I watched a bunch of movies last night.
The Tuxedo-Not Chans best but better than gorgeous. Good for out takes.
White Oleander-Interesting but too long. Some build up, consistency, and pacing problems.
The Four Feathers-Definitely too long, but good. Major pacing problems.
Knockaround Guys-I liked it though it has some definite ridiculous moments. You ever wonder what mob guys say to each other when their just hanging out.

Ah yes! Miss Chris is absolutely right, Blade Runner is de riguer for this forum. It is a must, and it also happens to be my very favorite movie of all time. No seriously, it is an excellent film that deals with what makes someone human, and the justification for treating others badly because they may be different than you. I highly recommend it if anyone hasn't yet seen it.

Ok, never saw Blade Runner. Though I can quote most of Heathers

My favorites -

Another great movie (well I like it anyway) is Logan's Run. It seems a bit campy now and hasn't stood up to time as well as Blade Runner but the themes are still relevant.

I also enjoyed (and own) the original Rollerball with James Caan, WestWorld and FutureWorld with Yule Brynner and the first Mad Max film. And there is a great movie called Hardware (more post apocolyptic-future gone to ****) in which Lemme from Motorhead has a cameo

I was movie queen this past week. I watched:

White Oleander - ok movie, but disappointing after reading the book

Road to Perdition - Pretty good, but lots of shotting. I didn't know it was a mob movie. I can see why Paul Newman was nominated (Though I was less then impressed with the Oscars this year)

The Banger Sisters - very cute girlie movie

Tuck Everlasting - I LOVED this movie. Ben Kingsly was very cool. And so was the chicky who plays Rory on Gilmore Girls. (Her name escapes me right now). Excellent kids movie too.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding - cute, fluffy no-brainer, but very enjoyable.

About A Boy - Hugh Grant playing Hugh Grant. Loved it. Very funny.

And I watched The Ring again. Not as scary the second time, but I tried to pick up on stuff I missed the first time around.

We watched Brotherhood of the Wolf again on the weekend with some friends and I still enjoyed it the second time around. It's got mystery, intrigue, horror, religion, mysticism, politics, adventure, obsession, sex etc. etc. Phew! Oh, yeah, and French subtitles, but it is dubbed in English and you can turn the subtitles off on the DVD if you find them too distracting.

My sisters and I went to see Chicago last night... what a great movie!! About a half hour into the film I leaned over to my sister and whispered "I need to take dance lessons". The singing and dancing were amazing and nothing was hokey (like most "musicals" imo). Everyone did a fabulous job (Renne Zellweger and Catherina Zeta Jones and even Richard Gere, whom I normally cannot stand) and it really earned its Academy Award. And Queen Latifah! Wow! Lets hear it for the sexy, full-figured woman! She was incredible and almost stole the show with her number.

After we returned home, me and my two sisters were trying out our dance moves in my mom's kitchen. We laughed so hard we almost peed our pants. Trying a few shimmys and kicks and fancy steps made us realize just how insanely talented these folks are and how truly pathetic we were.

I think I will see Tuck Everlasting and About a Boy after Squeakers reviews. The problem I am coming up with lately is the "Is this story really worth the journey?" Well let me tell you Abandoned is absolutely not worth the journey. Watched Formula 51. Okay this movie was ridiculous and lame, but I feel less about the fact that I took the journey than with Abandoned.

Auto Focus was okay, they did a good job of trying to fill the roles and its a true crime so its interesting to watch. The sex was BORING, this guys infuation with it even more so, he had no real motivations. I mean if I am going to be a film/porn/sex addict at least give me an abused childhood or some perversion to back it up. Blech! More movies to watch today I have high hopes for The Good Girl and 8 Mile. I will let ya'll know

OMG! I am so out of it. Harry loves old classics - Amercord and anything else by Fellini and anything with Ingrid Bergman. I am living my movie life in a cultural backwater! I'm keeping a list of the films you chicks like and will rent them soon. I saw My Big FAt Greek Wedding on the plane last November - fluffy and funny. We also rented Best In Show - a stupid dog show movie! Yech!

8 Mile looks pretty good even though I am not a big fan of rap music. Might rent it sometime.

What is Abandoned about? The title sounds familar....

Mauvais-Let me know how 8 Mile is. I am NOT a fan of Eminem (give me Grandmaster Flash any day!) but am curious to see it since it was filmed here. 8 Mile is the dividing line between Detroit and the suburbs, and I live between 10 and 11 mile. Want to see if they show any of my old (or current!) haunts.

Chris-Is Formula 51 worth it for a rental or no? I really like Samuel L. Jackson but don't want to waste the time if it is super bad.

I think its what you expect Den. If you expect Samuel L. Jackson at his best then absolutely do not watch Formula 51 if you want to be mildly entertained and a little grossed out then see it.

Abandoned is about this girl who gets left with by her father and does not take rejection well. I found it incredibly predictible and slow paced.

Haven't watched 8 Mile yet have had my head stuck in a book all day "Good in Bed" by Jennifer Weiner. It is so good and funny.

I did however watch The Good Girl this morning. I liked it. I think though I found what was suppose to be sad and poignant as well as somewhat depressing hilarious. I laughed my butt off. The whole thing was wrought with irony and how one bad choice seems to lead to another, plus I think we all look for a little distraction in our lives especially when burdened by depression. Oh and guess what Jennifer Aniston actually acted in this movie and did a pretty good job!!! I was shocked.
