Carol Sue ~ I have a wireless mouse for my lap top. I can use either the touch pad and my finger like a mouse, or the wireless mouse. The wireless mouse has a little thing that plugs into the side of the lap top and it makes the computer "recognize" that something (the mouse) is there. You're right ~ there is no cord ~ that is why it is called wireless.

Here are pictures of:

The wireless mouse, the little thing you plug into the computer, the ports where you plug it in, and the little thing plugged into the port.

Hope that helps

Hi Everyone,

Back to good eating. Had an accident on 2/28 - fell off a segway & the segway fell on me. Hurt my shoulder, leg, & ankle. LOTS of bruises & pain, but nothing serious. However, out of action for the gym. I start PT tomorrow. Will take some time today (after I finish my taxes) to read through the posts.

Hope all of you are well.

Lynn

love2garden 03-14-2016 03:56 PM

LynnOUCH for your fall and the injuries. You hit lots of spots with one fall. Hope the PT gets you OK.

My Taxes are done. Waiting on one piece of info for estimated taxes then DH will take them over to Mary our wonderful Accountant. Mary Good for you in helping your son with his taxes.

77 degrees here and sunny. Will go out and transplant a Lenten Rose frun UNDER the Burning bush to a shady spot between Garage and Garbage Shed where it will shine with pink blossoms. Ferns and Epimedium (bloom yellow soon) will snuggle in around those ever green, waxy leaves of the Lenten Rose (First bloomed in first of February and still going till June!!!!

CarolSue your husband's Kitchen experience sounds familiar. Glad we all quit deep frying here. Doing without some good stuff like DH's great Egg Rolls.

House has windows open as I vacuum. I somehow feel this is healthier. Knee is doing good so far today, but I fear the transplanting I'll be doing won't be kind to it. Knee shots on Wednesday and I do have medication if I need it.

maryea 03-14-2016 06:22 PM

Haven't gotten anything done here at home today but went to the gym and then the grocery store. "Rested" too long when I got home, online too long.

Carol -Yes, that's the way the wireless mouse works as Glynne described. I have a completely wireless system...computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. The same USB sensor works for both my mouse and keyboard, but the printer just works after it's installed on the computer. The computer detects it. This is my 2nd wireless mouse and keyboard I think, possibly 3rd, can't remember for sure. Wouldn't want any other way now. I can print from my tablet and probably from my phone but haven't tried that, however my son has printed from his laptop with my previous printer. Love technology!!

The doughnuts sound good. I wouldn't eat anything plastic had melted into either as some of it when heated lets off toxic fumes. I used to make doughnuts:( They aren't one of my craved items usually but if they are around I will eat them for sure! Dh buys us one each now and then. I have two fond memories about doughnuts from our travels. When we were in London, we were in this Bed & Breakfast that wasn't far from a doughnut place. Their doughnuts were greasy and very yeasty and at first I thought they were kinda yucky! But the more I ate them the more I loved them...definitely got hooked. Then one year we exchanged our timeshare for a place in New Orleans and we found out about Cafe Du Monde...and their fabulous beignets. We would take a walk everyday to get our fix and sometimes take some back to our unit! In case you don't know about them, they are a deep fried pastry with powdered sugar on top similar to a doughnut but not round and no hole. You can google for pictures. Whenever I think of New Orleans I think of them. I even brought back a picture of Cafe Du Monde. Thank God I wasn't a diabetic then!

Makes sense what you say about the weight, Carol. I was kinda joking about my body remembering 160, but I read a book once where this lady was trying to lose a lot of weight and she said every time she reached a lower number that previously she had been at for a long time (years ago), she would be stuck there for a while no matter what she did..and she was told that the body will try to stick to a weight you have been at before in life. I don't know but I found that a little hard to believe, but who knows maybe that's why we have plateaus after a while:?:

Sandy - 77 degrees sound so nice! GFY. It's in the 50s here and a little windy (at least this morning when we were out) and it's cold. Hope your knee survives the planting...don't push it too far.

Welcome back, Lynn - That was quite the fall..fortunate you didn't break anything.

Bye for now...

Karrine 03-15-2016 06:12 AM

Good morning everyone,
I have just a Doctor Appointment this morning to get the results of my red blood cell count which has been too high and caused me to have Anemia. So far, they haven't found out the source of my internal bleeding via the colonoscopy but my last visit to the doctor 3 months ago indicated that my red blood cell count has slightly improved. I'm hoping for the same result today. I'm also hoping my BS level hasn't increased as he said it was getting high the last time. I don't use sugar in anything but I am eating quite a bit of carbs.

Carol that is really too bad that the melted plastic got into the Crisco but freshly made warm doughnuts sure sound good.

Lynn to sorry to hear about your accident but glad you are back on the road to recovery. Good to hear from you.

Sandy You are having awesome gardening weather. Your Lenten Rose sounds beautiful.

Mary I have a wireless printer and used to have a wireless mouse but I found that the mouse was using too many batteries so I hooked up my wired mouse again. It doesn't bother me as my computer stays in the one spot so I don't even know the difference.

Have a good day everyone,
Karrine

Wannabehealthy 03-15-2016 06:49 AM

I googled wireless mouse and saw the little dongle that plugs into the USB port, but don't recall seeing that in the box with the mouse at Goodwill, but didn't know to look for it. My Fitbit has a dongle like that for transferring your information to you account on the computer. I don't really need a mouse. I am fine with the wired one I have, but just thought wireless would be nice. Maybe we would go through too many batteries like you did, Karrine.

I hope your doctor is able to find the source of your problem and it isn't anything serious.

Mary, when I was thin back in my 20s and 30s, I was averaging 137. I wanted to be in the 120s and I could struggle and get down there, but couldn't stay there. I did stay in the 130s for years but put a lot of weight on after I got married. DH is fattening. LOL I know I will never see the 130s again.

DH could live on doughnuts. He buys 3 at a time and eats all 3. The only ones I like are jelly filled and will only eat a very small piece if at all.

Lynn, I'm so glad to see your here! I'm sorry to hear of your injury. A segway always looked like fun to me, but not fun falling off!

Sandy, I've missed you, too. I also love to open the windows when I'm cleaning. It seems to freshen the house, and when one of us is sick we try to have the bedroom window open for a while during the day to let some of the germs go out the window. We don't know if it helps, but it makes us think it's helping.

Our weather is warming up too. The buds are out on the lilac bushes, which means I will be housebound for a month or so. I am highly allergic to them. I will have to take a walk around the yard to see what bulbs are poking through. I hope winter is over, but in PA you never know. We have had snow on Easter in the past. I remember going to church in my new Easter dress and my boots. LOL

Carol Sue ~ you might not have seen the little thingy for the mouse that plugs into the port on the computer if it was packaged like mine. The mouse folds up and when you unfold it, there is a little compartment where you can store that little thingy so it doesn't get lost. It feels kind of like it is held in place with something magnetic. Here are more pictures of that ~ hope that helps.

