Hi, my name is Jean and I am 63 years old. I need to lose about 50 pounds and it sure would be nice to have some friends to be able to talk to while I am on this long journey. I am married with 2 cats (hence the user name 2catslover). Anyway, hoping to find some people in the same predicament I am in, Older and Overweight.
Hello there! My name is Deanna and I will be 53 this year. I used to come to this forum many years ago when I completed my weight loss journey of over 80 lbs. I kept it off for many years but then gained half that back due to recent health issues and life events. I am back on track and this site here offers great support and knowledge. When someone tells me "oh its so hard for old people to lose weight"....I tell correct them that although older people may lose weight more slowly it is possible and just watch me do this lol. Good luck to you!
Hello ladies, I am also looking for some online support in this journey. I am 50, type 2 diabetes, mom of 2 daughters (16 and 22), and looking to lose about 47 pounds. Catlover, we are also kitty lovers at my house and we recently adopted 2 kittens so our place is a little zany at the moment. (in a good way) Deanna, you did it once, you can do it again!
Hi Jean, I am new to the site. R u still on? I'm 56 and wish I had 50lbs to loose. More like 80-90 for me to be at my goal. Let me know if you are still on and how you are doing : )
Don't panic, BellaLuce- One pound at a time! Things have been a bit quiet around here but New Year always brings a few people. I've just transferred over from the 40+ sub-group. I'm here to lose more than 100 pounds. Let's get started!
Thanks Magicsusan! I'm in!!! I have dieted for a long time and am a typical YoYo in this arena. But now I am worried about weight/age and believe I am ready. I gained back 30 Lbs in 2017 and it scared me bad that I let this happen. I had lost a bunch of weight but was still significantly over. Have joined a few of the challenges on this site to motivate and check in weekly. If I lost 100 I would be at my heights goal. but I'm thrilled if to lose 80-90 and increase my chance of living a healthy and long life. Are you doing any challenges, exercises, etc?
You know what, BellaLuce, I haven't really looked into that yet. I've started "My Fitness Pal" with one of my daughters who is trying to lose just a bit of weight, but mostly just get fitter... My goal in the moment is to lose 1kg/week. I know it's a lot, but I'm pretty heavy so I think I should be able to keep that up for at least a couple of months. That and exercising at lease 3x/week, though exactly what that's going to entail, I'm not sure. At lease 3 days with 10.000+ steps? Dumbbell work for my batwings? (love bats, hate batwings.)
Cat lover here as well - currently fostering 4 neo-natal kittens! I have dropped 22 pounds since January and have hit a plateau for the past 3 months - sigh.
A bit about me:
Over 50
Menopausal
Looking to lose 18 lbs more
Canadian - living in Malaysia
I have become far more active and last week managed to get myself a Polar Ignite watch - so now tracking all that activity. I HATE counting calories.
