unencouraging thoughts

Weird weird weird. I've had bad dreams lately -- and they're all Freudian insecurity dreams!

First, I had a dream that I was attached to a single small helium balloon, and I flew up to 10,000 feet. All I remember is thinking, I'm not going to make it, I'm not going to make it, I'm going to fall right back to the earth. And that's how I've felt about my weight loss recently. Like it's hopeless. And I'll never make it. :( And I'll just gain it all back again.

This is really weird thinking, and I need to get rid of it.

Anybody else have these thoughts, like you won't be able to do it, or you'll gain it all back?

Actually, I have the "naked in public" dream quite often....and with my weight problem, it's TWICE as embarrassing!

Peace and robes,

YES! HAve them much more than i care to admit!!! I try to replace the bad thoughts with good ones, but that doesn't always work.

Hee hee, VOW!

So I had three good eating days, and yesterday was bad, and the stupid dream came back!!! AARGH!!! Guess the dreams are really related to food issues. Stupid food issues. :(

I never remember my dreams. Wonder what Freud would say about that.

dentrassi 10-29-2003 06:16 PM

FREUD: "Snowflake, I zink zat your lack of cognitive dreaming suggezts zat you have ze sexual dyzfunction."

Dentrassi: "Freud, you are projecting again..."

Freud: "I am NOT, NOT, NOT projecting you poopie head!!!! Zometimes ze cigar really IZ a penis."

Dentrassi: "Only if you're Monica Lewinsky."

I always remember my dreams. I had to go to Dream Therapy as a kid because they were so disruptive. But I did learn some tricks that might help...

Step 1.
When you wake up from a particularly bad dream, close your eyes and examine what upset you about the dream. (In Aquareggie's case, I would say that "the balloon would burst and I would fall back to the earth. This represents my fears about failing in weightloss and that I'll gain all the weight I lost back.")

Step 2.
Now that you've identified what upset you, "fix" the dream. Make up a different ending, make sure you visualize ever part of it. (In Aquareggie's case, I would say, "More balloons float up to help me stay up and I tie them to my arms and legs. On these balloons I write what they represent in my real life. My 3FC friend's who will always be there for me are these 3 balloons. My good eating habits are on these balloons. My exercise routine is on these balloons. Now, there are so many balloons that I can't see the sky but I can enjoy the view and how good it feels to be so light.")

You can get so good at this second step that it becomes second nature. Hope this helps!

Grrrrr....

Feeling really crappy and fat and grumpy today. Thought I'd post in the "unencouraging thoughts" section since I have nothing nice to say. :censored: :stress: :bomb:

Back later when I'm not in such a foul mood.