The folded up mouse, the underside with the little compartment for storing the "thingy" and a picture of the "thingy" in the little compartment.

maryea 03-15-2016 05:17 PM

We are waiting for the service man to come and put in our custom glass in the new garage door. It will be a cathedral style which will match (in shape) what we have on our door. The size won't be the same and it won't have a design on it but will be similar in shape. They put them in from outside so we don't have to be here but we want to be. After that our plan is to go get some groceries. I forgot several things the other day.

I do not have a place in my wireless mouse that holds the sensor device. I just leave it in my computer all the time. My mouse looks like any other mouse except no wire. The sensor device (plugs into USB port) usually comes with the wireless mouse so I would not want to buy a mouse without it. However, perhaps it is possible to buy them separately I don't know.

On batteries....my batteries last quite a while and I'm on my computer off and on all day, every day. I only turn my mouse off if I'm going to be away from the computer a few hours or at night. But I have found I have to buy the better kind. Can't remember right now what they are called but they cost a little more, but you can get them anywhere.

Wouldn't it be fun to be 130# again! I think my perfect weight was probably around 120-130. I have a fairly small frame so much more than that is too much really. I could even weigh less than that and be fine and was for many years. My weight challenge really began after my 5th pregnancy when I was 34 but from age 18-34 I went from 103#-140ish and I gained 24-25# which each pregnancy. My highest pregnancy weight was around 174 I think. That was my last one. I had no problem dropping the 25# but the challenge/struggle and dieting really began then. I realize now if I got down as low as I used to be I'd have a lot of sagging skin so that's why I am aiming for about 140.

I did fairly well on my eating yesterday but last night dh offered me candy he had bought just for me. And of course I ate them. My bs was better than usual this morning. My weight was down another 1/2#, not new pounds though, still just trying to get down to sig weight again. Life is strange sometimes.

Karrine 03-16-2016 05:49 AM

Good morning everyone,
My doctor visit yesterday went very well. My red blood cell count is still too low but it hasn't changed or gotten any worse so we won't be doing anything more about that unless it does worsen. My BS level is also on the high side but no worse than last time. He told me to watch my sugars. I told him that I don't use sugar for anything at home but I do eat too many carbs. He was quite happy that I've lost weight since my last visit.

Carol that is really too bad that you are allergic to lilacs as they are so beautiful and I love their fragrance. Years ago I had a lilac shrub but had to remove it to put in my double driveway.

Mary I too worry about sagging skin if I lose 25 more lbs. I'm hoping that it won't be too bad but even with another 25 lbs. off I would still be overweight but would look and feel a lot better.

Hi to everyone else and have a good day,
Karrine

Wannabehealthy 03-16-2016 08:37 AM

Karrine, many general practitioners don't realize that it isn't only sugar that raises blood sugar. I think when they go to school they touch on a lot of different subjects but don't get into detail about some unless they are going to specialize.

I am also concerned about loose skin after losing weight. That's why I'm only interested in losing no more than maybe 25 lbs. I will be no where near my perfect weight, but that would be enough to greatly improve my blood sugar and blood pressure. I can't afford to have skin surgery, which you have to pay for out of pocket, and too much loose skin would be just as hard to accept as the fat, to me. Since I rarely lose more than 5 lbs, I don't have to worry about that for a while, or maybe never. LOL

One time at work a woman seated near me brought in a big bouquet of lilacs to put on her desk. It was so terrible for me. I actually started to feel that I was going to pass out. I was new, so I didn't speak up, but I was so glad when those flowers died. LOL

Gayle and Mary
, I'll bet that wireless mouse I saw did have the little thingy tucked in somewhere, because it appeared to be brand new in the box. But it didn't appear to be a good one, so it might now have worked well. Oh, well, now I know what to look for in the future. Shouldn't have listened to DH. He's not as smart as he thinks he is. (shhh, don't tell him.)

maryea 03-16-2016 03:22 PM

Our garage door looks very nice with the new cathedral windows. Not sure it was worth the extra money but right now I can't even remember how much extra it was. He said it should last 30 years so guess that's good enough since it is unlikely I will have even close to that time left in this house. Strange when we get to the point we think about that, isn't it. Yesterday dh and I were wondering where the years went...seems like the youngest two were teenagers about to graduate and now they are almost 39 and 41. And we retired in 1995...so it's been almost 21 years since then ..both seem impossible!

When I have a wireless mouse and/or keyboard they tend to drop through the empty space at the back of the little pullout shelf where they sit. Very frustrating. So I prefer wireless. Seems like there are always so many wires/cables anymore, it's nice to have a few less. My new printer is working fine. I notice the print is not very dark but that may just be the ink that came with it. When I buy new ones hopefully it will be a bit darker. Haven't tried anything with color yet.

Yesterday after noon, I ate 1/2 of the tart size marionberry pies. We share them now and then. It was very good but also very sweet, and soon after I ate it I felt extremely sleepy and lay down for a nap. I slept 2 1/2 hrs! When I woke up dh was home and it was almost 8 pm. So I didn't fix dinner. Dh had leftovers and I just snacked. My weight is the same...still 2# above sig. Guess I haven't been trying very hard. So far so good today but have only had breakfast :D Because of that long nap I couldn't get to sleep last night. Finally after 1 am I took 25 mg Benedry and still struggled to sleep. Finally did sleep but was too sleepy even at 9 am to go to the gym so didn't get up til after 10 and still felt sleepy! It is almost noon and I feel like I need a nap, but making myself stay awake as I want to sleep tonight.

Working on my Easter menu. I'd like to make scalloped potatoes but I'm not very good at getting all the slices thin enough to cook evenly, however dh is better at it and he said he will do that for me. We have a couple things we can use...one came with our pans several years ago and supposedly you can make nice slices with it. Dh uses it for hash browns, but I never use it. Also recently bought a mandolin type but it came with no directions for all the different blades and I haven't figured it out. Was about to give it away but will give dh a chance to figure it out first.

Also trying to learn how to match up the Lularoe pieces I have bought. I feel like I don't have enough plain tops. I have a lot of tops but they are not long enough for leggings. Friday I will pick up the latest and only complete outfit I have bought from my dd. Want to see whether the top will match some of my other things. If so I should be set for a while except I need some workout leggings/pants. The ones I buy in the store always roll down my belly. Considering Lularoe capris for spring/summer as so far the regular leggings do not roll down. I have not washed them yet though. I will have to order them from another consultant too as my dd does not sell them.

love2garden 03-16-2016 07:16 PM

Mary, Scalloped potatoes are such a delightful treat. Mom made it for our Wedding Breakfast back when Wedding had to be in the Morning in the Catholic Church. We had the reception in our home (both our parents were near retirement and my dress was one Mom made for me for the High School May Festival. We had a beautiful wedding!!! Don't understand these huge amounts some put in a Wedding.

Our Son and DIL were married simply also in the Church. DH made Veitmese Egg Rolls in the Basement Reception at the Church where they went to College. No one had more fun than we did with her family from Texas in mobile homes on our lawn, spread out in the house, and trying to find the left ddress shoe for her brother who was in wedding. He was sure he packed them.

