Journaling question

  • I keep a food journal on fitday and I've noticed that my calories can vary widely between particular days, but generally average out to my goal within a particular week. Lately I've been wondering if I might do better to take it day by day and really try to stick to a maximum per day, so that I don't give myself permission to eat too much one day. How do y'all approach this?
  • I use fitday too and try to keep my calories about the same each day. (1200 - 1300)
  • i use fitday too. i go day to day. one day a week, i give myself a free day where i dont worry about what i eat and i dont write anything down. the rest of the time i try to stay under 1600 but my max that i allow myself is 1800. i couldnt go week by week, i would loose track. just think, if you give yourself a daily max, on the days that you are way under, your just that much closer to your goals. i have to set the limits on my cal intake daily because i love to eat and i would never go way over, but i would go over. i only set a daily max when i am trying to loose weight though. i can maintain weight no problem, its just losing it that i need discipline for.
  • I try and keep it fairly constant day to day, but it's the week average i am more concerned with. I record my weight weekly, and so also record my weekly average calorie count.

So long as you are using up what you take in on any given day you should be fine.

  • I am on WW so I count points instead of calories but we are supposed to eat a certain target each day. My daily mininum is 22 points per day and I find that journalling and having a set limit helps me.
  • Thanks y'all! This really helps.
