soozie 07-26-2002 04:40 PM

Hey my dears. Hope you all are having a good day. I hesitate to say this but I know that this support system will only work if I'm honest so...I have to confess that I'm a bit pms and last night after I posted and went and ate two entenmann's donuts and some torilla chips with some cheddar cheese on them. It was a small binge...came and went...and I'm moving on...sorry I had a temporary glitch but I'm back on track. Today has been a good one food wise.

I'm really glad Ellis that you encouraged me to do 10 minutes of exercise today. Every little bit counts and it doesn't take much to get started on the right track. The guys are here finishing up our kitchen...can you believe they are finished. There is one cabinet still on order which should be here next week.

They are saying that the repair to our framing and foundation won't take more than two days, they are planning to do it Monday and Tuesday while we are at the shore.

I got off track but what I wanted to say was when the guys leave I plan to do an exercise video...even if I only get in 10 minutes I'm going to do it.

So, thanks for the encouragement and for hearing my true confession.

Glad you are joining us Shel !!!!!

Love. Soozie

ps Chris, our log cabin is really old. This community used to be a vacation area and these cabins were built for summer use only, hence all the weird problems with the original structure. It was built in the 40's I think, I have the exact date somewhere, I'll have to go check it out and let you know. The house was owned by a guy who worked for Sears and he covered every inch of the interior walls with light weight ugly Sears wood paneling. The outside is covered with wide plank Cedar siding. So, except for the roof line and the front porch supports and rails there are no visible logs.

When we had our bedroom redone five years ago we stripped off the paneling and had the room drywalled. When the paneling was down we could see that they had even planed down some of the wider logs when they slapped up the paneling. The logs could be restored but it would be a major job. The chinking would have to be redone and all of the electrical lines would have to be rerun in the chinking, etc.

Some day we will probably refurbish the great room. It is a living room that you walk into when you come in the house, with a cathedral ceiling and a large stone fire place. For now I'm going to wallpaper over some of the paneling in that room just to lighten it up.

Oh well, now you know the whole darn history.

I hope that everyone is having a better day than I am! This is one of those that I feel like if I could just cry I may feel better...it is either cry or rip someones head off!
Work started off bad with an arguement with a co-worker! I can't stand back stabbing trying to get ahead! If she put the effort in doing a good instead of working to bad talk me she would be better off! I feel like we are 2 kids competing for our Dad's (our boss) attention! Frankly he is good boss, but I am not that fond of him as a person, so she can have him all she wants!

Ok & have I complained about my inlaws lately? Let's start with the wicked MIL calling at 8am, to ask me if we are coming Sunday. We are, BIL & SIL are going to tell them about the baby, but we hadn't told her yet that we were. Then she says "you don't need to worry about bringing anything, I am sure that Jeff & the kids are needing some real food about now" OK first of all, I may be eating light, but they are still having what they normally eat anyway, so they aren't suffering in the least, & what it has to be fried, unhealthy, & full of calories to be real food? Besides my kids are now preferring all the fresh fruits instead of the normal junk when offered a treat after supper! THEN my SIL who had been pretty supportive of everything called to see what size I am wearing. I have a business trip in a month that I need business clothes & dresses for an entire week, we are casual at work normally. I told her an 8, (really a 10- an 8, but I am hoping that in a month it will be a solid 8) She says...exact words mind you..." I only have 2 suits in an 8, that I bought during a really fat period last fall. I just said "OH thanks" Why I didn't blast her is beyond me! Besides who is she kidding? First of all 3 years ago when she was at least 10-20 pounds lighter, she was in an 8. Does she think that I don't see her? Plus MIL keep reinforcing how she is an 8, I happen to know SIL has to be a good size or 2 above that, since she is bigger & they are the same height.

OK I feel better now! Sorry for having to put everyone through that! I think that I will treat myself to a skinny cow ice cream sandwich, & go veg with the TV! (If you haven't found skinny cow ice cream look for it! It is very good, Ice cream sandwichs, bigger than your typical popsicle type sandwich for only 130 calories. THey also have sundae cups, with ice cream & either fudge or strawberry topping for only 100 calories, very yummy, & a great light treat!)
:T

Soozie, our Log Home is the modern version, no visable chinking, although DH loves that & would have chosen that style had I let him, just a little too rustic for me. The exterior though is a lot of upkeep. every 2-3 years we have to wash it with a bleach solution to strip & clean the wood, & then have to restain. I like it most of the time, except when it is time to start that, and I do get tired sometimes of all the wood inside too. I would love to walpaper something!