Glad the garage door looks so good. Amazing how much up grades cost, but they really do make a huge difference.

Dr. gave me the lubricating shot #1 of 3 in my right knee. Didn't even hurt, but does let me walk easier. I bragged on the wonderful job he has done to keep me mobile with comfort.

What is with this struggle to sleep. I went to bed early (we had to leave to go to the city early) and yet at 3:30 am I was wide awake no matter what I did, so I gave up and got dressed, prayers, and read a good book.

Weather was fantastic again today but I was stuck inside most of day for different reasons. Tomorrow I'll be out and hope the weather holds. Ted is calling me, be back tomorrow.

Sandy

Good evening GG's,

A partly sunny day today. It is spring break, so we have Maddie all day every day.

We (Maddie and I) played with a toy she brought from home this morning ~ that was fun.

She has had a couple difficult “moments” the last couple days. She used to have them on a more regular basis, then things improved and it has been a while since she was difficult. I think it is because things are coming to a head at her house and there is a lot of stress and anger going on. Poor little girl.

Sandy ~ your memories of your wedding brought back good ones about mine. We also had a more simple one. I think they were more like that in that era. We had our wedding at the church I grew up in. The rehersal dinner was held in a room in the back of the church ~ my husband's parents cooked and prepared the food themselves right there. The reception was held in the basement of the church. It was kind of fun ~ that some of the wedding party who were out of town stayed in the homes of people I knew or relatives. My husband's parents stayed with my piano teacher. My husband, his brother and a cousin, stayed with one of my father's aunts. I think the people enjoyed doing this ~ made them feel like they were a special part of it, and made the guests feel at home and welcome. My father-in-law ~ a Baptist minister ~ married us. My wedding dress was sort of home made ~ a local lady who did sewing in her home made it. My bridesmaids were dressed in dresses that were like Holly Hobbie ~ the prairie bonnet and all. It was different ~ but we were different I guess. I tried to be considerate of my parents financial situation and tried to do things so that it wasn't so costly. They didn't have lots of money.

Sorry you had trouble sleeping Sandy ~ hopefully tonight you will be able to rest better.

Mary ~ sorry you didn't sleep well either. Ooooo ~ scalloped potatoes sounds good. I loved when mom made them ~ she didn't very often, but I wish she had ~ it was one of my favorites. Glad that your garage door turned out looking nice.

Carol Sue ~ awww ~ that is too bad that you are allergic to lilacs and can not get to enjoy them. I too think that I may never have to worry about the sagging skin. I will either never lose enough, or lose it so slowly that maybe it won't be saggy.

Karrine ~ glad your doctor visit went well. Congratulations on losing enough weight that your doctor was happy about it. How is your ankle doing? How is your tenant. I have forgotten ~ has she had any tests yet and heard any results? Prayers for her continue.

Gonna get to spend some time with Sara and the kids this weekend ~ that will be fun.

Almost bed time. Hope you all rest well tonight.

Here is a picture of our wedding group ~ Dec. 18, 1976

Karrine 03-17-2016 06:20 AM

Good morning everyone,
I go for my ankle physio therapy appointment this morning. I sure will be a happy camper when this thing is healed as it is causing me too much grief since the beginning of January. On my way home I'll stop at a jewellery store I know to get a new battery for my watch. I can park right in front of the store so I won't have to walk far. I made a steak with potatoes and veggie last night for supper but haven't decided yet what I'll make today.

Carol I can't afford to have skin surgery either and am hoping that all will be ok if I can drop 25 more lbs.

Mary I'm sure your new garage door really compliments the looks of your house. I love scalloped potatoes but haven't made it in years. Once when I made it I cut the potatoes a little too thick and it didn't turn out very good.

Sandy I had a morning wedding too and you brought back fond memories but it sure made for a long day. I had the evening dinner & reception at a big hall and the food was catered in. I had a very good disc jockey dancing. My parents had limited funds but they managed to cover the expense. My new husband's parents paid for the bar expense. Glad the lubricating shot in your knee has helped you. My tenant had one of those injections in her hip yesterday.

Gayle that is great that you are babysitting Maddie all week. I'm sorry that the turmoil in her home might be causing her to have difficult episodes. So far, I haven't noticed any real improvement in my ankle but like I said, this new ankle brace sure is helping me to walk better. I do find it very difficult to get to the washroom in the middle of the night without the brace. We are still waiting for my tenant's CT Scan appointment (the last test to be done). Then we go to the surgeon for results. Thank you for thinking of her and keeping her in your prayers.

I absolutely love the wedding picture which shows the bridesmaids outfits. How unique plus you look beautiful too in the picture. Thank you for posting it.

Have a good day everyone,
Karrine

We had a very small wedding. We were older, in our 30s and it was Jerry's second marriage. We went to the church with immediate family and the minister just had us exchange vows. No actual ceremony, and light lunch at our house afterward, which I prepared that morning. LOL My dress was not a wedding dress. My step daughter says I got married in a prom gown, and I guess I did. It was May and I bought the dress from a regular store, not a bridal store, but I didn't feel that I looked like I was going to the prom. I will try to find a picture and post it. The morning of the wedding I got up and tried on the dress with a long slip that I had. Here, that slip had a slit down the front that showed through and looked terrible. I made DH drive me to the mall and I ran into 2 stores to find a slip. It was really funny. DH said you're getting married in a couple hours and you want to go to the mall. That was the first time I ever bought something without even looking at the price tag. It was $12.

DH loves scalloped potatoes. Mine never turn out right no matter what recipe I try. The recipes are usually for a large quantity and I try to pare it down for two people. My mother made delicious scalloped and augratin potatoes but I just can't duplicate them.

Gayle, your wedding picture is very pretty. Your husband is very tall compared to you.

maryea 03-17-2016 05:47 PM

Just got home from Costco. Since I have a new printer, of course, it will require different ink cartridges. I hate that because I have lots of ink cartridges already, not realizing I was going to buy a new printer. I had an HP and now I have an Epson but even within the same brand you usually have to get different ones. I found one package that had never been opened and was able to return them for $62+ (with tax)! I asked if I could also return the opened package since the cartridges them selves have never been opened and she said I could. She said just seal the package lightly because we can't resell them. So I have it ready to take back, but I still have 5 more cartridges of various colors that are just in a plastic tray (no package) so I am sure I can't take them back. As far as I know there is no way to prove they came from Costco. I might take them with me when I go back and just show them, perhaps they can return them but I doubt it. At least I will get a refund on two of them. We had lunch there...shared a pizza.

Dh is working in the yard now and I am going to clear out ds' toiletries out of our main bathroom and transfer mine in. I'd already done some but crowded it up in the wall cabinet because he was coming home sometimes. Don't think he will be spending the night here much anymore...possibly if he's too tired to make the hour trip to his new home...but so far that hasn't happened. He was spending drill weekends here but now he's with a new unit and goes a different direction. I will put his toiletries in a box in his/the spare bedroom now so he can get them if he does come home.

