Alternachick chat May 2+
Evening all :)

New chat thread for May....

Boring day today...it was overcast, chilly and then pouring rain :rain: but it did force me to do some spring cleaning :)

Had a great weekend otherwise...went to a big belly dance show with my friend and saw some great performances, I won $50.00 in the fifty/fifty draw and my friend won a door prize :lucky: and after the show the club played arabic dance music and everyone got up and shimmeed together on the dance floor! Then I walked over to another club to meet my DH and watch another friends band play.

Saturday we went to another friend's birthday dinner a lovely Italian restaurant.

I think I need another day off to rest before going back to work

Noodles913 05-03-2004 04:09 AM

Boring day here too...

It was over 90F here today!! Summer is officially here for us Arizonaians. :sunny: That means I have to water my yard more...even with drought resistant plants. Go figure.

I drove for the first time today since surgery. Felt weird to drive. I felt like I didn't belong on the road...like I was breaking some law or something cause I had eye surgery. I could see but I just felt guilty...Weird huh?? Just call me Nuts!! :dizzy:

Well, have a good week all! Sending :sunny: rays your way. :smug:

mauvaisroux 05-03-2004 08:11 AM

Well it is definetely NOT summer here....:( Woke up to overcast skies and a windchill of -1c! :P

blugirrl1 05-03-2004 01:08 PM

I thought spring was here. but not . lol had to actually turn the heat on last night. and there is a chill in the air. grr i want warm weather!!
had a decent weekend. but school started back. and looks like i have a lot to do this month. hope my brain can handle it.
Mauvais : sounds like you had a really good time. :)
Noodles, I don't wanna hear about how warm it is. not fair :p

Noodles913 05-03-2004 09:12 PM

Well...just think of how nice it will be there in Canada and Ohio when we're dying down here in the 110 mark!! :faint: Course *I* won't whine...I like the heat. It's my husband who whines!! Gonna :tape: him up.

HEY Heather...how far are you from Des Moines?!!! I will be there end of July-Beginning of August, and it looks like we're taking a side trip to Dubeque. I'd be thrilled if we could meet somehow!! :hyper: Hey do you know what the weather is like during that time??? I hope no tornados. Those scare the ..... outta me! :yikes:

SeekInnerThinChick 05-03-2004 11:28 PM

Noodles: you must be feeling better, your posts are making up for lost time...

Noodles913 05-03-2004 11:52 PM

LOL...Yea...I am playing "catch-up" here and on the other forum I am part owner/administrate on!! Talk about a headache!! I did at least 100 posts over there in 2 days...Probably that here too!! I like it here though... It's all MEN over there. I am the only girl!! I do get good jokes from the guys though...I can only post the semi-clean ones here.

blugirrl1 05-04-2004 10:56 AM

Morning Ladies. :coffee: today we get a grand high of 50. whoohoo. at least it ain't snowing.
Angel: i am not sure, will have to check. i know i am right near the Indiana border. ( think Fort Wayne) but it would be nice. :)

mauvaisroux 05-04-2004 01:14 PM

Heather-Is that anywhere near Indiannapolis?

SeekInnerThinChick 05-04-2004 01:19 PM

Hi, everyone. All quiet on the western front out here in Portland, Oregon. The DH is on the DL, for at least 2 weeks, and he's already getting bored staying in bed. But at least the bleeding has completely stopped. He's got his laptop and piano keyboard on the bed, but he misses his other music gear and his work. He's not supposed to walk, but I've been letting him come downstairs for breakfast and dinner, otherwise he gets stir crazy. The stitches should come out on Thursday, then we'll see if there is any infection. That's the one thing I'm worried about now.

That was really traumatic over the weekend, but I've calmed down now. I lost 2 pounds overnight just with the stress. I definitely don't recommend that method of weight loss!

Noodles913 05-04-2004 06:35 PM

Sending Smilies Your Way, Seek! Hope your hubby heals fast and healthy.

I sure miss it up there...I miss the resturants!! We use to go eat at Yen Ha on Sandy Blvd. at least 2x a month. Best Pho I ever had!! Hubby misses working downtown, then I have to remind him of the 1 hour lite rail commute and he goes, "Well that I DON'T miss!" hehehe...I might be making a trip up there in September for my Birthday, but not sure yet. I have a free ticket & got the Portland bug but I might be sick of traveling after all of these tournaments. I'l need a vacation from the vacations. <G>

blugirrl1 05-05-2004 09:45 AM

the thread ate my post. grr
seek, yesterday i posted but the gist was i hope hubby heals fast and doesn't drive you batty. :)
Mauvais : i think it is like 60 miles from indy to fort wayne, i know we are about 30 min from fort wayne

ellis 05-05-2004 09:55 AM

Seek, I hope your DH heals soon. :grouphug:

SeekInnerThinChick 05-05-2004 01:28 PM

Thanks, everybody. And you're all invited up here-- Portland is great! You do have to look out for the restaurants, as Noodles says-- they are fabulous, real diet killers!