Hello to everyone else & hope that you all have a good weekend, I will be back later when I am not steaming!
Have a good night everyone!

squeaker 07-27-2002 10:33 AM

juat a quick drive by -
I am in on the Sept. 15th challenge. I wanted to lose 12lbs. (to get down to 150) by Aug. 30th, but I am thinking Sept will be slightly more realistic. I am at 162 this morning.

Now get out and excerise!!!! :) I am going to Wingstock (something like 20 area restaurants & bars serving chicken wings, yum) so the diet will be completely blown, but oh well.

:cb: <-I cannot tell you how much I love this new guy.

:spin:squeak

soozie 07-27-2002 09:30 PM

Lotta sweat today working in the kitchen, no structured exercise though. Tomorrow supposed to go to the shore to visit friends, two women who have a little girl two years younger than our daughter, very dear friends of ours. I don't really feel like going, feel like getting house in order so I can feel sane. May just send kid and partner. And then go to beach as a family next weekend when house is in one piece. So ready to not have boxes everywhere and dust everywhere....

This challenge is really helping me. I actually think about you guys when I go to eat something. You're right here with me evaluating the decision. Also I just don't want to fink out and let you all down. So, thanks for the motivation. I'm glad you're joining us too Squeak.

Hope all is well ladies. Talk to you tomorrow. Soozie

dentrassi 07-27-2002 11:48 PM

Hi All!!!

Okay, you shamed me into it. I'll join too, but I'm only willing to commit to DOING it right now. Every time I set a weight goal I blow it, so that makes me really nervous. So......I WILL LOSE SOME WEIGHT BY SEPTEMBER 15th!!!
(Any significance to September 15?)

Hey! We all had a great time at the Rock and Roll Museum, the kids already want to go back!!! I'll give you more details later.

ellis 07-28-2002 08:38 AM

welcome back, Dentrassi!!

Gotta go and lose weight... back later.
xo

[email protected] 07-28-2002 08:58 AM

Hello Ladies! I can't remember if I repiled to the challenge or not, but I am up to it, I want to be at/or below goal by Spet. 15. I only have 7 pounds to get there, so I really want to be below that. But now that I have gotten to just 10 more to go, it is harder & harder to get the scale to budge! So I am setting my sights a little low on this one! Anyway I am all for that! Are we going to keep track of our own stats? Or do we want to designate someone? I don't mond, just have no clue on how to post it!

Soozie, did you go to the beach? You should have! That kitchen will be there tomorrow, just as same as it is today!

Well I have to finish looking through my closet to see what else I can get rid of! I found the shorts that I wore to our rehearsal dinner 11 years ago. THEY FIT! OK, tummy still needs a little work, but with some of those granny tummy sucker underpants they would work! Besides then I hadn't carried 2 giant babies in that tummy, a little jiggle should be expected!

Suzanne 3FC 07-28-2002 01:04 PM

Hi! Would the Alternachicks like to have a forum? It would also be nice to incorporate the Alternative group from the Support forum.

Please PM me with any input, good or bad :)

Thanks!

ellis 07-28-2002 03:41 PM

Providing I can still say, "****" and "damn" once in a while, it's okay with me. ;)

fluid_fiction 07-28-2002 08:28 PM

*blinks* a forum? for us?

THEY LIKE US! THEY REALLY LIKE US!! *dancies*

count me in!

mauvaisroux 07-28-2002 10:45 PM

Evening Fabulous Femmes!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I got most of my cleaning and laundry done and now I only have to figure what to wear on my trip and pack! 7days to my holiday:cb:

I just read Suzanne's post, how  I am up for it, how about the rest of you Alternachickies? Ellis and Shel did you Pm your answer or did you just post it here?

Hope everyone is doing well. Is anyone else up for the September 15th challenge? BTW I think Soozie accidentally started the challenge by saying that she wanted to lose 11lbs by September 15th, then Christina said that she wanted to lose by September 14, her daughter's birthday, that of course provoked me into opening my big mouth and chiming " yeah! lose by September 15th", see what you started Sooze!

Ellis, how is the Tae Bo coming along? You know, I have all 3 of Billy Blank's tapes and haven't done them for over a year:o
Maybe I'll dust off the tapes and have another go at them!

I was going through a box of photos and cards on Saturday when I found some cards from our wedding. One of my friends had written a quote on the card she gave us. I liked it and thought I would share it with you:

Who is a Success?