Weddings - I had a Sun afternoon wedding. Dh thought that was strange as he thought all weddings were on Sat but Sun afternoon was a typical time in our church at that time. Mine was also small...maybe 40-50 people. I didn't plan it to even be that big but the pastor of our church announced it to the congregation so more people came than we ever thought to invite. :D I no longer lived in my home town but this was the church where I had gone with my parents for much of my growing up years. My mom and my aunt and probably some of the ladies from the church prepared the reception food I guess...I honestly don't remember thinking much about it. I searched all over town (where I lived which was larger than where I grew up) for my dress..it was the only small sized wedding dress I could find. Remember I only weighed 103#. The dress was a size 5 and they had to take it down all over to make it fit me. I think it cost about $30 which was a lot on my small income at the time. My bridesmaid and dh's best man were our closest friends. Dh and the best man stayed out late playing pool and I got a bit concerned they wouldn't make it, but they did. The ring bearer was my nephew..he was about 9 at the time, and our flower girl was his sister, my niece and she was about 4. She was shy and wouldn't go down the aisle when it was her time, so she followed dad and I down. I didn't know she did til I got to the altar and looked down and there she was. Guess there usually are a few slip ups at weddings. My dad was on the wrong side but insisted he was right when I told him, then after we started down the aisle, he whispered to me that he realized he was wrong. I told him don't worry about it now. How silly it all seems now. :D We were both nervous but I was more nervous during the ceremony and dh was more at the reception. Marrying a man of a different race/ethnicity was a big thing back then esp in the mid-west. My family was concerned about it, but when my aunt saw him, she said now she understood why I fell for him. :D I don't think many thought we'd last but we are going on 54 years. My parents and siblings all grew to love him and when my brother was dying, he told him he was a good bil. God had it all planned, but that's another story.

I agree, Sandy, that people spend too much money on weddings these days.
Seems to be it's better to have a small wedding and use the money to better your lives together. I tell my children, it's the vows and marriage that matter, not how fancy the wedding is.

I exercised quite a lot yesterday even though we didn't go to the gym. We won't be going the rest of this week as we have plans for both tomorrow and Sat. We will be babysitting Sat night over night too. For some reason now that it's free we are having a hard time getting to the gym.:dizzy:

Even though I was at Costco I forgot to buy chicken, so guess I'll go back to some store for that. I am fixing Crispy chicken (in oven), mashed potatoes with cream gravy, and steamed broccoli. After steaming the broccoli I will quickly saute it in a tiny bit of olive oil as dh doesn't like just plain steamed veg. Last night I made a beef and asparagus stir-fry and served it with rice for dh. Made more sauce than the recipe called for as that's the way he likes it. I took one small bite of the rice. The beef and veg were very tasty.

Well need to get to work..have a good weekend.

Dh and I when we married.

Karrine 03-18-2016 06:17 AM

Bad news,
My tenant got the results of her bone scan yesterday and it shows that she has cancer in her bones. We still need the CT Scan done to see if the cancer is in her organs as well. Needless to say, we didn't sleep last night. Please keep her in your prayers.

Mary That is a beautiful picture of you and DH.

Have a good day,
Karrine

Karrine, I am so sorry to hear the bad news about your tenant. You both will be in my prayers.

Mary, that's a nice picture. What year did you get married? I can see why you were attracted to Joe and he to you!

I'm going to have to find a picture of me in my prom gown. LOL

Thanks for the kind remarks...we were married in 1962. Dh was 27 and I was 19. LOL, when I look at that picture now I think we look like a deer caught in the headlights! So serious, little smiles. I think we were just worn out after the wedding and reception. Only one pic was taken at the wedding (that I know of)...don't think my family even owned a camera...after the wedding we did get one snapshot taken outside I think by my sister. I did want you to notice my small waist...:D don't think I'll ever see that size again! I think it was 24" but that's not really that small when you realize my other measurements were bust - barely 32, hips 32. I was pretty straight but didn't realize it at the time so much. It was only as I gained weight that I began to see it. The picture was not in color, but dh worked part-time for a while in a photography studio and learned a little about touching up the pics with color so he added a bit of color to it.

Karrine, I am so sorry to hear about your tenant's diagnosis. I have prayed for her and will continue. Please let us know how things are going if she doesn't mind, that will remind me to pray.

Today we went to our dd's house to pickup the complete outfit (skirt, top and kimono) but when I saw the top on me, I didn't like it. The skirt and kimono were cute but I decided not to get them. I want to try and put together some outfits with what I already have first. I did buy a couple more leggings...they are so comfy and addicting! The trick is to have tops that look good on me and are long enough to cover my tummy and bottom. Each consultant only has so many and they go fast! My dd was to get in some new inventory tonight but will have open house tomorrow so I know a lot will be gone by the time I see them on FB. But these leggings I bought today are so cute. One is various colors that go around the legs and I have an orange top that should match them. And the other is navy blue with tiny red squares all over. I esp love the blue pair and plan to wear it Sunday with a non-Lularoe top I have and have never worn. It is a reddish orange pattern but I think it will look ok as from a distance the leggings just look navy blue anyway and close up they are just very small. So I guess I am slowly beginning to understand this different kind of matching a bit. I will wear this with the black kimono with little flecks of gold in it that my dd gave me. The kimono I tried on at her house was a tan and would have looked good with it but my shoes will be black anyway and the gold flakes will help to bring it all together I think. I'm glad I remembered this top because it will also go well with my plain tan leggings. I have plenty tops in my closet but most are not long enough for leggings. I will try and post a pic of these two pairs of leggings if I can. I'm having fun with clothes for the first time in a long time. :) Her clothes go up to 3X so it's not just for skinny people.

ETA: This is a beautiful coral top that does nicely with these leggings, but it didn't look good on me...I don't like them really long and this style is very long...but a lot of women like them that way. They have 4 styles of tops.

Karrine 03-19-2016 06:03 AM

Good morning everyone,
I'm finding it very difficult to accept my tenant's diagnosis of cancer so yesterday was a bummer for both of us. I didn't make dinner so we ordered in a pizza which was nice. I'm making a chicken today which will last for a few days. My tenant's method of treatment will depend on whether the cancer is in her organs. We still didn't hear anything yesterday on when that appt. will be. On top of that we are both a little crippled (me with my ankle and tenant with her hip). It is going to be very difficult for me to walk the distance from the parking garage to the cancer center at the hospital when the time comes. I have asked my daughter and DH if they could put outside my patio & front porch furniture for me on Easter Sunday when they come down as I am unable to do it this year. It is all stored in my basement crawl space. They said they would do it for me. I know it is a bit early to do that but I need to take advantage of the help as they don't often get here to visit. A little snow (if it happens) won't hurt it.

Carol thank you for your prayers.

Mary thank you for your prayers. That's great that you are basically redoing your wardrobe. The leggings and tops are very colorful in the picture you posted. I can see why you would get addicted to a pair of comfortable leggings with a top that covers tummy and butt. I would need to do that too.

