Okay new TA-DA! Thread.

For any newbies this thread is used to record any accomplishments that we have recently done, something that we did for ourselves or something that we have been meaning to do for a while and finally got around to doing.

It doesn't matter how big or how small the deed - if it made you feel good then post it!

I have managed to keep the dining room table free from junk (magazines, bills, things that don't have a home) for the last week and DH and I have actually been sitting down and eating meals at it! :D

dentrassi 03-09-2003 05:14 PM

I washed ALL the dishes, and the sink is clear...except for the cans which need to be rinsed out for the recycling bin. (But I'll get those done EASY now that the dishes are done!!!)

RavenToy 03-09-2003 07:04 PM

ewk Mauv... that's something I really need to do. I did manage to get the library books returned today, and I picked up mousies and got the snakes fed. Now I need to order some rabbits for the big snakes. Oh and I scrubbed my shower, too.

Ruthxxx 03-09-2003 07:06 PM

Ta-Da! I've been working too hard and did not TA-DAs today except I did manage to go out for lunch and join the Red HAt Society! www.redhatsociety.com

RavenToy 03-09-2003 07:13 PM

*lol* That looks like a fun (dis)organization to be in.

Lunula 03-09-2003 07:28 PM

I finally went to the gym today and did my weight-lifting - for an hour! AND, I came home and washed my car... then decided to wax it (which, BTW, I will never ever ever do again, lol). My body is aching - but I feel pretty darn good!

RavenToy 03-09-2003 07:33 PM

uhm .. so .. like .. want to wash and wax mine? *hopeful eyeballs*

mauvaisroux 03-09-2003 11:51 PM

Tonight after supper I made the lunches and set up the coffee pot and the breakfast table for tomorrow morning. I also picked out my clothes for work and packed my bag for the gym. Yah! :D

RavenToy 03-10-2003 07:59 AM

I showed my son how to scrub the toilet!! woo!

ellis 03-10-2003 08:44 AM

Raven, that is freakin' amazing!

Last night I took out my contacts and cleaned them properly.
Well, they were actually starting to hurt, so maybe that doesn't count...

Ruthxxx 03-10-2003 10:23 AM

I was up before 6, dressed and down to the store to buy some cleaning supplies. the house is all neat and tidy and Gail is busy cleaning away! Life is good!
However, I am still working on stripping that damned wallpaper!

flower 03-10-2003 11:08 AM

I read tons of journal entrys last night. :) I have been sweeping the kitchen floor regularly. And I updated my journal 3 days in a row!!!

Hopefully your son isn't like mine Raven...he knows a lot but doesn't do any of it without a bribe!!!! :)

ellis 03-10-2003 11:13 AM

I'm feeling surprisingly energetic. I've started cleaning the basement. Should take me about a year, but at least I've started. I'm clearing up my grow-lite area. I'm late ordering my seeds... must get going on them...

Oh, and I've done 2 loads of laundry.

Sojourner 03-10-2003 02:58 PM

Ta da!
We had a fairly productive weekend!

1) Did three loads of laundry, folded, and put away!!

2) Sorted the laundry basket of socks that has been sitting in my room for about two years. No, I'm not exagerating! As it turns out, I have about 100 pairs of socks. Instead of sorting them, I think I just kept buying more socks. :o

3) Cleaned the bathroom... scrubbed the tub/shower, toilet, sink, floor, walls, even the window.

4) Started organizing my closet... this is a multi-day project. Also convinced dh to clean and organize his closet (actually the entire spare room... since he uses the whole room as a place to deposit his clothes  ). Of course, his closet is now spotless and organized perfectly. He is a far better cleaner than I am, which is probably a good thing since he is also a lot messier.

5) Started to organize my many bookshelves and sort through the ten boxes of books in the basement.

6) Started a Goodwill donation pile that is growing rapidly. I am determined to purge my house of all this STUFF!!

7) Made home-cooked, healthy meals two nights in a row.

8) Made time for some really great sex this weekend! :s:

mauvaisroux 03-10-2003 08:47 PM

Sojo- your #9

Today's Ta-Da for me was that I finally cracked open one of my new cookbooks and made a new recipe for dinner tonight. It was really easy and took less than half an hour to make (my big criteria for afterwork dinners :) ) and actually tasted good for a "diet" recipe.