That people are a success who have lived well, laughed often and loved much;
who have gained the respect of intelligent people and the love of children;
who have filled their niches and accomplished their tasks;
who leave the world better than they found it;
whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul;
who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it;
who looked for the best in others and gave the best they had.

(Robert Louis Stevenson)

Good Morning Chickies! UGH...The first day of another long week! How do I find a job that pays me for 40 hours, but I only have to work Tuesday & THursday? Course when I find that I am sure that magic diet cure will be just around the corner, guess I won't hold my breath! Daughter was saying that she did not feel good when she went to bed, she wasn't up at all during the night, but I am kind of hoping she mentions it this morniing, then we can stay home together & sleep! (I know bad Mommy, I am not saying I want her to be sick, just maybe mention it & then be fine by 9 AM, once we get more sleep!) Ok I guess that I better get moving! Have a good day everyone & drink your water!

ellis 07-29-2002 06:56 AM

Hey darlings

Mauvais, that RLS quote is lovely... thank you for sharing it with us.
Yeah, get out your Tai Bo tapes. I feel so good when I'm doing it. (okay, I feel like I'm gonna die, but I feel good afterwards)
It's very empowering for a woman knowing the correct way to kick and punch.
Yes, Soozie started THE CHALLENGE on another thread. I'm doing it, too. And a sweetie named Kat. (there are a lot of Kat's around here) I just don't want to talk about it too much, because then I'll screw it up. But I'm in!!

Chris, I hope your daughter is okay. I mean, I hope she's REALLY okay, but that she's a little queasy for a brief moment while you call in sick to work.
Hey, it's a mental health day! We all need them.

Den, get your butt in here and tell us all about your holiday. How's your toe?

And where the heck is everyone, anyhow?!?!

xoxo

Ruthxxx 07-29-2002 03:48 PM

Bllllleeeeeeccccccchhhhhh!
The darn Fair is over - now I get my life back - little bits back anyhow. I have to shovel throught the financial manure and write a few reports for the end of August. Then close the books Sept 30, prepare the Annual Report and I'm off!!!!!
A forum of our very own? See what you started Mauvais?
I swear this calls for DIM SUM!

squeaker 07-29-2002 06:44 PM

Wow!

A whole forum for us! Niffty.

Yes I am rejoining the world of Alternachicks. No more RL interuptions hopefully, at least this week.

Things have been a little nuts and I also needed a day or 2 to just completely chill out and re-group.

Work is nuts. I have inhereted a project I slightly worked on last year. I was told "put these numbers there" and that was it. Now my boss thinks I am an expert on it. I have NO freakin' clue how it works. I only helped the person out who used to work on it, and she wasn't thrilled I was helping. I didn't get much information. And the person who worked on it has since left our dept. Plus my other major project is still chugging along. I am still the only developer. But I have gotten about 100 out of the 200ish programs done. But of course the criteria for the reports and which ones they even need is changing weekly. But since I am not offical lead - I don't get told of the changes. But the lead is out for at least a month, so we will see. I still dont want the project so I just keep my head down, and mouth shut, and program. Most of the time I don't have the brain power, or sometimes even the desire to play on my computer when I get home.

Sister #1 (there are 2 - a 22 yr old and a 15 yr old) is ready to give birth "any day now" as her doctor said. And oh my is she HUGE! But she actually has been a much easier person to get along with the last few months. She needs to stay pregnant. ;)

Skipped Wingstock (a cool Buffalo food fest featuring chicken wings) - and went to a baseball game instead. I probably would have been better off at Wingstock. I had a hotdog, fries, ice cream & a soft pretzel :fr: But the Bisons (the home team) won. Woo hoo!

Other then that, I have been doing ok plan-wise. I have actually stuck to writing down what I eat for over a week now. And the last 2 days I have committed myself to 10 minutes of exercise. Plus I scrubbed my kitchen yesterday which was a workout in itself. :)

Oh - and with all the Ottawa vs Toronto stuff - while I have never been to Ottawa I actually like Toronto. I spent 2 weeks there for training in May/June. And I am driving up there Friday with Sister#2 to see The Hip. It is only about an hour & a half away. I am going to take her to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch and maybe stop in the Eaton Center for a bit. I took the whole day off, so I might as well do something else fun before the concert.

How is everyone anyhow???

Chris - Did you get to stay home? It is much more fun then going to work :D

Den - How did you like the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Was the specail exhibit still John Lennon? That whole place is a blast!

Ellis - I am with you on the challenge thing - I will do it but I am not very good at keeping my goals, so I will but I am going to be quiet about doing it. ;) And keep going, you Tai Bo woman, you!

