Hey Everyone!
 

Well, I'm back. I know I've been gone for quite a long time. Long story. Suffice it to say that things should now be back on track for me. Last semester (I'm a teacher remember) was grueling and I sort of hit a depression. Not from school though, just life. My sister (18 years old) suddently through a wedding on us in November. I was already stinging from being the last single friend that I have (not to mention that most of my friends are having babies too). Then she asked me to be the maid of honor, and I had a week to get a dress (and of course have it altered) and learn a song to sing at the wedding. Yes, I was the "chubby princess" at the wedding; my new profile pic shows me at the hair salon. My little sister getting married really threw me into a whirlwind and sent me down a spiral emotionally because some of my family members made little snide jokes about me being the teacher spinster. I'm not really sure what turned me around in the past couple weeks, but I am feeling like my old inspired self. It could have been that I had two weeks off from school (and from my devil class that I have this year) or possibly that I am enthusiastic about my meeting with the plastic surgeon. I met with him on the 28th and my breast reduction is scheduled for June 3rd. I actually teared up in the office when he began talking about the relief that my back would feel and how my posture would improve so much that I would look 2-3 inches taller. It's been something that I have wanted for such a long time, and I still want to lose more weight before the surgery, but either way it's finally here. Yeah!! So, that's the update on where I've been and what's been going on. Good to be back among all you wonderfully supportive gals.

I'm so sorry you've gone through a rough time. :( How wonderful that you're getting the reduction done! You're going to feel (and look!) so much better!
And listen, marriage is not all it's cracked up to be. I totally lucked out, but almost everyone I know DIDN'T, and they're miserable, complaining excuses for human beings.
As for those people who "tease" you (insensitive louts!), I'll bet you anything that some of them envy you your single status!!

Welcome back! I don't think we have met before, but I too have bben away for quite some time and came back again. I love this kooky gang, and they will give you lots of support as I am sure you already know. Ellis is so right--as usual. I too, am very lucky to have met and married one of the best, but even then sometimes we want to kill each other. Don't settle for second best. I am sure you will find someone who will rock your world. In the time being, enjoy your freedom, and live it up.

Yikes! 18 is a bit young to get married! Heck I didn't get married until I was 26 :)

Be yourself, do your own thing. Don't let others upset you or force their ideas on you. You are not an "old maid". This use to happen to my aunt. The married ladies she worked with when she was younger use to tease her with "poor Annie, she doesn't have a man" until the day she turned around and told them "Well, when I see what some of you take as a man, then I would rather be alone"....they stopped bugging her after that! :lol:

BTW- she never did get married, had no interest in it whatsoever.

Besides they probably envy you your freedom sometimes.....

Ummmm Becgris.... sweetie... no old spinster teacher of mine was that hot. Girl, you got it going on! I would say that jealousy is driving those nasty comments.

becgris - good to see you on here. ignore the comments - some people say stuff without thinking. I'm sure if they realized their comments hurt you they wouldn't have said them. Forgive and then forget REAL quick.

Good job on getting revved back up to get in gear again.
