Alternachicks at the movies

I saw Spiderman 2 last night - fun action film - good summer movie. I really enjoyed it and I don't even read the comics. :)

I am going to see Farenheit/911 on Sunday with DH and my parents.

When you see Fahrenheit, take your own hidden snacks. We were practically the only ones in the theatre who'd bought popcorn. Almost everyone else had brought stuff from home. The guy beside us had even brought a chicken shawarma. :lol3:

I saw Napolean Dynamite last night. It's such a quirky little film. It has very little plot to speak of, but the actor and the writing keep you going. If you haven't seen the trailer, take a look at it. You'll know instantly if it's the movie for you.

Funny enough, the evil pet/housesitter worked at the concession stand last night and it kept me from buying anything before I went into the movie. Ha!

ellis-chicken swarma! How the heck did he sneak that in???

Just came back from seeing Farenheit 9/11 - awesome movie! The whole audience was clapping at the end of the film. And there was a lot of discussion in the lobby afterwards.

Some of the things in the film I already knew about but there were some suprises.

I alternated between laughing, crying, being angry, feeling disgust with politicians and big corporations, and breaking my heart for the American people and the Iraqui civilians.

My husband and two of my kids went and saw Farenheit 9/11. My kids cried part of the time, as did many other attendees. I haven't been able to bring myself to see it yet. I'm afraid I will just sit in the theatre and cry. Heck, it's hard enough for me to watch the news these days!

On a lighter note to movies - I finally saw the Tripplets of Belleville. That movie is so amazing. I am almost embarassed to say that I've watch it three time already since we rented it on Friday night. It's just so detailed and amazing. I haven't been this excited about a movie since Donnie Darko.
Anyone who enjoys animation or just something offbeat and fun should check out this movie.

Sounds cool

You know how we love imports at my house. Well we found another amusing one. "The Missing Gun." It is about a police office who wakes up one morning hung over and with his gun missing. He has to try to remember what happened last night and figure out where his gun went. It goes downhill from there. It's a good action and somewhat comedic film, if you don't mind subtitles.

Lizzi - I LOVE that movie - Tripletts of B. I saw it three times in the theatre (and I'm a miser!). You should have heard me screaming for it on Oscar night.

I’m always a bit late watching movies - and I watched “Supersize me” and “Kill Bill 2” this week. Has anybody else seen these?

“Supersize Me” I loved! It was funny, smart and totally hilarious. I could so relate to his depression and changing moods – it’s something I remember very clearly from periods I’ve eaten badly. Feeling depressed and lethargic, and then get intense highs and feeling happy when eating. :D
I think I was most shocked by the part about school lunches and the lacking quality of the food given to children in junior high and high schools. But the visual of Morgan Spurlock barfing out his car window when eating his first supersized meal will stay with me for a long time I think! :dizzy:

As for “Kill Bill 2” – I can’t seem to make up my mind whether I liked it or not. I don’t think I did. (And did anybody else notice that the all the parts of the movie that included Bill talking was just *boring*?)
I don’t think I got it at all. Which is a bit sad, because I really liked the first – it was so stylish, humorous, cartoonish and mysterious.
Ah well, that said: I still want to be Uma Thurman in my next life! She is totally awesome!

Okay I watched Mermaids this weekend. I LOVE that movie. I've seen it a bazillion times and still love seeing it.

Tiki.

I forgot to post this -

I saw Before Sunset last week. If you have seen and enjoyed Before Sunrise, go see it! It was great to watch Ethan Hawke and Julia Delplay together again. Very sweet movie.

last week saw IROBOT which amazingly I like. If it wasn't for Will Smith I probably never would have gone. It was definitely worth it. Especially the seen with him in the shower.....H O T.....shower.....(swoon)

This weekend we went to the drive in and saw Bourne Supremecy. Not as good as Bourne Identity.

Finally saw the third Harry Potter movie. It was much better than the other two I though. Much more angsty. I am reminded though that I can't wait for the next book!!! Anyone heard any rumors when it might be coming out??