Have a good day everyone,
Karrine

Wannabehealthy 03-19-2016 08:50 AM

The clothes are very pretty and colorful, Mary. I think I was expecting to see you modeling them, LOL

Now that I know the year you were married, I remember back when pictures were black and white with color touched in. I never really thought about Joe being so much older than you are, but now I remember you said he had his 80th birthday.

I think the much longer tops on shorter women tend to make them look shorter. A lot I see look as if they are wearing the leggings with a short dress. I saw a pair of leggings in the store than seemed to be attached to a short skirt. That's probably for the younger gals.

love2garden 03-19-2016 01:36 PM

Carol Sue Never thought about the lack of color in pictures, we were married in 1957, but I do remember haunting a studio of friends and he let me watch him work. He added color to mine and to DH's, too. Don't know how to add picture, but we have it hanging in the hall between our house and Mom's former apartment (now our TV room and extra bedroom) Neat story about finding a slip. Aren't you glad those days of working so much are behind us?
Agree that long tops on me (I'm 5'2") make me look like a toadstool. Got one beauty that is going to Goodwill next trip.

Mary Good to hear you really are helped by the legging and are having fun matching them with tops you have already. I never thought about the fact your husband is from Philippines could cause a problem when you married. I've always been so interested in people who were born elsewhere that I'm attracted to them and drive them nuts with questions. Guess some people are not feeling as I do. Glad you two have been together so long.

Gayle Hope you and Sara is able to enjoy some time together. Maddie sounds like she is growing up with the "difficult" times becoming more and more rare.

Katherine So sorry about your tenant's diagnosis. Sure hope it hasn't spread to internal organs. Glad to hear the ankle brace is helpful. Sometimes those really make a difference. The knee brace I was fitted with was so terribly uncomfortable I simply gave up on it. If i stood, it hurt, if I sat I hurt, if I walked it really hurt. I could hurt less without it.

Cold and rainy here but will accept the rain to settle in the dirt around the transplanted perennials I've done this week. Really pleased that this week was such a good one. Lunch Bunch yesterday let us sit at a table with the women I really like in the Book Club. DH and her husband had a great time talking. I met more new people at that Church and am so glad we changed to suit DH and now it is suiting me, too. It is only 2 miles further than the one we went to for 30 years.
Taxes were taken to be filed, groceries bought and put up, laundry finished, now time to write checks to mail tomorrow when we go to Church. Post Office is one block away, very convenient.

DH made his famous cabbage rolls again today, so we'll have great early supper today. Our teams lost yesterday in the NCAA Tournament so basketball is not as interesting today. Tomorrow I want to watch Hawaii and hope they win.

Time to get to finances, Enjoy your weekend, Sandy

maryea 03-19-2016 08:42 PM

Well, we are not babysitting tonight as we thought. The youngest is sick. Probably just as well as I finally finished up my housework and I'm tired now and it would be difficult with a sick child. Her brother has just gotten better too and is still coughing some too. This morning we went to the martial arts class...we had a break and during it we went to Costco to return the other package of ink cartridges. I grabbed a quick small burger and fries (didn't eat all the fries), and we also picked up some stuff for the lawn at Lowes. Then went back to the martial arts studio for the award ceremony where our gs was awarded a new belt and dh was privileged to tie it for him in the ceremony while dad and mom took pictures. We all went out for ice cream afterwards. It all filled me up so I haven't even been tempted to eat anymore since. I'm glad because my weight is almost down to my sig weight again. Before coming home I got my hair cut, went to a new place and he did ok, I think.

Sandy - To add a pictures you first must scan it into your computer, save it as a file and finally add to your post as an attachment. Glad you are happy in your new church.

Carol Sue - Yes, dh will be 81 next month, and I just turned 73 last month. We are getting old but most days I don't think about it. My dad lived to 88 and was fairly chipper until near the end. He always said he didn't mind if he had to live in a nursing home, he was a social person and I think he made the best of it.

Karrine - I am continuing to pray for your tenant. I also prayed for you too and that both of you will get the help you need at this time. Yes these leggings are colorful. I'm having fun with it.;) Today I wore the real colorful one into Burger King and the young gal behind the counter, complimented me on them. I still feel they probably wonder why an old lady like me is wearing them, but we older ones need the comfort more than ever and they really are comfy! I have seen a few older women wearing them and I think more will in time. One was at least my age. Anyway I think we should be able to wear what we like no matter our age as long as we are decent! I see young women wearing them with short tops and some look really cute but I wouldn't do that outside my house.:o I also will not wear the short skirts with them but do wear them with knee length or little longer dresses. I've also seen some women who condemn leggings wearing extremely tight jeans...I really don't see the difference. So far no one has made any rude remarks at least and my dh and sons don't seem to care. I can't comfortably wear jeans anymore and these take their place.

They are buttery soft, usually the way they are described and so far still no rolling down over my belly. Hope they stay that way after they are washed. They do recommend you not put them in the dryer. I usually hate that but I like them so much I don't really mind the slight inconvenience so far. But until recently I have only worn my plain colored ones, and a couple times my valentine ones (little hearts all over), so today is the first time I felt very wild! :D I hope to get some dark plain tops to match everything soon. I have a heather gray top coming and hope it looks good and it should match the leggings. Some of the plain colors esp if light show my belly too much....and I think I need to wear darker or patterns on top and brighter on bottom so that's what I'm trying to focus on buying right now.

We are having leftovers for dinner tonight since the kids will not be here. I'll make some rice to go with.

Wanted to tell you, I love you all, you are such nice ladies and I'm glad to know you. Take care of yourselves and have a good night.

Wannabehealthy 03-20-2016 08:36 AM

Mary, I don't think I would mind living in a nursing home. In fact, if DH goes first, I would actually prefer to live in a senior citizen type place, even if I don't actually need assistance with anything yet. There's usually quite a waiting list to get into them in our area. I do not want to stay in the house because there are so many things I cannot do myself and don't really have anyone dependable to help me. My step-son is reliable, but lives an hour away and has his own things to take care of along with working. My step-daughter and her husband live 2 miles away, but we rarely see them now as it is. Once her dad is gone I don't expect to ever see them. And paying people to do things can get expensive, plus how do you know you aren't getting ripped off? The only thing that would keep me here is if I can't find somewhere that I can take my dog. It would break my heart to give him up, and he is so attached to me that I think it would break his heart, too. Sometimes I think we shouldn't have adopted him at our ages.

DH feels differently. He would rather die than live in a nursing home.

Mary, I forgot to mention that I googled cathedral windows so I could get an idea of how your garage door looks. Pretty. We just got regular square windows. We chose not to get the additional inserts, which do dress it up a bit. DH put tint paper on the windows so he could see out but people can't see in unless they put their face right up against the window.