Mauvais - Are you excited about your trip? How long are you going for?

Soozie - The kitchen all done yet? I hope so, along with all the funky wiring problems.

Ruthxxx - I am glad you at least partialy have your life back!

Shel - I love all your fly by posts. You seem very upbeat. :)

Kat - How are things???

Thats all from my way too damn hot apartment for now.

:spin:squeak

:cb: <-still love that guy

mauvaisroux 07-29-2002 08:06 PM

Evening everyone!

Squeeker-glad to see you back! I am so looking forward to my trip. I will be in Milwaukee for 9 days, whee:spin:

I just posted a big blurb about our thread/forum, there seems to be some confusion about Alternachicks. If anyone one else wants to chime in their feelings feel free and I hope no one is offended by what I said, I was just speaking for my self and my reasons for starting the thread in the first place.

Catch you later! :cb: (love this guy too)

dentrassi 07-29-2002 11:32 PM

HI ALL!!! Just how many of us ARE menstruating right now? I know that this has happened with women I've lived with, but i never even dreamed that we'd get in sync over the net!!!

Mauvairoux-I really was offended by what you said, and am awaiting an apology. Seriously, what is there to be offended by? Listen-does your husband have a "day job" or is music his only job? DS#1 is talking about music as a career, and basically i told him that not many people "make it" so he needs to be prepared to have a second source of income or be willing to suffer for his art!! (One friend of ours learned to make guitars and violins and does that around performing.) This could all be a moot point, as in the past year he has wanted to: 1) go in to environmental sciences, 2) join the diplomatic corps, 3) be a social studies teacher. Actually, it is pretty exciting being that age and having so many choices!!!

Squeak-YES!! The Lennon exhibit was still there. It was wonderful, although parts of it made me want to cry. The whole museum was fun!! I want to go back, and next time get the 2 day passes, so that I can see more and do it more slowly too. ALL of us liked it, including my Mom!! The kids were great. I told them they could pick something out in the gift shop (CHEAP like!!) DS#1 chose a Zappa CD, and DS#2 picked a George Clinton EP (YES!! vinyl!!) They both are talking about going back again. Next time I have to take hubby though, 'cause he was too sad being left behind......(funny, when my Mom and I took the kids to Frankenmuth he didn't mind missing it!!!) (He now insists that I clarify...my sweetie is a John Lennon devotee, and would very much like to see the exhibit. I know he'd love the whole museum. Except for the Pop Idol section...PUKE!!!) Okay, we also went to the Hard Rock Cafe there, so I have now been to TWO of them with my mother!!! We were at the Hard Rock Cafe in Toronto in the late seventies.....

Ellis-HEY BABY!!!!! HOW YA DOIN'? Has your new refrigerator arrived yet? My toenail is a lovely variegated burgundy with grey undertones. Understated yet insouciant. Ripe and pungent with possibilities. With a delicate plum-y aftertaste. At least that's what the doctor said. (He SAID he was a doctor anyway.) We also went to the Science Center while in Cleveland. DS #2 LOVED it (he's REALLY into computers and all things technical. He MAY be the first person in our family to get a career making serious money. Unless he sticks with his idea of starting a business in our basement creating video games!!) He used to tell me he wanted to be just like Bill Gates, but luckily he has outgrown that. He's strictly a Mac guy now, and helped my sister's sweetie pie pick out her new system!! He is always trying to convince everyone to go with the latest biggest Mac with the flat screen. Just wish our income fit with his desires!! (Or mine for that matter!!)

Ruthxxx-Glad to hear that the fair is all over except for the screaming, AND that you survived it!!! Hope this means that you will be able to come post more often!!! I think it calls for a SCOTCH!!!!

Christina-Hope you got your day off!! Hey, we all need mental health days every so often!! Don't wait for your daughter, just DO IT!!

Shel-Either that or they want us off where we won't bother anyone else......
Sounds like you have been feeling happy!! You have been doing lots of dancies lately. Fun and good exercise too!!!

Soozie-Hope you are having fun at the seaside!!! Hope ALSO that there have been no more nasty surprises with the remodeling.

Kat-Let us know how you are sweetie!!

Colleen and Kahuna-Are you still here?

Hey, are we going to have an official weigh day with this challenge, or be more private about it? I'd like to hear when you each lose weight, 'cause it helps get me motivated too. I did a lot of walking in Cleveland, but ate a lot of good food too!! I need to get back into walking here AND cut back on the food. Did pretty well today though!!

dentrassi 07-29-2002 11:46 PM

Kat -WE MOVED!!! Click on Top of Thread, and DO NOT click on Buddy Up. Instead look below that for Alternachicks.