Oh, and I ate capers for the first time ever too!:D

dentrassi 03-10-2003 10:11 PM

Ruth-WOW!! The Red Hat Society sounds like a blast!!! I checked out all the hats, and wouldn't mind a few of them (FUN!!)

Mauvais-YUM!! Love capers!!!

Ellis-Want to do my house?!?

Sojo-Ditto! (I'm overdue for #8, better tell dh to get busy!!!)

Sojourner 03-11-2003 01:15 AM

I only have two more TA DA's for today...

1) Went shopping and purchased three new bras and some panties because some of mine are now too big! :D

2) And since we are on the topic... DH asked me to model the new purchases when I got home, and well, lets just say I didn't get much else done this evening. I highly recommend this past time chickies. TA DA!

ellis 03-11-2003 07:39 AM

Ruthie, there's no chapter in Ontario for The Red Hat Society! What did you do... start your own!? :D

Gee, Sojo... you're packing in a lot of SEX lately!!
Maybe we all need new underwear...

Ruthxxx 03-11-2003 07:47 AM

Ellis, there are lots. The website is not working right. There is one in Ottawa and one in Cornwall. We did start our own chapter - The Rideau Rubies. We will show on the website when they fix the darn thing. There is even a chapter in Oman! Purple robes maybe and a red veil?

Yesterdaya's TA-DA was to scrape so damned much wallpaper that my shoulder aches! Still a but of the high up stuff to do but the end is in sight (as the Bishop said to the Actress)!

flower 03-13-2003 05:14 PM

I bought my patio furniture yesterday along with my fire pit for the back yard. I unpacked all the boxes with tools and hardware in them and organized the tool cabinet. I bought one new casual outfit. 6 more to go! :) I got the wood to finish my living room too! Maybe we'll even cut it today too. But no staining it til the wind dies down. Don't want dust in it.

Goddess Jessica 03-13-2003 08:57 PM

My turn My turn!

1) I finished my flashcards for my philosophy test on saturday and I still finished my homework for the creative writing class (forced creative writing... what was I thinking when I signed up for this course??).

2) Signed up at the YMCA. :)

Ruthxxx 03-13-2003 10:28 PM

Finished scraping off the rest of the wallpaper backing - except for the couch alcove. (Doesn't everyone have a couch alcove in their bathroom?)
I also reached a permanent decision on the colours and decor and laid out bucks for the stuff to do it.
Now if I could just organize some TA-DAs for weightloss...

rochemist 03-14-2003 01:54 AM

Your moving Ruthie and that is an excellent TA-DA!!!

I refined a recipe to make it BFL authorized, then I figured out what a serving was ie. calories, carbs, protein, and fat! I am awesome and then I made the darn thing. So I have some ready made meals and I boiled some eggs for my meals. Miss Chris future chef!!!

I also once again bypassed the corn chips at the mexican place. I am awesome!!!!

Miss Chris<----tooting her own horn ;-)

wsw 03-14-2003 02:12 PM

i have my appt. this afternoon to sign my updated will. it was one of those things which i had been putting off. i feel good about getting this taken care of!

ellis 03-14-2003 02:35 PM

My parents are coming home tonight from their annual two month holiday. I've just baked them a big loaf of oatmeal molasses bread. :)

squeaker 03-14-2003 03:02 PM

Little ta-da - I finally bought my own paper shredder after borrowing my mom's for almost a year.

Bigger ta-da in the works.

Ellis - How is your mom doing? Feeling any better? I bet you are glad they are coming home. :)

Ruthxxx 03-14-2003 03:14 PM

Ta-Da! I spent the whole morning socializing! I deserved a reward after busting my *** on the wallpaper crap. I went to my pal Claire's house and we sat in her sunny middle room, admired her new SPCA dog, drank coffee and gabbed away the morning!

Now I feel good about spending this afternoon scraping vinyl glue off the bathroom walls!

ellis 03-14-2003 08:54 PM

Thank you for asking, Squeak... I THINK my Mom is getting better. Yes, I'm always glad when they leave (it's a break for me as well as for them ;) ), but I'm missing them now, and I'll be glad to see them. Sis and I are picking them up at the airport tonight. I always think it's such a romantic thing to do... running into the arms of your loved ones at an airport. Except for our Dad, who doesn't even LOOK at us until he's got his hands on his luggage. :D

Ruth, that bathroom is going to be the end of you. snicker.
