I never cry at anything and that stupid Extreme Makeover House thing almost always makes me tearful. It's pathetic. I can't think of a movie that's made me cry though. My favorite movie, Harold and Maude, comes close though. Hehe, Armageddon makes me cry cause it's such a bad movie. :) Well, a lot of people loved it, but I hated it. I also hated Titanic though. Chick movies. :) Big Fish made a lot of people in the audience snuffle too.

Mette, I can normally cry just THINKING about Terms of Endearment!

I'll check out some of those I haven't seen, and revisit a few that should make me cry again. ;) I'm going to start with "Awakenings" this evening, as it's sitting here on my shelf.

Many thanks for the suggestions, girls!

Me too!

Also "Big Fish" and "We Were Soldiers". Sometimes - "The Crow". Actually - the interview after the movie with Brandon Lee makes me cry everytime I watch it. It was the last interview he did before he died.

There are more but I just can't think right now. :p

Oprah's show yesterday made me cry.

I agree about An Affair to Remember making one cry (well me anyway). This is the film with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr isn't it? The bit when he goes to see her and she is on the couch (for reasons which will be obvious to whoever saw the film) and he thinks she isn't interested (blub!).

I suppose some people would cry at Love Story. I never bothered to see it though. Not my thing.

mauvaisroux 10-07-2004 12:53 PM

I am not really one to cry at movies much but Braveheart had some teary moments  as did The Passion of the Christ.

Peahen- yes it is the one with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr :)

OMG: Yes! I remember completely bawling my eyes out! The scene where she says goodbye to her sons? And the scene where she dies (and Shirley MacLaine is *so* wonderful in this movie!), and her mother starts wailing on about how stupid she was, because she thought it would be a relief when the daughter finally died? It’s so dreadful!

Oh! I remember watching this one when I was little – I also remember crying a lot. So I would definitely be one of those! ;)
I also remember – and crying hard at – The Champ with Jon Voight and Faye Dunaway at approximately the same time.
But I can’t remember either of them good enough to say whether they are good or bad; I just remember that, as a little girl, they made me cry a lot! :D

That's the one for me, too, Mette! When she says to her son, "I know that you love me" because he can't say it himself. waaaaaaaaaaaaah! :lol3:

Last night I watched, "My Life" with my daughter. We were both practically sobbing. I'd forgotten to take my meds for two days, so that probably doesn't count where the "experiment" is concerned. It was sure good to cry, though!
I also watched Phenomenon, which didn't make me cry.
I'm watching one sad movie a night. I should get a job as a movie critic.

Went to see "friday night lights" typical footbal movie. It was good. If anyone remembers "sling blade" the little kid is the quarterback in this movie. Weird to see him and Thorton working together again yrs later. Also, Tim McGraw, (Faith Hills hubby) plays a hard *** drunk dad. (But looked good doing it :o )

We watched "Henry Rollin's Live at Luna Park" it's not really a movie, just a DVD, but I love Henry Rollins. He always has great stories and has such great stage presence. I was only disappointed with one thing, he told the same story in this one as he did in another DVD we watched. But everything else was new to me and I loved it.
He's got a great rant about Iggy Pop in the extras that is fun too. Oh, and did mention at all how incredibly great he is to look at ? :)

I really enjoy Henry Rollins stories too - he is just so funny, poignant and human.

We watched "An evening with Kevin Smith" on Friday Night - hilarious!

And on Monday I watched Pleasantville - it was great!

lizziness 10-12-2004 01:17 PM

I love Kevin Smith. I watched this movie that he worked on called "Drawing Flies" and I loved it. It was black and white and had Jason Lee, who I adore, in it. It's not for everyone, definately an art film, but great. I haven't seen "an evening with kevin smith" i'll have to look for it.

We got the great toy that is Tivo and now I am watching all these shows I wouldn't get to see. I am not hooked on "Desperate House Wives" and I'm going to give "Life as we know it" one more chance before making a decision on that one.

mauvaisroux 10-13-2004 04:23 PM

OOH, didn't you just love Jason Lee as the minion of Satan in Dogma? :)

lizziness 10-13-2004 06:08 PM

Mauv - I love him in anything. I even loved him in Dreamcatcher, though the movie was painful. *L*

Lizziness - again, we have too much in common. I love Kevin Smith & Jason Lee (even when he was a punk skater boy).

I just saw I Heart Huckabees and I recommend to run out and see it! It's fantastic. Dustin Hoffman is a riot, Jude Law, Lily Tomlin, etc etc. Excellent concept (an existential detective agency) and executed very well!
