How Many Calories for 2 pound loss

I am currently 50 1/2 years old, 274 pounds and 5'5". Just recovering from back surgery so basically sedentary, since I can't work out yet. Is there anyone near my stats that would share how many calories you are consuming and what kind of results you are getting? I would like to see 2 pounds loss per week. I have done calculators and they all tell me something different, so I thought I would ask the people that are doing it successfully! Thanks!

Cheryl, I usually hear to cut out 500 calories per day, but I think it's different for each person. If you sign up for an online program like My Fitness Pal or Fitday, it will tell you how many calories you should aim for based on your height, weight and age. When you first start out, you will lose quickly, then it will slow down, hopefully to a steady pace. Some people get anxious to see a loss and cut back too far. That's not a good idea, because if you aren't eating enough you will get hungry and end up binging. Eat foods that give you the best bang for your buck. Slow and steady wins the race.

Good luck to you.
