favourite authors). She doesn't usually do things like that, and I was so touched that she would think of me. I didn't tell her that I already had the book, and I quickly hid my original copy so that she wouldn't be disappointed.
Anyhow, I read it last night (it was a book I hadn't got around to reading yet). It was Findley's first book (not his best, but still good), The Last of the Crazy People. |
People go for the crap! I try to read classic literature, but those sections are getting smaller due to chick lit & romances. I love a good Shopaholic book once in a while, but I wish they had more room for actual literature. That's my rant for the day :) I am reading the Tao-te Ching, Fitness for Dummies, and just started A Time To Kill. I loved the movie, so I thought I'd read the book. I am learning a lot about fitness from my dummies book, it has TONS of good advice. I never learned about fitness, my parents arent fit, school doesnt really go into it, and I needed more info to cut thru all the crap they put out there for weight loss. I am so glad I picked it up!

I read "No one writes to the Colonel" on the plane when I was on my trip. Not bad, but not great. If you read "A thousand years of solitude" first the stories make more sense.
I am now going to start "News of a Kidnapping" and we'll see how that turns out :) Still in the middle of Fast Food Nation - what an eye opener into marketing, business practices and politics  I am also reading some Star Wars graphic novels we got at the convention - did I mention I brought back a talking Yoda doll - I am such a scifi geek :dizzy: Ellis- what a nice thing your DD did for you :D |
