calling nonamortica........

  • I saw your post about hot flashes under 'bite me.' Have you tried Revival soy? If you are already shaking your head and saying--yes, tried this and that--so did I. I have been visiting a site with a forum for the past couple of years called PowerSurge.com. I wish I'd found it a couple of years before that when I thought I was losing my mind! But, glad to have it now. Great message board and nice women--all about menopause. Love it.

Anyway--on these boards, the women were alwasy talking about Revival soy (can be ordered online), and they touted it for less hot flashes and night sweats and less mood swings among other things. I thought, "yeah, right, I have tried soy. The difference, I think is that it has the equivalent of 6 servings of soy per day--the same as most Asian diets. (I sound like a commercail, don't I?) Finally, I gave in and tried this stuff. I felt better in a week. No hot flashes, less night sweats, my mood has improved much and the PMS is lessened so much, I wish I'd been taking this all my life!

Now, If you have a soy allergy, of course, this won't be for you. I'd urge you to try it and visit the forum. There are women there to commiserate with and joke with about what we all are going through at this stage of our lives. I felt lost a couple of years ago. Now, I feel like this will someday pass.....
  • Cheryl, thanks for that link! Just what I need! (damned night sweats... grumble grumble..)
  • Cheryl, thanks for thinking of me. I will check out that website.

Unfortunately I am hypothyroid and have to avoid soy, but I am glad you found something that works. I will make sure I file the info away to pass on to friends.

I really should not complain too much, the hot flashes are a pain, but I think others have suffered worse. I was having the most awful mood swings, it's amazing my sweetie survived them, I gave in and am taking one little miligram of estrace. Keeps me from committing homicide!!! Just enough to take the edge off, not enough to totally obliterate the hot flashes.

I can practically feel my one remaining ovary sputtering out

    Nona
  • Ellis--very welcome, I know you'll love it.

nonamortica--too bad about the thyroid, but the site may still help. They have a lot of other cool ideas that have helped alot of people. One thing that's true is that all people react differently to things. Some gals are getting help from one thing for the flashes, and some are getting help from something else. It takes some trying stuff and some time. And of course, by the time we've tried EVERYTHING and gone 'round in circles trrying to feel beter--why,. our perimenopause will be over! If nothing else, this keeps us busy.

I have only one ovary too and I hope it's sputtering.........I've missed two periods in a row. (Hope that's not TMI) I think I've missed about 8 in the last 2 years. Can't WAIT for this thing to be over.
  • I'm gonna give it a try, thanks Cheryl....Nothing worse than having to change the sheets in the middle of the night cuz they are soaked with sweat.
  • EXACTLY, Sflake! The first couple of times, DH thought I'd peed the bed.
  • Good luck guys! And I might add that some people I've cyber-talked to have had help in a week or less from Revival and some take a month or so. I'd say, though, if my perimenopausal symptoms (and PMS) were a 9 on a scale of 1-10, they are a 3 now. Not perfect, but I feel a WHOLE lot better.

Hope you all have the same results. This is such a tough time in our lives sometimes. The only GOOD symptom I have at this time in my life is that I don't care what ANYBODY thinks anymore. I like that new feature to my personality!
  • Thanks again, Cheryl!
And I know EXACTLY what you mean... I don't give a damn what anyone thinks of me, either! It's SO liberating!
