Excuses for not exercising

Okay for all you snow birds it is sun-shining and in the mid-60's low 70's today..... it is beautiful the birds are sings the breeze is blowing and it would be a great day to take a long walk....

my excuse for not going .....

Both of pairs of my walking shoes are wet... washed them last night (because I thought it would be raining again today) and so now I don't have any shoes to wear walking.....

Can't use the treadmill barefoot.....

Ground is still to wet to cut grass or rake leaves......

No excuse can be found for not cleaning house so I better get up off my bumm and do so before DH comes home again and it looks like a tornado hit it.

because your shoes are wet!?!? bwahahahaha! I'll have to remember that one! ;)

ellis 03-07-2003 01:45 PM

Well, apart from the fact that I'm deathly ill, it's effing FREEZING up here in Ottawa. :D
Hoping to get back to the Y next week...

I have a date for dinner and "Daredevil" tonight so no exercising for me! (well maybe just exercising my imagination upon seeing Ben Affleck in leather  )

I am sure I can think of one...how about the sun is too bright and my shades are in the next town in my car at Chris's work! I really ought to go for a walk. I have been cleaning and unpacking and burning some calories today!

OK not to be the devil's advocate here, but, uh... there are many ways you can exercise at home without going in to the cold and without even putting your shoes on. You can do crunches for 10 minutes (I use a timer and a good CD to get me going), taking a tiny break after each 50, you can do leg lifts for 5 minutes, bicycle kicks for 5 minutes and at the end 10 pushups. That's a pretty good workout for only 20 minutes of your time.

Don't get me wrong, my usual excuse is that I'm too tired, but generally speaking I try to get my exercise over and done with in the morning, when I'm even too tired to argue myself out of it! If I don't do it in the morning, I run the even higher risk of making excuses in the evening.

alergic...
break out in a sweat, and then my face gets all red, and before too long my breathing gets all funny and my heart starts racing...this can't be good!

I was thinking of this thread all afternoon. It was funny, yet like a thorn in my side. I put my socks on and my walking shoes on. Went to get Grif for a walk and he was passed out. You do not wake him up, under penalty of death!!!! So I went outside and gardened instead.

Amyjo01 03-08-2003 11:15 AM

Lets see.... Today I have been up since yesterday morning and I am just really pisssy and have no inclination to get up and do a blooming thing.....by bed time I will be running 36-38 hours no sleep....

Ruthxxx 03-08-2003 11:49 AM

Why, Amyjo? It is a good excuse though.

Now would someone please tell this old babe what the heck a crunch is? I hate to admit my ignorance but I am a real slug.

dentrassi 03-08-2003 01:50 PM

Okay, I have the best excuse of all!!!!!

I'm too FAT to exercise!!!!!

BWAHAHA!!!!!

;) :p :dizzy:

Amyjo01 03-08-2003 05:14 PM

Tummy crunches... like mini-sit up just using the lower ab muscles basically ... No normal person can do crunches for 10 minutes... Can they?

RavenToy 03-08-2003 07:38 PM

Define normal? My son, the little rat, did 475 one night waiting for our pizza to be delivered.

Right now I could probably do about 20 total. While I was working out regularly, I could do 75 with no problem.

mauvaisroux 03-09-2003 12:38 AM

Well I went to Walmart today and bought some new gym clothes so now I have no excuse not to exercise :p

ellis 03-09-2003 06:58 AM

How about squats? Squats are great. I knew a woman who would NEVER bend over for anything... she would always squat. She was overweight, but she had the most AMAZING legs. Tom Platz legs. :D I was totally in love with her big muscular legs.
