Hey everyone! Why am I thinking of the Saturday Night Live skit where Wil Farrell was the "nude model" for the artists? Did anyone see that one? Gross. ha ha Mauv-your party sounded great! I have been taking private lessons as well as my regular belly dance classes, and I am learning floorwork in the privates. Belly dance backbends from standing and kneeling positions...and getting up from them...it has been great-but a heck of a workout!!!! I love it though...floorwork is extremely "aweing" to an audience...and very sensual.
Well...I best get getting...I need to shower. I am going to see Ani DiFranco in concert tonight...for the zillionth time. I won't miss her. We have schools closed here and in all of the neighboring counties due to exessive snow...but I am going anyway. Now I am just trying to decide whether I want to dress feminine and funky...or whether I want to go "feminatzi" as my dh would say and bring out the camoflauge and combat boots! ha ha ha

Hi aphil! Good to see you on the boards again :)

I am currently doing floor work at one of my classes too - my thighs are killing me
Have fun at the concert! "femi****" would probably be warmer - just my practicality kicking in!

Hey ellis, and anyone in the Ottawa area, check out this website www.rainbowfoods.net - they sell organic products, dairy free, and other health products etc. and they have an on-line zine :)

I think I will check out this store on the weekend! :D

Water VS Coca-Cola

Here's a little food for thought (Water or Coke) to get you through your morning? We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before. This is really an eye opener.

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is
so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's
metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight
hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a
University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10
glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and
joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzz
short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and
difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on
a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases
the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash
the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less
likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of COKE:

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol
carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove
blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke
and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola
into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for
one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke
removes stains from vitreous China.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals:
Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to
bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth
soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several
minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola
into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil,
and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished,
remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of
coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and
run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help
loosen grease stains.

9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Info:
1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric
acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4
days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from
bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase
in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the
commercial truck must use the Hazardous material
place cards reserved for Highly corrosive
materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to
clean the engines of their trucks for about 20
years!

Now the question is, would you like a coke or a
glass of water?

ilovemyluckycat 01-27-2004 09:29 PM

Noodles thanks for the info... I have been off diet coke for 10 days since I have been doing the fat flush diet. I miss it some, but I have thought about giving it up or maybe just having it as a treat. Doesn't caffeine leach calcium from our bodies too? I have been drinking sooooooo much water, but finally I don't feel dehydrated. I was so dehydrated prior to starting this diet. I dehydrate easily and it takes a lot of water to make me happy over 80 oz.

Aphil, hello! I was looking at your stats...you've lost a lot of weight. Good Going!!! :cheer: So was there a lot of snow??? Will I have a snow day tomorrow in NY? :crossed:

Ellis - :goodvibes: You're awesome. Next time he is a #$%&*, we can both take turns crank calling him ;) And I'll break in and replace all the Metallica teeshirts of his with American Eagle logo stuff - Muhaha!

Dentrassi - Flex time is a rare thing indeed. I *do* like that VERY much. Almost makes up for Friday but not 100% heh!

My model today was wood. That's right. For our first class, we had a 6 foot tall pose-able mannequin. You could even bend the toes! Plus we had a lot of geometric shapes made of cardboard, and a yellow drape ;)

Next week, Mr. Nekkid Man, Phil. I have seen Phil before... briefly in my last class. He is super defined but not as hot as I would like

But then, Figure Drawing is about the beauty of the human form as an abstract, or as accepting humanity, not as lust objects.

Ah well... one can dream! (I need a lust object in my life!)

Noodles913 01-28-2004 12:35 AM

Yea it is...I always wondered why my kidneys ached after drinking Diet Coke or Reg. Coke...maybe thats why...I can only drink diet now...but that's a rare event in itself. I usually drink water or milk.

I wanted to tell you girls I found a great new snack that actually tastes good!! I was impressed!! These Kashi TLC cracker things. I think they are new. TLC Stands for Tasty Little Crackers. They got 130 calories per 15 crackers, with 30 Fat clories. NO Hydrogenated Oils, Zero Grams Trans Fat, All Natural 7 Grains. They remind me of wheat thins sorta but they just taste better. I think they were $2.00 a box at Wally World. Ok I will shut up now.

Yeah, well, if you could have seen one of our models (Charles), you would have KNOWN that was a fact!

Den, I thought you could only go blind if... oh, never mind.

mauvaisroux 01-28-2004 07:52 AM

If you drink a lot of tea and coffee you should cut back and also make sure you consume dairy products and calcium supplements as caffeine does prevent the absorption of calcium. Also a lot of women can develop chest pains from drinking a lot of caffeinated beverages - including soft drinks and hot chocolate.

I had this happen to me and my doc told me to switch to decaf everything and to not eat chocolate for 2 months - torture! :fr: but it worked.

Apparently this is a common thing that happens to women.

aphil 01-28-2004 12:05 PM

The Ani concert was great, as always...and I was worked up enough after it to have some pretty good...well, let's just say I got to bed LATE. MooHooWaHaHa!
Mauvais...I LOVE floorwork...it is really giving me some much needed definition in my thighs!!!!! I can really feel my quads getting more developed! I came home one day after practice, and popped in the door...and went over backward into one form of a belly dance backbend...and then told DH that is where his hard earned money was going...and he was like "It can KEEP ON going there..." ha ha ha

ellis 01-28-2004 01:04 PM

mauvaisroux 01-28-2004 01:43 PM

Sounds like you had fun at your concert and then some ;)
