Oh my dear Cajun! I am so sorry for you and your family. Dogs are so integral to our family's identity and sense of well being,
I have had a sober sane week so far. I celebrated a milestone with my sisters family and although there was mounds of food and booze i did not stray of course. I danced and socialized and had an empowering time.
I have gone to Zumba 3 times this week And I am feeling healthy strong and normal.

I notice a lot of people are using Almond Milk lately. Are there nutritional benefits or does it just taste more appealing than cows milk. I have never tried it. I like milk, but I have allergies and milk seems to cause more mucus production and I cough more. Would Almond Milk do the same?

I am a vegan.
I like to use Almond milk because it is low in calories. It is soy less,(soy is so over-rated over processed IMO)
Unsweetened almond milk has 30 calories per cup! Hello that is low in calories!

Regular cow's milk gives me mucous problems too, so I've used Rice milk and Almond milk. I liked the rice one, but it's very high in calories compared to the almond so I switched. I use Blue Diamond Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk at 40 cal per 8 oz. It works fine in my gluten free pancakes and I use it for breakfast cereal. That's pretty well it unless I'm making some random 'gravy'/sauce in which case I usually go out & buy plain almond milk so there isn't a hint of vanilla. I've never used it as a drink (well, just a couple of times in the past 4 years) but then again I rarely drink anything but water and the very occasional tomato juice (and of course wine, lol), herbal & green tea & black coffee (in the AM). I don't like the soy milks as they are too cloyingly thick to me - I always drank skim when I had cow's milk because I didn't like the mouthfeel of thicker fattier ones. It's pretty easy to find non-GMO/organic soy milks though so I wouldn't worry too much if that is your issue with them.

Good morning girls. Just wanted to let y'all know ds is doing ok. He called dh and I to come eat supper with him and he said he's glad she isn't suffering anymore. I brought him some pictures of the both of them I has taken at the camp this past winter. It made him smile. I love going to his house. It was just dh and I and ds. We sat in the living room and had nice talks. It's so cozy at his house. I feel so relaxed when I'm there.
Diet is going ok so far. I'm comfortable with what I'm doing. I'm actually getting my energy back. Carbs make me feel sluggish.
This weekend dh and I are going to the camp but not to fish. We have done repairs to make on the water well shed. I'm guessing we will be back for Father's Day afternoon.
I'm out of time. Thank y'all again for being there for me.
Hugs

Hi Bobbi,

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I was "in the zone" from 2006 through 2013. I REALLY thought I had it all under control.

Got knocked off the wagon last May & have spent the last year trying to climb back on.

So far WW is not working, but I went back today & am going to switch programs - they have 2.

I will weigh in again next Wednesday & will let you know how I do.

Cajun---so sorry to hear about the loss of your pet and loyal friend. It is so hard.. I know I was so upset last week when I almost lost Ginger-- she spent a day and a half in the oxygen cage at the vet and is now on water pills and prednisone to help her. I have bought newborn baby diapers and cut a hole in them for her tail and she wears them without complaining.. So glad for that so I don't have to shampoo carpets all day everyday! That darn collapsing trachea isn't going to get any better.

Today was a long tiring day. Dh had an appt with an eye specialist in Portland. I am glad I went with him because everyone there was so soft spoken and he would never have been able to understand them. I told him to tell them to speak up, but he hates to do that. Anyway I was there and got all the info. He needs another surgery and it is apparently a very tricky one. Praying that all goes well. I am to call tomorrow to schedule it. This will likely mean we'll have to put off the repeat colonoscopy regarding his polyps so praying they have stopped growing. Seems like when you get this age everything starts happening all at once!

I think I've have done ok with my eating today even though I haven't actually tracked. Just too much on my mind.

Too tired to type more.

I'm still doing well on my food plan. The weekend is approaching. Father's Day Sunday. I think my sister and brother in law are cooking turkey. I think I'm going to offer to bring the green beans and maybe cabbage. We tend to cook several carb dishes.
Day 2 of a headache. It's my sinuses I think. It's between the eyes. My nose is runny and sneezing. I never get headaches.

K31 sorry to hear about your beloved pet on top of all else your going thru. Sending prayers your way with a hug or two.
Mary wishing your dh well with his surgery.
Deelou congrats on breaking your plateau.
Rosey I know how you're feeling. It seems that lil devil is always on my shoulder tempting me. The sad thing is I give in to him more than I should. I love caramel corn. I could eat the entire bag.
Lynn I got knocked off too. Last year I was 5 lbs away from 200. Now I'm 244 and having to do this all over again. Story of my life.

Hi to all I missed. I'm out of time. Be back later.
Hugs

Hola, Goldens!

Quick check in...

Cajun - I was so sorry to read about your pup. Losing furbabies hurts just as much as losing anyone else! I'm so sorry for your loss.

Lynn - I wish you well with WW. I've had the best luck with SparkPeople and the accountability. I'm down 2 more #, which has to be a fluke! For me, when I use a program like WW or Jenny Craig or whatever, I tend to obsess and think about food all day long... and that doesn't do me any good at all. With SP, I eat what I want, when I want, and I use the portion control to limit the calories. I've yet to feel deprived. And it works for me.

So far, retirement is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! And the surgery is a firm "go" for next Tuesday. I'm so ready and will be so glad to have it done!

Sounds like you're all hanging in there!

Rosey and Mary - I hope your boys are soon better! I know what a worry that must be for you! Good thoughts...

Off to see the wizard... Later, lovelies!

Good afternoon everyone! Well today is my last day before vacation- off 6/13 through 6/23. I'm ready to be away from work!!!
Lucinda: Sounds like you are recovering, me too! I'm still recovering nothing to drink in 8 years, most days are pretty good. I always think that any day not drinking is a better day than when I was drinking! Congrats on the Zumba classes, my knees are just so wobbily. I hope when I lose some more weight that I can try that. Right now I am walking/jogging 3 miles each morning.
Cajun: Have fun camping, though I would want to fish!, also glad your food plan is going good. Sorry about your sinus's I know from living in the south how that is!
Lynn: I did WW before and it worked good for me. Hope the other program works for you.
Rosey: What kind of bariatric surgery did you have? I had surgery 20 years ago and I was 330lb and went to 160 lbs, of course if you don't change your eating and don't exercise, your stomach expands over time, which is the reason, I'm where I am now. There are certain foods that I still have difficulty eating like beef roasts, spaghetti, ribs, etc. Well it looks like you are on top of things! Keep up the good work!!
Deelou: Congrats on your loss!
Maryea: Sorry about your DH needing surgery, hope his colonoscopy is ok when he goes back.

I'll check back while I'm on vacation and hope everyone does well.