Here are my wedding pictures. This was in 1981...note the big hair! LOL I wore really high shoes back then so it doesn't show the difference in our height. I was 5'4" and DH was 6', but we look the same height. That minister was really short! The second picture shows more of what my dress looked like, my "prom gown." LOL I didn't think it looked like a prom gown.

maryea 03-20-2016 09:07 PM

Carole - I don't think your dress looks like a prom dress at all! Looks like a very pretty wedding dress and I really like it. If I were getting married now I'd like something like that. I didn't have much choice as I said and although my dress was pretty it really didn't suit me. But then at 19 I didn't know much about what suited me anyway. :D You are so pretty! I know you aren't as old as me, but how old were you then? Your dh is very nice looking too.

Dh tinted our previous garage windows but we couldn't see out except on one he made a small round space where we could. He just liked to use it to look out at night sometimes, like when the dog barked or when the ding ding went off. Doubt anyone could see much from the outside if they tried, but I never did.

I would not want to live in a nursing home, but a senior living place might be ok. What I'd prefer though if I'm able is to have a smaller home with just a small yard. Our yard now is too big and I would not be able to keep it up.

We had a wonderful service at church this morning and afterwards went to Olive Garden as dh wanted to try one of the new dishes he saw on TV. I got spaghetti with meat sauce which was one of the buy 1, get 1 dishes. I ate a lot of salad (dressing on side and I ate very little) before the spaghetti and then some with it so I brought home at least 1/2 my spaghetti. Then I got the second one so we sure have lots of spaghetti to eat up! Great!:dizzy: Last time I did that my son ate it but now he's not here. Guess I can freeze it but I think we'll probably just eat a little and throw away the rest. I don't like to keep restaurant meals too long even frozen.

It is raining and cool today (yesterday was beautiful, like spring!). Sometimes I get a little chilly in church but yet don't want my coat on either so I usually end up just draping it over my shoulders so I can take it off/put it on easily as needed, but today I was cozy in my leggings and kimono I mentioned yesterday. Just perfect!

I was given a Nautilus protein shake powder and also some pb boosters. I tried one with the booster but it was too rich for me. Perhaps if I use less I'd like it better. There is also a chocolate fat burner. It contains Garcinia Cambogia which I have taken in the past by capsule. I read some bad things about it so I quit just in case and it didn't really help me anyway. I have a family member though who lost weight losing it and had no problems. I'm a little leery of fat burners but I might try just the one pkg. I think I might like the shake alone though...it is french vanilla and smells really good. Its a large bag, and I frequently do buy protein powder in french vanilla or milk chocolate....so since it was free, it's a great deal for me. :D

I'm a little aching today ..not too bad, just a bit annoying...think I'll go soak in a warm bath for a while. Hope you've had a good Sunday and having a good evening.

Karrine 03-21-2016 06:52 AM

Good morning everyone,
We had church friends drop over yesterday with a "healing card" that also included a mass being said for my tenant. They also brought some baked goods as a treat for us. They told us of a church parking spot (next to where our pastor uses) that we could use which is closer to the church entrance so we wouldn't have to walk as far. We'll try that next Sunday. We have another church friend who is coming to visit my tenant & myself this afternoon. The friend who was here yesterday is going to go to Costco for me to pick up 4 things as I can't go there yet due to the walking distance. The rest of what I need can wait until my ankle has healed.

Mary I too, need to purchase some spring lawn fertilizer very soon as the lawns are getting pretty green now and have started to grow. I sure hope that the 2 boys I know of will do the spring lawn and garden cleanup for us sometime over the next couple of weeks. Perhaps some day I might try a pair of leggings as you make them sound so comfy.

Carol I hate the thought of going into a nursing home and my DD has said that when the time comes I am to sell the house and move to where she lives so she can help take care of me. We sure have a lot of horror stories here in Canada about the care given in nursing homes. Right now, I can't live anywhere else cheaper than right here even if I have to hire people to do some of the work.

Once again, thank you for all your prayers. All of you here are so wonderful.
Have a good day,
Karrine

Wannabehealthy 03-21-2016 08:20 AM

Mary, thank you for the compliments. I was 35 then, and DH was 38. I am 70 now, and DH is 73. We have both gained a lot of weight since then and looking at that picture shocked me. Not so much for me because I know I gained, but back then DH wore a 34 pants and now he wears a 38. Also, he still had his hair. He doesn't have much left now and what he has is gray, and his beard is all gray. But we are happy to still be here. LOL

I guess if I get to the point that I can't take care of myself I would prefer to go to a nursing home because I know my step-children would not want to take care of me and I wouldn't want them to feel resentful if they had to. Even though I raised them from a young age, it's not the same as being a bio parent. The closeness isn't there. I know my step-daughter always resented that her mother was no longer there, but I had nothing at all to do with that. That all ended well before I met DH, but she was too young to realize that. Her mother explained it all to her, but still, she always hoped they would get back together.

Wannabehealthy 03-21-2016 10:03 AM

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think I got up to go to the bathroom during the night last night. If I did, I must have been really sleeping because I don't remember it. That's the first time in years!! For one thing, I took a shower and washed and dried my hair before bed. I am usually a morning showerer, but last night I felt that I needed a shower. Also, I have trouble all the time with itchiness inside my ears. Last night I used these drops that are supposed to clean extra earwax out of your ears. You use cotton balls to hold it in the ear canal for 10 minutes, then you use a syringe to rinse it out with water. My ears feel so good today! No itchiness. I know it will probably come back, but this is an easy remedy to do every few days or so. I feel so much better. If the nighttime shower is going to help me sleep better I might start doing it all the time.

maryea 03-21-2016 05:17 PM

I wore my other more crazy patterned leggings to the gym today. They are not really for working out but I don't work out hard enough to sweat much and they sorta matched a workout tee my son and dil gave me for my b-day. Before coming home we went to Big 5 as dh wanted to buy something there and I tried on their capris leggings that were on sale..and I bought three. I hope they do not roll down my belly.

Karrine, if you do decide to try leggings, I highly recommend Lularoe over the ones in the stores...they are the nicest I personally have seen. I don't know what size you wear but I wear the Tall & Curvy...not because I'm either of those things (my tummy is my curve I guess.;) but because they are for people who wear over size 12. They have a lot of stretch in them...even with my big tummy I can pull the top clear up to my bra. I guess if I had bigger hips they would stretch out sideways. They are made well and so soft. I would love to just lounge around the house in them, but because they are new and I bought them with nice tops to wear out, I don't at this point. Some people do just that though. I would end up cooking in them and would get them stained up quickly.

Carole - Nice that your sleep wasn't interrupted. I slept well last night too. I did get up at 6 am but went back to bed and we didn't get up til 9. Even Halo...she slept a lot yesterday and we were afraid she wouldn't sleep last night but she too slept in til 6 and then til 9 just like us...even at 9 she ate breakfast and went back to bed! Of course, she may have realized we were leaving and was hiding out then. She does that. Guess she thinks we will forget to put her in her crate. We came home briefly after the gym but hated to put her in the crate again, so we gated off the kitchen and fam room and left her in those rooms.

Interesting about the wax remover solution helping you...I might try that. My ears don't always itch...they do frequently but it is now and then and right now they are not. Even my scalp has been a little better recently but my feet still itch a lot.

