I am currently gazing out of my office window at the Gatineau hills, the city is below them and a pink, orange and grey/blue sky is behind them - beautiful! :df:

4. My health
5. Having a job
6. Loving people deeply
7. Being loved right back
8. A warm roof over my head with lots of food to eat
9. Nights like tonight, where the sky is filled with stars
10.Freedom to live my life as I choose (within reason)
11.Finding out my friend and her kids are coming home from Maine for Christmas. I really miss her!

Sunday morning Dim Sum :T Burp!

ellis 11-17-2002 06:58 PM

Thank you, Den! :)

I'm thankful also for my Jasmine plant. It's in bloom right now, and after about 10 o'clock in the evenings my second floor hall is filled with the sweet, heavy scent of the flowers. I confess, I used to find it sickly smelling, but now I realize it's a miracle that any house plant of mine is actually ALIVE, never mind BLOOMING!! :D

Ellis...I'm SO happy for you and your daughter,,,{{{hugs to both of you!}}}

ellis 11-17-2002 07:44 PM

Thank you, Kat. :) It's SUCH a relief!

It's really damp/cold out, and I'm very grateful that I have a nice warm house to come home to. I always think of people living on the street at this time of year. Getting ready to survive the long winter. There's something wrong that so many people die on the streets in this country. :(

I am happy that Ellis's daughter is doing well :) As the mom of a twelve year old girl coming of age, I hold my breath that she will make it through these years. So Ellis.....I am happy for you and your DD.

Ok, what else......... so much. There is an expression in Spanish that goes something like " Thanks to life that has given me so much"

I am happy and grateful for lots of things, not in any particular order:

(1) I was able to take some of the lemons handed to me early in life and turn them into lemonade

(2) I have always had my health.

(3) I've always loved and been loved.

(4) I was given a few talents and strength of will to make it in this world while riding solo for many years.

(5) That my husband and daughter found me and took up residence in my heart.

(6) That my husband and daughter are wonderful and they love me and look after me. That I love and look after them.

(7) That I've kept a good job that has allowed me to live life mostly on my own terms.

(8) The sky, the moon, the sun, nature, wind, waves, storms, snow, lightning, thunder, mountains, beaches.........nature, planet Earth.

(9) great friends - online and offline

(10) good wine and poetry

(11) all the food and cappuccino and wine at Vincents Clam bar in NY in fact....all of Little Italy in NYC and ok, some great Japanese and Greek restaurants too

(12) upstate New York

(13) train rides

(14) unscheduled free time to curl up with a book and a blankie in a chair with something good to drink and some good chocolate.

(15) Halloween and 4th of July and Thanksgiving and the spirit of Christmas

(16) homemade Christmas cookies

(17) the smell of fresh flowers, fresh cut grass, the air after it rains, things baking, great cologne on my husband's neck

(18) skiing followed by a hot tub and massage

(19) body surfing

(20) love making and orgasms

(21) good movies and good books and great music and dancing

(22) That I lived in a college dorm for 4 years and spent 4 great years there.

(23) pedicures and manicures and facials

(24) travelling - anywhere, anytime

(25) that I can say out loud that I am bi and not freak out about it

(26) that I am an American and don't take it for granted

(27) bubble baths and pretty undies

(28) that the world is a big place and there are so many discoveries yet to be made

Terri - and that is only the beginning lol

ellis 11-19-2002 06:52 PM

Thank you, Terri. :) And thank you for sharing your happies and gratefuls with us.

dentrassi 11-19-2002 08:09 PM

"Gracías a la vida que me ha dado tanto."

And I wouldn't have remembered that except that there is ALSO a song by that name!! I hear the words of a song, and I start hearing the whole thing in my head!! THAT is something I appreciate VERY much....unless it is a song that I hate!!!!!

ellis 11-19-2002 08:49 PM

Listen, egghead. What the **** does it mean? :D

squeaker 11-19-2002 10:19 PM

I am thankful for that Ellis started this thread. I love reading everyone else's posts, and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :)

And Den - I am with Ellis - What the **** does that mean??? ;)

mauvaisroux 11-19-2002 10:35 PM

I'll take a guess and say that it means "thanks for the life that has given me much".

Okay so I am an huevohead that took Spanish in high school

And I am happy and grateful that I can speak 4 languages :D
