who knew!

well, it took me days but i finally read through all the latest posts to find out where i belong, and this place feels the most...normal (?) Yes, I am a 'woman of substance" and not overly happy about that. I have always been heavy and will always be, but the health issue (now that I am ...45, geeze) is more of a concern.

who I am: I am a contradiction of everything, a Christian Feminist who likes to say the "F" word when needed, I am childless by choice, married with 4 cats, and 2 dogs, and dust bunnies the size of shetland ponies. I live in the states but work in China (the commute is a *****!) an artist and marketing director for a company in mainland China (where everyone is a size 2). I am in the process of being diagnossed with some rare and exotic desease that makes walking difficult, and writing even more so...
(not MS, Lupus, MD, Fibro...or anything else we can find) So I have braces on arms and legs, but still manage to clock over 100,000 frequent flyer miles a year. I know all the 'rules' of eating and still make the wrong choices and have been on many diets in the past. (the same old story)

I joined the group to get support for those days that I just need people around me who understand the concept of having more than one wardrobe (fat clothes and not so fat clothes) and who can truely sympathize with "Eddie" on "AB FAB" when she whined
'all I want are clothes that don't leave marks on me'.

So, if all you nice alternative people can accept yet another "looser" then scooth over, ginya is here!

HI GINYA!!! WELCOME!!!

ginya 08-30-2002 10:31 PM

thanks for the welcome! As far as loving Chineese food, believe me, you aint had any real authentic Chineese food unless it is crawiling out of the bowl. I have had to eat everything from deep fried pigeon heads to leeches...after a while you just stop asking what you are eating. No fried rice and egg rolls there. No bread, no sweets, no deserts,...I hate it! Even McDonalds do wierd things to the burgers, the Big Macs all have a fried egg on top! And the local Pizza Hut sells Pizza with squid (tenticles and all). God Bless America!

ellis 08-30-2002 11:52 PM

Hi Ginya... welcome from another foul-mouthed Christian feminist!

If anyone is interested in deep fried pigeon heads, come on over... I've got a freakin' ship-load of raw ones on my roof.

squeaker 08-31-2002 04:42 PM

Sorry I am late - But WELCOME!!!!

Where in China are you? I spent 2 weeks there about 8 years ago now I think. From what I remember I lost 10 pounds in those 2 weeks. The food was generally not too good. I ate a lot of rice and noodles and that was about it. We did go to a Pizza Hut in Hong Kong. :)

I have been all over, but generally spend my time in a place called Xiamen. A nice city on the ocean, tropical, hot and typically chineese. (5 miles from Tiawan by sea so politically it is an interesting place) I also spend a lot of time in Hong Kong. The only place in the world where you can celebrate Octoberfest by drinking german beer, served by phillipno waiters, singing beatle songs. Ah, the stories I could tell...

barefootgrrrl 09-02-2002 12:04 PM

Hi Ginya! Welcome!

I hear you.. I have clothes in sizes that range from 10 - 22. Can we talk??

3 out of 4 closets in this house belong to me and I cannot bear to part with a thing :) I need them all for that some day :)

Looking forward to getting to know you......

Sojourner 09-02-2002 12:08 PM

LOL... I figure that if I ever make it back down to a small size, all of those clothes will probably be out of style anyway. I really need to sort through all of that crap in my closet!
