And then one child will suddenly need one important piece of paper, and you have to turn the house inside-out to find it (even though you suspect you threw it out)...

I have a house filled with junk,er, I mean "treasures" too. The amount of things one family collects in 12 years is unbeleivable. I wish I could bring someone into my house and just say okay, get rid of this and this and this. But I am a pack-rat.
I am a little sore today. Upper body workout this morning! Feels gooooood.

...and the ONE thing you throw out you end up needing!!!

ellis 11-22-2002 01:11 PM

Yeah, like the property assessment. :D
I actually have a file cabinet. It's one of those MASSIVE four-drawer horizontal files. About 6 ft tall and 4 ft wide. It's jammed with gawd only knows what. I just want to blow the damned thing up and start afresh.

Junk! We are loaded with it! DH has Gourmet magazines from back when I was a virgin. He will keep a whole mag for one recipe! I also have fabric stashed away from 1974 but that's different. :D And then there is the loft in the barn! I pity my poor kids when I croak.

Slept and schlepped yesterday but am with it today. Mount Laundry is shrinking and some of the dog fur is in the vacuum. DH taught Lucy that the couch she ate ($1200 to recover) is a great sleeping place! Oh well, I'd rather have dogs than a perfect house.

Am getting back in the groove today. Really pissy weather, however. At least it's not snowing - YET!

when I had my guests over last Friday one of the ladies said she could spend hours just looking at all the stuff I had in my apartment....

Umm...Thanks, I think..... oh well, it looks great just don't anyone open a closet ;) or the oven :o

Ruthxxx 11-22-2002 03:40 PM

Back in the olden days, I used to put stuff to soak in the oven. My Mother opened it once when there was a 5 day old meatloaf pan in there! Eeeeewwwwwww! I wonder if that's why she thought I was a lousy housekeeper.
Now I just give stuff like that to the dogs to clean up AND I WASH AND JAVEX AFTERWARDS!!!

ellis 11-22-2002 03:44 PM

Oh my gosh, that's what I do, too. The former, I mean. :D

Ruthxxx 11-22-2002 04:07 PM

I told you we were related, Ellis! I'm even thinking of sending you my little prissy tea napkins with the S embroidery!

ellis 11-22-2002 06:17 PM

Scary, Ruth. Am I going to find you if I start digging about in my family tree? :D

I can so relate to the miles of stuff we can acumulate!

I am back. I sprained my ankle at the park at the University of Ca @ Davis. Ouch. I was chasing after my 2 yr old to catch him before he got to the street and my ankle gave away. It is so sore and so bruised. With the help of a stroller I was able to go to the mall today. I have blisters on my hands from holding the handles so tight.

My house problems...the house finally closed today, no $ till Monday. House apprasial needs to be done by the 25th. So we will do it before final loan writing. I have preapproval, just not final paperwork. The underwriter was writing it all out. I assume it is all okay since they didn't say no and send it all back.

I am so stressing! Well, off to put my foot up before it swells. ~flower

Mauvais-Sounds like you do what we do. We have so many unusual things (Like a gargoyle on top of our china cabinet picking its teeth!) that people focus on that it takes thier minds off of the piles of mail etc.!!!

Wanttolosealot 11-24-2002 02:34 PM

Boy it sure is quiet in here today. Was everyone out partying last night and you are still all sleeping? Or have Alliens from another planet captured you and took you home with them? If they bring you back, drop me a line and let me know what life is like there!

Well hello, darling. I see we're on the new server!

I did something very clever today. Instead of eating my lunch and then falling into a stupor for about 2 hours, I took a nap BEFORE I had my lunch! Now I'm fully awake and able (I hope) to burn off my lunch.

Virginia, just saw your pic! You're a babe!