We all change over the years, almost without realizing it sometimes...dh has gotten bigger in the middle...he is still slender otherwise even more so in a way as he has lost muscle when he took Mevacor, a med for cholesterol several years ago...he still strong but it was strange how it seemed he suddenly lost muscle and made me sad. He is only about 20-25# heavier than when we married whereas I currently am 68# heavier and have been even more. He was never much of a snacker but he used to eat larger meals, but now he eats very little and usually eats one snack in the evenings. I should eat like him.

Have much to do this week..preparing for Easter dinner and want to keep on top of my cleaning as I like the house to be clean for a holiday. Also want to get Halo in for her "spa" treatment. She is so stinky right now!

Have a good Easter week..

Wannabehealthy 03-21-2016 07:40 PM

Mary, I have taken Mevacor for years. I was never very muscular and don't notice a difference. Recently my cholesterol went very low and I have practically weaned myself off the Mevacor. I was taking 80 mg daily, and now I take 40mg three times a week. I would like to stop it altogether and maybe someday I will, but I know my cardiologist doesn't want to hear that. You hear so many bad things about statins, but also that they help the heart. Also, I have read that Mevacor is one of the least problematic statins. You don't know what to believe. You take all these meds and you die in the end, anyway.

My highest weight was 82 lbs over my wedding day weight. That is actually a small person! I am down 20 lbs from then, but that's not enough.

It sounds like these leggings are really working out for you Mary. I just can't get interested in them. I don't think they are very flattering on me. Every one is different, I guess.

maryea 03-21-2016 08:27 PM

Carol, glad Mevacor is working for you without problems. They didn't take dh off of it because of the muscle wasting, they took him off of it because of bad kidney labs. But the muscle wasting is related to problems with the kidney and of course that is what I observed without realizing it was caused by the drug. I remember I didn't want to say anything to him about it but wondered why it was happening so fast. I didn't relate it to the drug until the dr called to tell him to stop it. This happened in his early or early 60s I think.

glynne 03-21-2016 11:31 PM

Good evening GG's,

Whew ~ it's been a busy time and I haven't had a chance to get here for several days. We were away and there was no wifi where we were. I had my phone and could read, but too hard to post using that.

We went to the coast for a couple days with Sara and the kids ~ it was spring break for them from school. Sara's ex was supposed to be moving out of her house on the weekend. She mentioned going to the beach, so we thought that was a great idea ~ it would get her away from there when he was moving out ~ so that he wouldn't be able to “work” on her ~ making her feel all bummed and guilty and possibly cause her to change her mind and let him stay.

We had a nice time. It was kind of chilly, so we were only able to spend one day down playing in the water. It was just nice hanging out and getting to visit. Corbin's girlfriend came too, so that was fun. We got back yesterday evening. Good to be home. It was fun, but tiring.

Got up early this morning to go with Jason to an appointment at the Texas DARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services) office. He has injured his back and is on light duty at work. He has had back problems for several years now and it is just kind of getting worse as he gets older. He is worried that he will not last the remaining years of his working life and be able to do the kind of work he does now. This department helps people get retrained so they can do some other kind of work and be able to continue to be employed and not become disabled and unable to work. So, he is getting that process started.

I hope things will maybe slow down a little bit now.

Forgive me ~ guess I will catch up on the personals tomorrow.

Hope you all rest well again tonight.

Karrine 03-22-2016 06:00 AM

Good morning everyone,
Good news this morning in that I feel a difference in my ankle. It doesn't hurt quite as much when walking so far. Hope it lasts all day. My tenant was at her doctor's yesterday and now that she is walking with a cane and has a very bad time getting in and out of the car she got a form that will enable her to obtain a disability parking permit. I think that will help quite a bit. I am making a tuna casserole for dinner tonight but I need to purchase some egg noodles for it which I'll do this morning. I have the rest of the ingredients on hand so I won't have to walk very far to get what I need.

Carol If I ever get to the point where I can't get myself to the washroom on my own steam then I wouldn't want to burden my daughter with trying to take care of me but would rather go into a nursing home at that point.

Mary I think I would like to wait until I've lost at least another 25 lbs. before I would consider leggings. I used to wear them many years ago when they were in style but back then none of them had patterns. I am 5'6" tall; big boned and as you can see from my information I am very heavy right now but I know I would enjoy them as they look so comfy.

Gayle Good for you in getting away for a couple of days especially with Sara while her ex moves out. That is good that she isn't around while he is moving and let's hope she never lets him move back in.

Have a good day everyone,
Karrine

glynne 03-22-2016 12:23 PM

Good morning GG's,

It is a nice sun shiny day here today. The temperature is supposed to be up in the 70's by the afternoon ~ I'm thinking maybe I will try to go out and walk this afternoon.

Karrine ~ glad your ankle is feeling better. I'm glad your tenant is going to be able to get that disability parking permit. The tuna casserole you have planned sounds yummy. The people at your church sound very nice ~ saying a mass for your tenant (does she have a name we can use instead of always calling her ~ your tenant?) and getting some things for you at the store.

Mary ~ glad you are enjoying your leggins. They sure sound comfortable. Glad you will get together with family for Easter. I am wondering if now that Sara's ex is out of the house ~ maybe we will be able to have holidays with her again. She has custody of the kids and he has certain weekends (like the 1st and 3rd or something like that) and Thursday evenings, plus some of the holidays, but I can't remember which ones. I look forward to getting to have holidays with them again. Thank you for sharing your wedding picture. Your dress was pretty ~ you two look so young.

Carol Sue ~ glad you had such a good rest the other night. Thank you for sharing your wedding picture also. You guys look so young too. Your dress was really pretty. On the subject of care when I am old ~ I have mixed emotions about it. I don't really want to go to a nursing home ~ like Karrine ~ I've heard horror stories about those places, but I don't want to be a burden to my kids either. My husband wants to go to a place like his father and his wife went to. It has different levels of care as a person's needs change ~ starting with independent living, to assisted living, to nursing home or memory care if needed. When I get to that age and as much as I would miss the freedom of being in my own home, I guess it would be of some comfort to have that all lined up ~ especially if he should be the one to go first ~ things would be in place and I wouldn't be stressing out trying to figure all that out. I don't have a clue about how to take care of anything as he has always done it. And I think they said that once you get into one of those places, they keep you until the end ~ that they can't turn you out. That would be less worry for us and the kids wouldn't be left to figure out what to do.

Sandy ~ how is your knee doing? Glad you are able to get those shots to help. I have the same trouble with clothes/tops. Things that look good on taller people don't look good on me because I am short. I used to be about 5'2”, but have shrunk to 5' even. I usually have to shorten everything ~ tops, sleeves, pants. It is funny ~ those capri length pants are almost as long as regular pants on me.