Ruthxxx 07-30-2002 08:22 AM

Good morning! Great to be back to alleged normal!

Worked at the Office for a good part of yesterday cleaning up the last dregs of money. The Bank called - they could not open my night deposit bag from Friday so the $18K was still not in our account! Sheesh! I told them to cut open the damned bag and get that money in there as I have mega-cheques coming through!

Yesterday had its own crisis! A worried mother called to tell us her daughter (15) had run away with the carnies! The Midway rides and workers left town at midnight Sunday - some of them going to Lombardy, some to Napanee and some to North Bay. Our cops are on the job and have notified the other cops to be on the lookout! How the heck are they going to find this girl? She has tattoos and a shaved head which means she will not exactly stand out in the world of the carnies!

Hotter than **** here today. Our AC is running but not blowing cold air! Time to dig out the fans like the Olden Days! It must be awful in the cities where the air quality is rotten too.

Hey - can I start a new thread for August 1? Any suggestions for the name? Alternachat? Alterna*****?

I'm also in on the Challenge for September 15. Now that we have our own Forum we can start lots of threads - Scotch drinking 101 comes to mind.

Hey Mauvais and Ellis - Let me know what Saturday morning we are gonna Dim Sum.

Tubby time! Have a great day everyone.

ellis 07-30-2002 09:04 AM

Cute, Den. How the heck is Kat supposed to read your instructions when she doesn't know where we are?
Your "doctor" sounds like a perv. What else did he do with your toe? :dizzy:
Listen, tell DS#2 that; while he may love Macs, he'd better get a PC if he plans on playing any of those computer games. ;)

Ruth darling, aren't you a moderator? Doesn't that mean you're supposed to be staid, sober, and politically correct? What the **** do you mean by all this swearing?
Oh, yeah... Dim Sum... Mauvais... when are we meeting with Ruth?

Squeak, I like Toronto, too. I was just *****ing because it so hot. There really are some pretty neat things to see there.
You're going to be an auntie!! Lucky you! You've got a 15 year old sister? Geez, I'm ancient...

Is everyone else lost?

My fridge is coming today. I've taken off one front door so the movers can get the old fridge out and the new in. What if I have to take off the frame, too?!?! Why do I get the feeling that my house was built around this honkin' big fridge of ours.

squeaker 07-30-2002 12:53 PM

Popped in here to avoid eating a HUGE amount of chocolate. I just have to keep reminding myself work isn't *that* bad.

Ruthxxx - Personally I like Alterna***** :)

Ok - gotta try and figure out what in the **** the stupid programs on my desk do. :p

:spin:squeak

[email protected] 07-30-2002 01:08 PM

OK I think that I am confused:?: I know...no one is surprised by that in the least! I don't usnderstand, I couldn't find you guys for awhile:mad: Now I am here, but I think I must have missed something, because frankly none of what I just read makes any sense....I know you still aren't surprised. Anyway, I am just going to join in now & pretend that I know what the heck is going on!

I didn't get to stay, little monster said she felt just fine when I asked! We did leave late, I didn't come in until 10AM, just had to make sure that she really did feel fine!

Well today it is official! I have lost 40 pounds! :cb: Or as my DH likes to put it, a 5 year old! (My daughter weighs 40 pounds too!) When I say 40 pounds I am impressed with myself, when he says a 5 year old, I am disgusted that I was ever big enough to lose that much! I just laugh & say "yeah, but I carried that 5 year old well!" Anyway, then the day got even better! I went to look for a new pair of shorts that I could keep to wear & look good in for my Daughters Birthday Party in early September. I really wanted to wait until I could see what looked best for that exact day. Well I started to look today (I work in the mall management office, so I shop everyday!) Anyway, My friend noted that I better get them now since they are getting scarce & will not find any even Mid August, so we went on the search! I found 1 style left that I liked! I COULD WEAR THE SIZE 6!!!!! I haven't worn a size 6 since Jr High! OK granted, they are probably running bigger than they did 20 years ago & these are also probably a larger size 6, since everything else I have is 8s & 10s...but I don't care....THEY ARE A 6! I asked if it would be OK to wear them inside out so everyone could see!
Well now that I have shared my news I guess that I need to get back to work! See you chickies later! Have a great day!

dentrassi 07-30-2002 02:53 PM

HI!!!

