Hey, Can I join in?

I couldnt help but to be drawn to this thread. You all seem so great. And yep, I took the time to read the whol bio page. I noticed there was some or maybe one Pagan amoung you. I have been studying wicca for about 3 years now, and have been overweight my whole life. Those two things always made me feel very cut off from everyone else. Anyway, I'm not going to sit here and type out some huge long sob story. I just wanted to see if another one could poke her head in and say hey! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

RavenToy 03-06-2003 08:55 AM

Ooo, hi there :) I've been interested in wicca for a long time, I just haven't found the right place to investigate.

blackbird 03-06-2003 08:57 AM

Hey! I've only been here very shortly myself....the vibe is super supportive. I've been interested in Wicca myself, but outside of reading a couple of books, I have no one to talk to about it. I live in the heart of the biblebelt..yek. So, welcome...glad you're here
blessings,
blackbird

RavenToy 03-06-2003 09:23 AM

Blackbird I love your sig.

Ya-Ya Chickie 03-06-2003 10:17 AM

Hi Silver Ravyn,
This seems like a pretty with it group, so I think
that you will find lots of friendship and
support here.
I don't know anything about Wicca but, I think if we all
liked the same things it would be boring ,so I look
forward to learning something new.
I'm glad that you are here.( P.S. I'm new, too.)

flower 03-06-2003 10:31 AM

Of course you are all welcome! We are a melting pot here! But I think that is why we all get along so well!!! :)

ellis 03-06-2003 11:21 AM

Hey Ravyn! Welcome to Alternachicks!
I'm a Christian, but it's a real mixed bag here, and EVERYONE is welcome!
We are so not critical of religious choices. OR sexual choices. Or... or... pretty much anything!

Rockette 03-06-2003 11:58 AM

Hi Ravyn! Just joined today as well! Looks like there's a few newbies here!

RavenToy 03-06-2003 12:07 PM

so. where's Stimpy now?

Sojourner 03-06-2003 12:53 PM

Welcome!

Yes... we have everything from pagan to atheist to Christian here... so you will fit right in (I am a Christian myself). Glad you found us and feel free to join in the fun! You might even lose a few pounds in the process!

mauvaisroux 03-06-2003 01:20 PM

Welcome Silver Ravyn! :)

Hey, we are just a bunch of fun, free spirited chicks that talk about everything from religion, sex, music, food, books, shoes ;) movies and the kitchen sink! Oh, yeah, and we sometimes talk about losing weight too

Lunula 03-06-2003 01:36 PM

Welcome, Ravyn & Rockette! Not to diss other boards, but I don't think you'll find a more supportive, diverse and non-judgmental group of people anywhere else. :)

ellis 03-06-2003 02:23 PM

Yeah right, Lunula! You're dissing them... come on... admit it!!

Sex? When did we start talking about sex?! :D

Ruthxxx 03-06-2003 03:03 PM

SEX! I remember it!
Welcome Ravyn and Ren from the
Old Triple-X-rated ConservaHen

dentrassi 03-06-2003 03:41 PM

WELCOME REN AND RAVYN!!!!!

Actually we talk about sex quite a bit!!! Watch out for Ruth and Ellis.....they are bad influences (and I mean that in the most fun way!!!)

squeaker 03-06-2003 04:35 PM

We talk about EVERYTHING. :) And we talk a lot.

Welcome Ravyn!

Lidian 03-06-2003 08:16 PM

Welcome Ren and Raven! This is such a terrific group - lots of talk and support and the best threads ever (not to mention the greatest group of women)...I have read a bit about Wicca and I have had my Tarot cards read (they were eerily accurate, by the way) but I have not ever done much with my interest...

We also talk a lot about vintage clothes, and movies and which celebs are cute - all of which is important stuff! And sometimes we also talk about diet and exercise!

