Some of the movies we consider fair B4 Christmas
Die Hard and Die Hard II
The Ref The Long Kiss Goodnight On the traditional note we enjoy 1. A Christmas Story-Widescreen, visually the movie is a masterpiece, especially the scene at the department store 2. Santa Clause 3. The Grinch who Stole Christmas (and not that awful Jim Cary thing, unless my son makesme watch it!) 4.Charlie Brown Christmas I guess we are pretty typical midwest family HO-HO Now I have a machine gun! Miss Chris:cool: |
Terri, that's a gorgeous story! :)
Nightmare Before Christmas... good one. We're going to watch "White Christmas" tonight. It's long and a little ho hum, (and I can't STAND Bing Crosby) but it's cozy. Ummm, I really like "A Muppet Christmas Carol" with Michael Caine. :D Rizzo the rat kills me. |
My sister and I used to watch "White Christmas" together and sing the "Sisters" song at each other. AHH! Those golden memories......(we also used to say things like, "Your mother wears army boots." "So, so does YOURS!"

Ellis, I don't see Christmas as being "stolen" - more like, borrowed and altered a bit... I don't care, to each their own - enjoy and celebrate - life's too short to do otherwise.
And believe it or not, this little Pagan had part of Corinthians read at her wedding too... Hmmm... married a Catholic, wonder why that union didn't work :chin: (kidding, religion had maybe 25% of the reason for our split) Cheez - Star Jones said that?????? Ok, back to movies... has anyone seen Dark Harbor??? What a FREAKY movie!!! It has Alan Rickman in it (big shock I wanted to see it huh?) but the ending is *twisted*! Terri |
I read that journal on Friday. I wasn't particulary offended by the comments as Christmas isn't a Christian holiday for me personally, nor was I offended by the President's Christmas message-to each their own I suppose.
I did find it interesting that we had a whole thread about paganism/different religions and we all managed to discuss our different beliefs and ask each other valid/informed questions without criticizing anyone or getting into an argument-that's why I love this forum and all you Chickies ~everyone here is so open minded and accepting of each other! :grouphug: |
I really enjoyed the movie "Fargo".

I'll never look at a chipper-shredder the same way again...
Terri  |
GREAT FILM!!!
|
DH and I went to see "Bowling for Columbine" on Monday. It is a fantastic film, but upsetting too. I laughed and cried my way through this one.

I loved Fargo! I think it is a funny, scary, and weird movie all wrapped up into one great moment. I love the police cheif (Can't think of the actor's name), but she was amazing! My favorite part was when she was taking the guy to jail after she caught him putting Steve Buscemi in the wood chipper, and she was lecturing him the whole time, in that great midwestern-scandinavian accent they have. A brilliant movie, and my Mom liked it too, which is kind of a miracle in and of it's self. LOL!
A Christmas Story is funny, I love that line! "You'll shoot your eye out kid!" How the kid was gonna be able to swing a bee-bee rifle around and shoot his own eye out is beyond me ... LOL! |
Den, I really want to see that, too.
|
What is Bowling for Columbine about anyway?
|
Guns? I did read a review a while ago and that's all that sticks in my brain.

YAY!!
I just purchased tickets for Saturday night to see Lord of the Rings: Two Towers on the MEGA screen. This screen is six times the size of a normal screen. WHOO HOO... can't wait. The only bummer is they said we should could come two hours early if we want a decent seat.

Mauvais-Ruth is partly right. It talks about the violent mentality in the US, and compares conditions here to conditions in other countries. Including Canada!! gets into gun ownership, school violence, and finds some FASCINATING connections in the meantime. Some of the stuff he reveals would be considered "too unbelievable" if it were fiction!!! You may already know this, but it is by the same guy who did "Canadian Bacon"
Ellis-You SHOULD see it, but bring tissues!!! BUT YOU STILL NEED TO SEE "CANADIAN BACON" They show some pretty graphic footage from different wars, and also show a lot of footage from the Columbine incident. I just kept on thinking, "That could be my kid's school." |