Ellis-OKAY SMARTYPANTS!!! The post shows up on our old site too, so she'll see it there!!! (Besides, you know how much I like inconsistency, so posting a helpful guide on the wrong site should make sense to you!!) I lied about the doctor. The toenail really is disgusting, but it is no longer infected and I haven't seen my doctor since before the trip. She never said any of those things. I was just trying to be disgusting. Hope all the refrigerator delivery gyrations are going okay!!! Hey! Congratulations on that one pound loss!! That is great!!! I gained a pound on vacation, but considering the way I was eating that is not so bad!! The walking must have helped. DH and I did get out for a short walk today. I need to build that back up again, but it felt good to get moving.

Christina-Congratulations on that 40 pounds lost!! That is a major accomplishment!! That is also 160 sticks of butter!!! About being confused.... don't worry, that is a perpetual state for some of us!! :dizzy:

Squeak-NO CHOCOLATE.......NO CHOCOLATE........NO CHOCOLATE!!!!!! Besides, if you do, I may have to too!!!;) Hope things chill out at work!! Too bad you couldn't avoid the project. Is that the one you were talking about earlier?

Ruth-I agree with Squeak. I kinda like ALTERNA*****. Speaks to me on many levels.... HEY!! I like Scotch 101 too!!! How many carbs in a shot of single malt anyway? So a 15 year old ran away with the carnies, eh? I'd be having a fit if I was her mother, but what exactly are you supposed to do about it? Hope all the loose ends tie up soon and tie up NEATLY!!! I bet you are glad it is DONE!!!

To the rest of you-come on and post!!!!

squeaker 07-30-2002 06:41 PM

CONGRATS CHRIS!!!!! :cb:

Ellis - Did the fridge fit or is it now stuck in the doorway?? (ok that is just an evil thought)

Ruthxxx - Hopefully you will find the girl. And while I know this is a serious thing it just seemed so funny that someone actually ran away to join the circus. Ok carnival, but I never actually thought someone would really do such a thing.

Mauvais - How many more days? ;) Are you all packed? That should be a fun time.

Den - My mom has decided she got something on her shirt from the Rock Hall so we will just have to go back so she can get another one. We all loved it. I don't know how long the exhibit is there for. Originally it was only suppose to be until October of 2001, so we went last Sept. It is defintaly amazing to see, though the glasses he was wearing when he was shot were very hard to look at. I may have only just turned 3 when he was killed, but I am also a John devotee.

And sorry you may have to eat some chocolate.

I blew 420 cal :fr: on a piece of cake called Chocolate Confusion, but I did hold out until 2:45. Thats when I figured out I had what I thought to be a massive problem. It may not be quite as bad as I thought, if certain decisions are made the way I think they are going to be. If not, then I have to learn a programming language I don't know in order to fix the programs, or bug the one person who does, who already has enough other stuff to do. If this whole budget project does take up lots of time my Canada project, which is the one I have been working on, will fall way far behind. The biggest problem is if I am stressed out enough, I start eating everything not nailed down.

And sorry girls, I am not in sync with the whole cycle, mine isn't for another 2 weeks. But I am on the pill so it never changes timing to fit with others.

To everyone else - come out, come out, where ever you are.......

cheezit! Major editing job... how did anyone decipher THAT!?

I got my fridge!! la di da...
cheeze... what a ***** of a job. The two guys turn up... first guy looks at my old fridge (they have to remove it) and says, "Gee, nobody told us it was a BIG fridge." What the **** is that supposed to mean?! And then he says, "It doesn't have wheels on it. I've never seen one without wheels before. We might scratch your hardwood floors." Duh. Don't you have mats, you idiots?!
Okay, so they take the doors off it and take it outside. Then they're man-handling the new one in. They get it into the little front hall and BINGO!! It doesn't fit through the inner door. To cut it short, I finally told them to leave it there in the hall and I would remove the door frame. Which I have just finished doing. With my trusty saw.
Oh, and listen to this... one guy says, "Your husband's gonna freak out when he sees where we've left your fridge."
Uh, sorry honey... I'm not married to that kind of guy!! I have a husband who is NOT an ******* and who does not freak out!!
Anyhow, my fridge is plugged in and is in the kitchen. It's NOT in place, however. I have to clean the floor first. Actually, my DH is going to clean the floor when he gets home, because there is a dead mouse back there. blah.

Okay, party at Ellis's house!! Fridge is ready!!
xo
gotta go look at my fridge again.

ps CHRIS, congratulations!!!

Den... YOU smartypants!! Hey, you only gained a pound! Good for you!

later darlings...

