OMG, Ellis, you crack me up every time!
I love Halloween! I've always been a fan of obscure costumes and I have a pretty dark sense of humor sometimes (when I was about 9 I went as a beat-up Avon lady, which was the punchline of a popular bad joke at the time). As a teen, Halloween meant Rocky Horror, of course! Having kids kind of brought me back to the Halloween thing, it's so much fun working on their costumes (especially when they are babies and have no say in the matter - bwahahaha!)
One year, my ds's first Halloween, we had quite a time. I went as Sylvia Plath, dh was Trotsky and 3 months old ds was Cardinal Richelieu ("Cardinal Fang, give the rack another turn!") Not everyone "got" it (esp. my mil) but we sure amused ourselves.