Wouldn't it be great to have an annual 3FC convention in a different city each year?

Noodles913 05-05-2004 02:28 PM

Let's arrange one!!! I'm Game!!! Come on Seek, me and you can get the ball rolling!! And ladies, you can get that "big deal" package right now for Portland!!! Course we dont have to go to Portland but...it's SOoooo pretty there!! I just can't go in the wintertime. :(

Any ideas??? :?:

SeekInnerThinChick 05-05-2004 03:34 PM

Hey, Noodles, why don't you mention it to the 3 Powers That Be and see what they think, first off. Since the site belongs to them, permission to use the 3FC logo and i.d.'s would also have to come from them. After that, I'd suggest we start a poll thread to see how much enthusiasm there is for the project. How's that for a start?

ellis 05-05-2004 07:14 PM

Noodles, remember there was some talk in the Mod's forum re: t-shirts? What ever happened to that idea? Did it die because no one wanted to wear a shirt that said "FAT CHICK" on it? :D

Noodles913 05-06-2004 03:24 AM

I dunno, Ellis. I know Meg made a shirt once but that was it. I want to make one for when I join the gym and for the bowling alley but I just haven't had a chance yet. I don't mind wearing it cause it has a website on it. Now if it said ONE FAT CHICK HERE and pointed an arrow at me, then people might want to lock me up!!

O.k., Seek, I'll ask the Mother Hens. :D There are other groups that already have yearly get-togethers though so I don't see why we couldn't plan something... That's where my mind had started twirling about this idea. I enjoy giving virtual hugs, but I would also love to give them in person to my fellow chickies. :smug:

Speaking of bowling...

Our bowling team clinched 1st place tonight!! YAY!!! :cb:

Somehow I managed to bowl a 163, 165, and 191. I won the spot of the year for Womens High Series Handicap. Our team took spots of the year for: High Series Scratch & Team High Series Handicap. I can't wait for banquet night! We get casholina and trophies and awards!! I also claimed a 50 pins over average award last Saturday on my other league. Now it's time to take the summer OFF bowling wise, and concentrate on jump rope tournaments. Phew!!

mauvaisroux 05-06-2004 10:33 AM

I think they were toying with the idea of a t-shirt but were trying to figure out the logo and the wording....it is probably on the back burner at the moment since there are probably a few other things going on right now...those girls are very busy

I think that some of the different groups have met up but a convention would be

Teufelchen 05-06-2004 01:49 PM

Noodles - congrats!! :bravo: Guess that eye surgery paid off. :joker: (Just teasing)

Goddess Jessica 05-06-2004 03:35 PM

Regarding convention stuff. I know that the 100 lb. club is doing a convention in Chicago this year (and they got their very early inspiration from someone who said, "I think the Alternachicks got together once!") and it's going be a pretty big shindig. Finding out how they did it and gettign them involved in a larger whole 3FC one might be a good idea.

Noodles913 05-06-2004 08:25 PM

Hehehe Thanks :thanks: Teufelchen!! I think I bowled better because I couldn't see the pins. So I didn't make the mistake of looking up at the last minute as I tend to do at times. Instead I "dot bowled" like I am suppose to do and just hoped for the best. Apparently it worked!! :smug:

I'll ask the Mother Hens about a get-together...start from there and work our way up. How's that sound?? My wheels are turning!! :chin:

SeekInnerThinChick 05-06-2004 08:41 PM

That works-- maybe this summer. Nix on the "fat chick" T-shirt, though. No way!

mauvaisroux 05-07-2004 12:30 PM

Well, Ruthxxx, ellis and I do get together for a day of Dim Sum and shopping once in a while...I guess that was the first alternachick meet up...it would b nice if we could do a whole group thing though....maybe in T.O.?....

hannah_phi 05-07-2004 08:57 PM

Hey y'all! It feels like I've been gone forever! My finals are OVER! I already found out I got an A- in my Kant class, which I consider pretty good considering my past struggles with him. I'm still up in the air about the Heidegger class though, but I have a good feeling about the paper I wrote. My friend who read it kept saying, "I can't believe you could make this so clear." This weekend I am giving myself a complete break from thinking about school, then Monday I have some papers to grade and students to meet. Wednesday I have a big push to finish grading 39 papers in 24 hours, then I am done. I can't wait to clean my apartment this weekend. I put my finals week blinders on and let everything slide (including my diet :( ), but I know it is over now.