HI! Thanks ellis for showing me the way...I can't stay and play now, getting ready for a "Dinner Date" with hubby...it's our 19th anniversary, but if he comes in and sees my unshowered keester sitting in front of the computer...I don't know if I'll see 20!

Will check in later or probably tomorrow when I can read everything and get to know everyone...

see ya!

mauvaisroux 07-30-2002 07:32 PM

Hi everybody!
(Hi Dr. Nick! sorry I watch too many episodes of the Simpsons)

:hb: CONGRATULATIONS KATRINA! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Ellis-you got a fri-idge! You got a fri-idge!:cb: good lord! Us alternachickies could have done a better job at moving your fridges than those two! tweedledum and tweedledee were there names I presume?

Chris-congratulations on losing the 5 year old:cp:

Squeeker- only 4 days until my trip! This is so cool, the hotel we are staying at has a hydrotherapy spa and a waterslide park inside it! I am so packing my bathing suit, cellulite be damned!

I started a weigh in thread for us if anyone wants to post-optional of course!

I was wondering if anyone wanted to start a food journal thread, exercise thread , or products we like/recipe thread? We don't have to post obsessively, just when we want to or feel the need to.....So, who is going to start the Scotch 101 thread? ;)

Umm... maybe Alterna***** could be our venting thread:lol:

ellis 07-30-2002 08:38 PM

where am I?

Didn't I post and congratulate Chris? Where the **** am I?!?!?

Oh, wait a minute.... I know where I am!

NO!! I don't!! I thought I just congratulated Kat in Lesbians...
oh gawd...

soozie 07-30-2002 11:42 PM

Girls, I've been behind because I guess that the move wiped out my automatic emails that notified me when someone posted in the alternachicks site. I just spent over an hour reading everything in our new forum. Can't really respond to everything individually but, know that I heard you, and I care, in a very personal way so...You are great, weird, funny, interesting, lost in the 3 fat chicks web site, really ?, hmmmm, you don't say...(Choose appropriate response to your post, feel free to add smilie of your choice. Thank you, your personal and intimate friend, Soozie)

The kitchen is finished except for one cabinet. The electrical is finished. The foundation of the original house and framing are repaired!!!! The house will not fall down.

YAHOO!!! Now we just have to wait for a new front door, new tile by the fire place and in the entry area by the front door and new carpeting.

Then the entire house will be done and we'll be broke and in debt up the wazoo. But, I'll be losing weight with the alterna*****es! oops, I mean alternachicks.....

Chub-ba-bubba Sooze. :spin:

ellis 07-31-2002 06:57 AM

You have a fireplace, Soozie!?! Waaaah! I want one, too!

Kat, I think I already said this, but

Happy Anniversary!!

Ruth, has that girl been found yet?

xo

Good Morning Chickies, I hope that everyone is well!

Happy Anniversary Kat!!!!:hb: I hope that you had a fun, romantic & naughty evening to celebrate!

Soozie, ALL DONE? I didn't think a house was ever done! There is always something lurking waiting for the most inopprotune time to require more work! Just think though if you sink all your money into a house, there is nothing left for snacks!

Ellis, OHHH a dead mouse? Ick! I think that I would have made the old movers take it with them...haha! We had the same issue with our fridge last fall! I thought the delivery men were going to kill me, when they had to take off our front door & the doors off the fridge just to get it in the door. It always makes me laugh that they act like it is the first time they have ever ran into that problem, when I bet that it happens at least once a week!

Mauvis, Have a great time on your trip! We will all be waiting for the post cards!

Hmm, 160 sticks of butter too. That sounds pretty bad too! I wonder what other comparisions I can come up with!

I wonder how long until I can say that I am a size 6! After yesterday mornings delightful shopping, we went at lunch too! I got another pair of shorts & a dress ALL 6s! My girlfriend says I have to wait until most of my clothes are 6s, anyone my big stuff now! (Even if it still fits, I would be willing to get rid of it just to declare that I am a 6!)

Ok need to get to work. These silly people actually think that I work to earn my money, so I have to make it look legitimate from time to time!

Have a good day to everyone else that I missed!

fluid_fiction 07-31-2002 02:56 PM

Sheesh! My ISP was down today and I am in InterNet withdrawal!

Welcome new chickies - this is a pretty nutsy place but everyone seems to fit in well. Square pegs in round holes? Never mind! Don't take that one any further!

So - what are we gonna do about a moderator? Am I stuck with it or does someone else want the job? Anyhow, tomorrow I am going to close this thread and start one for August. What shall we call it? Alternews? The Whining Weekly? The Monthly? Help me here!