Lidian

Silver Ravyn 03-06-2003 08:53 PM

Wow, look at all the great welcomes. I can just feel the red carpet....was going to tell you all about my WI, but I think I'd like to jump into the sex talks, I dont think I remember exactly what that is? LoL.

squeaker 03-07-2003 08:19 AM

Ravyn - talk about what ever it is that you would like. :)

On a side note - Just to show how much a geek I am - I own a deck of Tarot cards, and they all have Shakespeare characters & quotes on them. The Lovers are Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet is the Hanged Man, etc. I love them.

And on the religion thing - I am more or less agnostic.

Bagzz 03-07-2003 08:44 AM

just peeking in from the cows group----seems like fun over here!!! do you have to state your religion to get in???

Ruthxxx 03-07-2003 08:50 AM

Hey, Bagzz. No way you need to state your religion. We know that cows are agnostics! Come and join the fun.

mauvaisroux 03-07-2003 09:13 AM

Sure Bagzz! Come on over! And no you don't have to announce your religion or lack thereof

ellis 03-07-2003 09:57 AM

Gee, I dunno, girls... I'm pretty curious now about Bagzz religious bent.
Of COURSE you don't need to tell us, hon. (you do have to state your political stance and your sexual preference, however.) ****, who cares! Well, I have a born-again Christian SIL who cares. (nothing against born-agains... my husband is one. She's just over the edge... hits people over the head with the bible and tells them they're going to **** if they don't follow all the/her rules.) I'm a Christian with at least four Buddist statues in my house. Plus a lucky Chinese toad, and a bunch of other un-Christian-like things. :D

Squeak... more or less agnostic... heh heh.

Silver Ravyn 03-07-2003 10:29 AM

GOOOOOOD MORRRNInG ladies!! LoL. Its not really, but I'll do it like my orgasms and pretend, lmao. Anyway, how are you chickies doing? Me, well needless to say I'm run ragged and still have to go to work, blah.

I've not eaten yet, and dont know what I want. The cheesecake looks yummy, but heh I'd only feel guilt the rest of the day. Do any of you all just get burned out on healthy food? I'd love to find some new EASY receipes I can throw together.

Well I'd love to stay and talk, but I have to be at work by 12est. I hope all have a wonderful and OP day.

mauvaisroux 03-07-2003 11:55 AM

Silver Ravyn-check out our Fab food and Chick tips thread on this forum, we post tips and recipes their (only a couple right now). There are also some good recipes on the low-carb forum and the WW forum as well.

Are you following a specific plan or just trying to eat healthy?

Speaking of which, I will try to round up a few of my favorite healtht and easy recipes and post them in Fab Food on the weekend. :)

Wildfire 03-07-2003 07:45 PM

Welcome girls! I've been absent of late, but I can vouch for this gang....they're terrific!

Proudly Pagan for going on 18 years...RC before that.

Hiya everyone...

Silver Ravyn 03-07-2003 10:15 PM

Well there is one day of the long weekend down. Gah, I'm exhausted. Just wanted to pop in and say hey and see what was going on.

I'm doing WW. I've been on the plan for about 2 years now. I can honestly say its the only thing that has helped me though this trial.

Well I do hate to post and run, but I have to get my butt in bed. I have to be up at 5am. Gah. I hate working such long hours on the weekends. Hope everyone is having a gret night.

dentrassi 03-08-2003 02:21 PM

Squeak-TAROT CARDS?!?! My DH is really into them, and also loves Shakespeare. He is going to be envious when I tell him!!! He doesn't BELIEVE in them, uses them just for fun, and yet does the most accurate readings!!! He once told a woman that she was about to have a baby. She then told him that her doctor had told her she would be unable to ever have a baby. He responded, "It might be some kind of artistic birth, but it looks to me like a baby." She found out within a month after that that she was pregnant!!! He also used them to freak out management during union negotiations once. Just sat there doing readings when any of them said something really stupid!!!

ellis 03-09-2003 07:17 AM

Wildfire, how dare you abandon us for so long!! ;) Yeah, that's what happens to those RC's... they turn into pagans.