Guess I'd better get off here. Hope you all are having a good day.

maryea 03-22-2016 01:02 PM

We are dog sitting this morning for someone else, but only for a few hours. I don't think Halo even knows she's here. Funny sometimes her nose is so sensitive and other times it's not. We were going to the gym but dh didn't sleep well so he is going to rest in his recliner a while. So I didn't get to wear my new capris I got yesteday.;) After he rests, we will go out to do some shopping. I only got the main bathroom weekly cleaned yesterday so hope today to work in our bedroom and the adjoining bath. Last night we just had leftovers again, but tonight I plan to prepare salmon (part of the steel head dh's caught) and roast veggies.

The top I had ordered came yesterday but I didn't like it at all so am returning it and exchanging for another in the style I usually wear. This one was like a dress on me, but the sleeves were just right almost tight so don't think I could go a smaller size either. Very strange fit. My dd had warned me about this style. Not for everyone. I will stick to what they call the Classic Tee as it fits me well. But everyone is different.

My bs was 134 this morning...that is not where it should be of course but much much better ...I think it is slowly coming down since I'm not eating as much in the evenings. I have always thought and still do think that it has primarily been my eating that has caused my high bs more than my diabetes progressing and suspect I would need much less meds if I just could get myself to eat less consistently. Last night I went to bed early...10 pm..so didn't snack much.

Glynne - Hope things work out well for your dd and that you can all be together for holidays again. I love it when we can all get together.
I feel that we should prob make some change of housing at some point too but it sure is difficult to take the steps. We love our old home and want to fix it up and stay here as long as we can, but realistically I know I that I cannot stay here alone unless I get a lot of help from the kids and they have their own lives and financial issues.

Karrine - So glad your ankle is starting to improve. Those disable parking permits are so helpful. I hate it when I see them being abused because some really need those spaces. We found that out when dh fractured his leg in 2010. He was only eligible for a few months but we sure appreciated it.
He used to complain about all the disabled spaces (he thought there were too many) but no more. Glad your tenant is able to get one. Understand about the leggings.

Have a good day!

Here I am again ~ probably procrastination in action by being here again.:o Maybe I am just feeling in a gabby kind of mood.

I have been having a nice day so far. Just kind of taking it easy and catching up on communicating, kind of resting a bit. This go, go, go that my husband does is exhausting. I don't know how he does it. If he is tired too, he never lets on or doesn't want to admit it. We watch Maddie a lot of the time and that is ok, until it runs into after hours. I'm glad we can help Sara, but I end up feeling (when Maddie is here beyond the regular times) that I can't relax and get to rest. Am I weird or anything? It is not that Maddie is difficult or anything ~ I just sort of can't let go and relax when anyone else is here ~ even though I love them and am glad to see them. I think I get run down when I can't relax and rest.

I had been sharing with my daughter about my struggles with my PT exercises. My intentions were good ~ that I would keep up with them, but my track record and self discipline problems took over and little by little I did less and less of the program until I was no longer doing any of it. The PT lady told me I would need to do them every day for the rest of my life to keep that sciatic pain under control. I would get to feeling guilty and try to resume them, and would end up in pain. That was puzzling and discouraging to me. How something that was supposed to help me would cause me pain. Because our insurance changed at the first of the year, I can no longer go to that same place to do PT and I really didn't want to start with another place. My PT lady had said that even though I couldn't come back to her place, that I could email her and she would always be willing to help me. So, my daughter encouraged me to reach out to her. I told Sara I was ashamed and embarrassed to admit to the PT lady that I had not kept up with the exercises and Sara said she was sure that I was not the first or only one who didn't keep up with the exercises. So, I sent an email to the PT lady this morning and she agreed with Sara that others also don't keep up with the exercises. She asked me some questions and is going to give me guidance as to how to go about getting back with the program.

I should be working on cooking some foods, but am not really feeling in the mood to do that. Maybe I will do that easy bean casserole. Thank goodness there is some of the soup left that I had made. I froze it while we were gone to the coast.

Ok, I'd better get something done.

Gayle Let us make a deal with each other about PT. I was told the same thing and didn't follow thru. I'm heavier, and afraid I'm loosing muscle that I worked so hard to build up. THat may be why my knee is doing some funny popping and snapping. I just imagine the ligaments snapping and REALLY leaving me in a bind.
Glad Sara has the place back so she can enjoy the kids. Wouldn't it be great to be able to go to visit and enjoy yourself!!!!

Mary I imagine my stomach is very large, too, but the rest of me is also so it doesn't cause anything to roll down. Besides my backend is large enough to support anything - funny that I still feel uncomfortable chairs even with all that padding.
Going to bed earlier does help curb the snacking, I've noticed that, too.

CarolSueWOW. Going all night? What marvelous sleep you've had. Wonder what made the difference?

Today's walk under our rare very, very blue skies was reviving. I used to walk 4 miles in an hour every day. Today I did great to get 3/4 mile, but I did so enjoy it. We have so much cloudy weather here that solar panels don't do very well. DH is an engineer who designed heating and cooling systems. A man with lots of money asked him to design a system of solar panels even when told that it would take over 20 years to get his money back in savings. He insisted so he has the panels, if he is even still alive.

Geothermal works fantastic here. DH and DS designed several fantastic systems for some of our schools and they have really, really had savings. One had enough to be able to brick the entire school with the savings!!!!

Hoping our new ferny Japanese Maple comes out soon. Guaranteed for 1 year when they panted it, but shows little life yet. Daffodils blooming have me impatient for spring. Pretty young Service Berry out my window shows buds that should open by Easter. DH mowed the lawn every week since end of January (whether it needed it or not) He has put on lime, seeded it, weeded it, and put on Scott's mix. That grass is absolutely beautiful, the envy of the neighborhood. Some neighbors are lucky if they have any green at all. Thank goodness one neighbor has Scott's coming to fertilize during the growing season and it has really improved his place.

DH has more energy at 82 that some teen age kids ever have. He is always looking for "something to do." I've always hoped I can get all the things done I must do and look for time rather than more to do.

Good morning everyone,
My friend picked up a large package of lean ground beef at Costco for me so this morning I'll portion it out into 1-1/2 lb. packages and freeze it and will make about 12 hamburger patties with part of it. I also want to sweep my front porch as there are plenty of deed leaves that have blown into it during late fall and winter. With my ankle feeling a bit better I'm sure I'll be ok to at least do that much. I'll tackle sweeping out the garage perhaps in another week.

Gayle My tenant's name is Nancy but everyone just calls her Nan. I'll refer to her as Nan from now on. We have facilities here too that have different levels of care but are they ever expensive. I suppose the proceeds from the sale of my house would help me to stay there but at $3,000 to $4,000 per month there sure wouldn't be much of an inheritance left for my daughter. That's great that your PT lady is going to help you get back on track with your exercises.

Mary I agree that when you find the right fit for your own body in a top or leggings it is best to stay with that then to try something different.

Sandy That's great that you were able to walk 3/4 of a mile and that your DH still has lots of energy at 82 years of age. I see some solar panels around here that people have installed but not very many. When you are older I don't think you would retrieve your initial cost outlay for them but if I were younger and had the money I would look into it.

Have a good day everyone,
Karrine
