Dee it's maddening when one loses a long post  How did you do with you :nono: list? I forgot as quickly as I typed it and ate frosted flakes but my daughter said, "you aren't supposed to be eating those", so I gave the bag to her to put away :) I'll have to look up the cocoa lava recipe. It sounds good
April Go YOU on driving away from McDonald's :high: I see your schedule is crazy like mine. I wake up at 1:15am for work :) I wish I could help you on that craving. I actually started buying sweet and salty popcorn but had to stop because I would eat most of the bag before I got down the highway. My son is finishing the last bag that I bought :) I've never had a date. Do they keep you regular? Hi Kat  I was up .3 this morning due to only 3hrs and 19mins of sleep. I have Bible study on Wednesdays and typically come home and nap before church but yesterday my husband was home which is rare so I stayed up chit chatting with him longer than I had planned. |
Hi Emmy

Hi Emmy how are you? |
Hello Ladies:
Thank you all for your support in resisting McDonalds! It was like that old country song: "Shut up and drive, don't look in the mirror..." LOL Just a quick check in as I'm getting ready for a long stretch at work. Yes, Love2b, I do have a crazy schedule! 3p to 3:30a today and tomorrow, then 3p to 11:30p Sun and Mon. I'm tired just thinking about it! I hope you all have a great weekend! April |
I have a McDonald's breakfast burrito every Sunday on the way to church. I count it as 8pts. as I figure it can't be anymore than that and though it may be less, I would rather err on the side of counting it too high. My biggest struggle is the 2 days a week that I am unable to drink all my water because I don't want to have to walk out of where I have to be on those days to use the restroom. LOL I never expect to see any loss on Monday mornings or Friday mornings. =)

Rennie - hope you catch up on your rest! I hate being in a daze all day because I am tired from lack of sleep.
April - that IS a crazy schedule! Makes my head spin, just thinking about it! Sending  to Dee, Emerald, and PQ! I did better today controlling my calories. Probably won't see the couple of pounds I added back on from overdoing it the past few days drop off until I keep in control for a week. I learned the hard way to catch it now, than to wait until it gets up too far. I could kick myself sometimes for losing almost 60 lbs some years ago and then regaining all of it back. But, that was a learning experience for me. Not going to let it happen this time! |
Morning ladies!
I ended my little "maintenance" cal kickstart Wednesday. The water weight as dropped by 1.8 lbs since, although I sabotaged it a little last night with salty toppings on our homemade pizza. At least the scale didn't go up, but stayed the same this morning. I've got 2 lbs to go to get back where I was before my little NYC trip and extra days off plan. For those that don't know, I had plateaued for two months with my weight loss even though I had actually increased my activity/exercise. Besides trying to kickstart the weight loss, I just needed a break from counting calories and constantly worrying about food choices. I had started eating a little too much bread and pasta before I took the break and a lot more during the break :), but it didn't do any real damage. I did walk a LOT in NYC , but not at all this past week. I did do a little gardening and light chores around the house. I only gained 4 lbs of water weight (the day after dinner and margarita at a Mexican restaurant) at my highest, so I think I can do this every three or four months for holidays or vacations and not worry too much. Now, it's still too early to know if this little experiment worked. I have to wait until I lose the other two lbs and then see how long it takes to start losing new pounds eating at a deficit. I have a good feeling about it. If anything it's pulled me back in from the store-bought bread line.....I was eating a lot of grilled cheese on "diet" bread with a hundred ingredients that sound like they come from my chemical storage room at work! Back to making my own on Sunday (thank goodness for bread machines to prepare the dough for me). I also started back on the Doctor-approved supplements I had been taken and stopped in May (ran out and never bought more). My hair started thinning, my skin was breaking out, etc....things seem to be getting back to "normal." Right before my plateau kicked in completely, Aunt Flo was getting off her usual visiting schedule, and I thought here comes menopause. Doc seems to think it's more from weight loss since I have no other symptoms. Everything went back on schedule during my first vacay in June (I was eating off plan at maintenance). Good luck Kat with reigning in those calories. It's so much easier to get control early on. Lurch hope you get enough rest this weekend. I know how that can sabotage calorie control as well. Rennie, Emerald hey there! |
PQ - hope you were able to drop those "experiment pounds" and have started losing again. I think we all need a break now and then to relax from being strict with ourselves. I think it is a good way to find out how maintenance will be when we get there.
I had a great NSV this past Friday! I had a checkup on Thursday and they drew blood and I also wanted them to check my cholesterol. I have never been under 200 total cholesterol since the first time it was checked. Well, I was excited to see the results on Friday and it was 191!!! Two things I have been doing for about 6 months are drinking pomegranate juice every day and taking a supplement called Glisodin - article about it can be found here http://www.plthealth.com/products/glisodin I really do think they have helped improve my cholesterol numbers. |
Just a quickie tonight...
I dropped all of the experiment weight in seven days. I'm now 0.6 lbs from my all time low. At this rate, I should have a new low soon! Cheers! |
New to this community!
New here! Approaching 50 and having a heck of a time taking off any weight. If I do lose, it's usually just a couple pounds followed by gaining more than that. I started a new job over a year ago that is VERY sedentary. I used to easily get 10k steps/day when I worked as a floor nurse, but now I have a phone job and struggle to reach 6k steps/day. I have gained more than 10 pounds total since starting the new job, and 20 pounds gained in the past 2 years. I'm hoping to find some support and accountability here. :)

I love McDonald's breakfast. In fact, it's the only thing I will eat from there. At one job, there was a McDonald's nearby, and I used to stop for a McDonald's breakfast sandwich every morning. If they were BOGO or 2 Fer, I would get 2. When I went to the next job there was no McDonald's or any other place to stop on the way. You'd have thought I would have lost weight, but I didn't. I was getting those same calories from somewhere.

Good Afternoon All!
Brie: Web MD has a good calorie calculator for weight loss. It uses information besides height and weight and age, ie: goal weight, pants size, activity level, etc, to determine the number of calories which should result in safe weight loss. Just type in "WebMD calorie calculator" and you will find it. :) Love2kwilt: Welcome! I hope you find a great support system here! PQ: Did you hit your all time low? The rain is a great relief, but I confess, it has made me lazy and I haven't been out walking much at all! Hi Kat, Love2b, Emerald, Carol Sue and everyone else! I've been feeling sorta funky, hope to shake it soon! |
Evening ladies! Welcome Kwilt me Brie.
I did not hit my low but was up a pound today due to one or combination of the following: forgot to tAke my pb pill after dinner which is partly a diuretic, ate salty food at dinner and didn't drink my usual water after, Aunt Flo is set to arrive in a few days and she's sending advance notice. Oh well, patience I guess. I did well on my calories early today but overdid it a little at dinner. I still ended with at least a 250-cal deficit but should not have had the extra protein. Tomorrow I'm eating lunch with hubs, so no breakfast for me. |