No word on the kid who went missing with the carnival - not that the cops will tell us anything!

My friend Rob's sister died this week so I am off to steamy Belleville for the funeral tomorrow. (I am Rob's grandmother - he is gay and calls me his fairy godmother.) The good news is that there is a great Chinese buffet place on the way home at Napanee - Hmmmmmm! I have not had restaurant Chinese since early June. Shall I?

Frassing AC is on the fritz - blows air but not cold air! Seems to be missing the point. I've been sleeping with a big square fan blowing on me and am NOT happy about it - especially since the dog joins me to get cooled off. The AC guy might get here tonight - if not, he will be here in the morning. I've not yet caught up on my sleep since the Fair - maybe tomorrow night?

Gotta go figure out something for dinner that does not need an oven. Maybe clam pasta or pasta with pesto? My basil is in great shape even if I'm not!

Catch you later.

mauvaisroux 07-31-2002 07:35 PM

Hello Fabulous Femmes!

Whee:spin: only 2 days left of work then I am on holiday for 10 days!

How about "Alternachat" for the August thread? or maybe "Pass the meow mix" no wait isn't that the venting thread? I'm confused-so many threads so little time:)

Ellis- how about Saturday, August 17, for the Dim Sum get together with Ruth. I 'mbusy this weekend and will be in the U.S next weekend. Is that a good weekend for you? how bout you Ruthxxx? If so where do you want to meet and when...PM me one way or the other.

Ruthxxx- I told Jennifer 3FC that I would be moderator if someone showed me the ropes and the rules...I haven't a clue but I don't mind learning how to do it. Sorry to hear about your friend's sister, that must be really tough on him.

Shel-glad you found us, pop in on Friday if you have time for a longer chat.

Christina-way to go girl! I can't believe that you are now almost a certified size six:cp:

Soozie-Iam so jealous that you have a fireplace! Glad your reno is almost done and no animals or partners were harmed in the making of this kitchen:lol:

Dentrassi-ewww your toe! Hope it gets better soon!

Tiggerdiva- hope things are going okay with you...

Hey, what happened to the other two ladies, did we scare them off?

Gotta go and pack now!
Seeya goils!

dentrassi 07-31-2002 08:27 PM

HI!!!!!

Soozie-I'm jealous too!!! I love fireplaces. Glad to hear the kitchen is done though!! Exciting to fix up the house, but a PAIN IN THE *** to live through!!! Seems like yours was done pretty quickly though!!

Mauv-I love all the names that you AND Ruth come up with for new threads!!
Thanks for the toe wishes. It doesn't hurt anymore, but it sure looks bad!! I have to wait until it falls off or grows out at this point!!

Ruth-Sorry about your friend's sister. I'd say YES! stop for the Chinese buffet!!

Christina-YUP! And I still have MORE than 160 sticks of butter hanging on me!!! We could get pretty strange, you know, like...YOU HAVE LOST 40 cans of beets!!! Or YOU HAVE LOST 320 2oz JARS OF MOISTURIZER!!!!!(not including the jars..)

Shel-SEE YOU FRIDAY!! (hope you can check in before that!!)

Ellis-We are posting at the same time!! HEY!! If you three meet for Dim Sum, try to get pictures and post them here!!!

HI TO EVERYONE ELSE!!!!

Ruthxxx 08-01-2002 07:09 AM

Just bumping this up for reference purposes. I'll close it too. We can now post on the August thread.
Gee, Mauvais, I've stomped on your territory. Hit me with a shrimp toast on the 17th - OK?

ellis 08-01-2002 07:33 AM

Chris, that poor little dog. You were very sweet to pick him up.
Let us know what happens. I hope that your friend is alright...

Oh! Fire and a sing-song at Soozie's! Sounds lovely darling. We'll all be there for Christmas.
Listen, could we NOT talk about fires on one of the hottest days of the year? It's going up to 34 degrees C today, and there's a Humidex warning. Which means that elderly people should be lying naked in their bathtubs in a few inches of cool water with a whiskey and a magazine.
I will be lying on my bed in front of the fan all day with two hot children, watching movies and eating popsicles.

Okay Den and Sooz... we'll try to get pictures of Dim Sum. Do you want to see US or the food? Ruth, Mauvais... my camera is on its last legs. Have either of you got one that works? Ruth, how is your friend? I hope he's doing alright.

Mauvais... almost holiday time!!!

Shel... are still there?