A conference sounds great. Especially if it is in the Pacific NW, but anywhere is good.

SeekInnerThinChick 05-07-2004 10:15 PM

Hannah: Congratulations! :balloons: That's really impressive! And if we meet we'll have to call it a party, not a conference-- don't want to make it sound like you have to present papers...

hannah_phi 05-08-2004 01:16 AM

Thanks! Yeah, actually I love philosophy conferences, but I was having trouble trying to picture a having anything like a "conference" with y'all. You gals are much too fun! I think a party sounds much better. ;)

Noodles913 05-08-2004 04:58 AM

http://www.harrythecat.com/graphics/w/balloon1.gif Way To Go Hannah! :bravo:

Mauv: Whats T.O.???

Hey a PW get-together sounds wonderful to me!! But I want to make sure its o.k. first (I still haven't asked the "Mother Hens" yet) and I want to make sure it's a place everyone would want to go too?? I say the more the merrrier?? I just dunno if I'd be able to go this summer...Maybe September...that's when this tournament stuff calms down..And that's my birthday time!! :D

Ok..I'm bad. I bought another pair of Birkenstocks tonight. They are having a great clearance sale!!! Shoes are like price or more!!! I couldn't resist the "Stars & Stripes" waterproof ones. I paid $43.97 TOTAL. Included shipping!! Now I got pool shoes!! I wanted to get the red ones and white ones but I already have those colors so that wouldn't fly as a good excuse to use with the DH. I better cut this out though...I think 15 pairs is enough for now. :o If you want to see the clearance shoes & my "4th of July excuse shoes", here's the clearance site. Bikie Clearance Shoes!! I had to do some fanagling to find it...but you wont have too. hehehhe But be warned, Birkie shopping can be addicting!! And to think I use to think they were ugly. hahahaha

ellis 05-08-2004 08:48 AM

Or Montreal, Mauvais? :D
Noodles, T.O. is Toronto. (Toronto, Ontario) ie: I'm going to T.O. for the weekend. :)

Hannah, congratulations!! :hat:

Noodles913 05-08-2004 09:42 AM

Ahhhhh o.k. dokie, Ellis! :thanks: Tanks for explaining it to me. :D

Time for http://www.harrythecat.com/Smiley/b65.gif!!! I was burning the midnight oil again..and somehow it turned into 5:30 a.m. oil. :p

Noodles913 05-09-2004 08:48 AM

Good Morning, Mommasitas & Roostersito!!! http://users.snowcrest.net/kitty/hpa...doodles66x.gif

Well, I actually got some SLEEP!! I didn't get much yesterday...I finally laid down at Noon and took a 3 hour nap but that was it. I was cleaning house and was on a roll and couldn't stop. Finally hubby yelled at me to rest or I would be sleeping at the table during cards, so I took a snooze. Then I got back up and finished changing the sheets & making my bed. I have this thing...I MUST have my bed made and my pillows about when people come over. Probably part of that OBC with the clean house syndrome.

I had fun last night!! We had homemade BBQed Ribs and Chicken and homemade potato salad. My friend made it with the light mayo and I couldn't even tell the difference. Usually I can cause that stuff has that weird aftertaste but...either *I* am getting use to aftertastes or it was a $50 jar of primo mayo. Hubby made 2 cheesecakes and was kind enough to send one of them HOME with my friends. I might of eaten more than I should if it didn't leave my fridge. We played 3 games of Pinochle. Girls won 2 games. Girls rule boys drool!! :cheer: (kidding, Jack! ;) )

Well, that's all for now. Hope everyone has a great day today!!

ellis 05-09-2004 09:31 AM

Thank you, Noodles, darling. :grouphug:
Happy Mother's day to you, too, and to all of the women here and their mothers/children/whatever. :hat:

You're http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/sign/1/sign16.gif, Ellis Dearling. :D

Hope everyone had a great day!! I was in bed most of the day sick. :( Still sick so you won't see too much of my "Graffiti" today. Ugh...time to try to eat some soup and watch TV. I feel yecky just sitting here too long. I'll be back when I am up to par.

Until then, take care. :smug:

ellis 05-10-2004 09:12 AM