Tarot cards are lovely. I'd like to get a pack and hang them on the wall. Don't think DH would approve, though.

Mauvais, let's all publish a cookbook together! I'm hot for a money-making scheme right around now. :D

Silver Ravyn 03-09-2003 07:50 AM

Good Morning Ladies. How is everyone? Me, I'm going on about 3 hours sleep. DD has had a very high fever all weekend. It topped out at 104.7 last night. Needless to say I was in her room all night. I dont know who got less sleep me or her. At 4, she has never had that high of a fever.

Anyway, my eating totally sucked last night. With the stress and no time to plan, then if that wasnt bad enough, my journal got destoryed, it had a horrible run in with a cup of coffee. Yeah, coffee seems to be my down fall in more ways than one. Today is a totally new beginning for me.

I just realized I havent been doing awhole lot of journaling on this site, so I'm thinking of maybe changing that. I would lover to find an online journal thing but I'm just not motivated to hunt one right now, lol

Well I'm going to go and catch up on the posts. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

squeaker 03-09-2003 11:14 AM

I love my cards. Hanging them up would be a cool idea Ellis. But I want to use them. I will have to look for an extra set for decorations...

Den - they are very cool cards, but are out of print. I found my set a year or so ago. I don't completely believe in them, but I don't think they are completely wrong either. They are always interesting readings. :)

Ravyn - I hope you DD feels better soon! Also - I won't ever give up coffee either. Or tea, or hot chocolate. Something about the warmth and yummy taste.

Wildfire 03-09-2003 11:23 AM

ellis, I know...I've been a bad girl...but I am determined to lose some weight for all those sexy spring clothes I want....cursed catalogues and their siren songs...so I'm back! As for the RC/Pagan thing, I believe I was Pagan first and my mother tried to make me a RC. According to the old ones and family stories, anyway. ;)

There are some beautiful tarot cards available these days. I know someone who took an heirloom deck and framed the whole thing, collage-like, and has it in their living room. Very nice, and a conversation piece to boot.

Silver, I hope your DD's fever breaks soon, and that you both get some sleep! Oh, and you can get a journal right here on this site. In the menu at the top, click on "Members Journals" and off you go!

Silver Ravyn 03-09-2003 01:58 PM

Hello ladies. DD is doing much better. My eating is somewhat better. I miss my food journal! LoL.

Wildfire-I have a beautiful deck of cards I dont use, just for looks I guess you could say. You have given me a wonderful idea on what I can use them for. Framing this is a excellent idea. As for as divination, I prefer runes.

Its much too windy right now, here to get out and walk. I may get on the phone for a few and walk through my house. I have been so inactive for so long, I consider any movement good movement.

Well I will check back in with you gal pals later on. Have a great day.

dentrassi 03-09-2003 04:09 PM

Squeak-YUP!! DH said ,"WOW" when I told him about the Shakespeare deck!! He has a few different decks, but the Morgan tarot deck is the most interesting. Very playful (no arcana, they are ALL individual cards.) He WANTED a deck designed by DALI, but it was too expensive!!!

Ravyn-Glad to hear your DD is feeling better!!! I haven't used my runestones since I moved! They are probably still in a box somewhere!!!

Wildfire and Ellis-Neat ideas about how to use the decks!!!

mauvaisroux 03-09-2003 05:50 PM

I have at Tarot deck too. It is the Vampire Tarot by Nathalie Hertz. I got them at a games convention last year, I just loved the artwork on them but don't know how to use them. I may end up framing them and using them as artwork.

Silver Ravyn- I post my daily food journal on this forum if you want to post their to anyone is welcome. I am not always religious about it though and tend not to post as much on the weekends but I do find it keeps me accountable throughout the week.

dentrassi 03-10-2003 09:32 PM

Mauvais-Sounds like a neat deck!!!
