Morning everyone.sry i have been mia, getting ready for the weekend where we are hosting a BQ for my grson Tim while hes home on leave and for steves brother and sister who are here visiting. lots of extra cleaning, im a clutter'er and put things where i can reach them. then when we have an event i look at my house thru eyes of a stranger and "OMG" which gets me moving. several weeks ago steve pulled out the carpet as we are going to put in new flooring, however that wont be for awhile, and the floor looked terrible so we painted it and had to stay off it for 6 hrs. well sadie got loose and we now have puppy prints as part of the decor inspite of that it looks better. my grdd has voluntered to help me tomorrow but im just about done "blessing my house". we got called over to the assisted living to help with my mil. she was so out of her head that i thought she was posessed like the movie the excorcist. we finally got her to take her meds, being hit, growled and spit on,after she calmed down, we where able to bath her and change her bedding. im trying to be patient with her but lordy if i ever am like that please pull the plug.poor thing. gayle hoping you find the job that will work for you im sure its very stressful. Bobbie i like that table, bet it will look nice when you are done. Maryea glad your dh got his bike and feels better, thats awesome. did you decide to cut your hair? i cut my own donna hope the house sells and your septic troubles are over.Lynn congrats on the loss, you are doing so well.Karen31 sending puppy hugs for ginger.K3 you always make me smile,i love your wit.cajun (((hugs)) for all. ttfn rosey

I have a couple more hours of work and then it's off for the weekend!!! It's 97 degrees here. Hot!!!! Horrible.
Gotta do a few things.
Have a good weekend.

I got quite a bit done today here at home for a change despite going to the gym and Costco (again). This time we went to Costco to do our coupon shopping and stock up on cereal, supplements and toilet bowl cleaner...LOL very exciting, right? We tasted some perogies where we were there and also came home with a bag of potato and onion perogies. I had 4 for lunch and they were yummy! Here at home I got kind of caught up...In addition to the usual daily stuff, cleaned out under the kitchen sink and straightened out the pantry..well, the lower part which is always the worst. Even vacuumed the pantry floor. Stripped the bed in the spare bedroom and will be making that bed soon. There were things I didn't do (at least not yet) but I feel like I did better today. I also marinated in an Asian sauce two chicken breast and my dh will be grilling them soon. We will also have rice, grilled eggplant with tomatoes and some spinach (sauteed) I need to use.

Rosey - I'm the same way about how I look at my house when company is coming. I don't stress like I used to but it certainly does give you a different perspective! No, I still have not gotten my hair cut, but I think I'm getting closer to making that decision in my mind. One minute my hair looks pretty good, the next it's so wild and out of control, I look like a maniac!

Jess/Donna - Stop stressing...as I have learned in my life, it doesn't do any good anyway, just wears you out.

Bobbi - Fosamax is a drug often given to stop loss of density in your bones. I didn't think it would but it seems to have also repaired or built up my bones as my last test was great. However I haven't taken it for a couple years now and need to have another test.

Karen3 - Are your bifocals with lines or unlined? I always get the unlined kind.

Good evening GG’s,

It feels funny not going to work. Looking, but haven’t gotten very far yet. There are things out there, I have parts of what they are looking for and am lacking parts of some of the jobs. I don’t want to jump on the first thing that comes along. I don’t want to get myself into some kind of mess of stress. I’ve had enough of that and hope to find something that will get me the health insurance, but not stress me to death. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if there was some way that I never had to go back. A girl can dream. There is so much stuff to do around here ~ I would never lack for stuff to keep me busy. We’ve got stuff we’ve accumulated from all our years that needs to be gone through and gotten rid of. Need to get that done some day, so that when we get really old the kids don’t have to deal with that.

Mary ~ sounds like you had a busy day and got a lot done. That is cool that Joe got a bike. Do you have one too and you guys can go on rides together?

Hi Carol Sue and Calavera

Rosey ~ have fun at your family gathering this weekend. The puppy prints on the floor sound cute ~ make it unique. That would fit right in with the swing and I have always loved your stairs made of the tree branches.

Donna ~ did everything go ok with the work on the sewer line at the house today. I will be glad for you when that is all done.

Cajun ~ all those fishes you caught ~ yum.

Bobbi ~ you always have some project going. It is always fun to see the pictures of how they turn out. Funny you mentioned that book ~ Eat to live. I just got it not too long ago. My BIL is a doctor and he has followed this diet and feels that it works and recommends it to his patients. He suggested it might help me, so I got it. I haven’t read it all yet. Looked at the foods and menus and recipes. This was before I lost my job and didn’t feel like I could do that diet while working. But now that I have some time off, I might give it a whirl. Can’t hurt. Don’t know if I could follow it long term, but it might help me get some weight off and start to feel better. BIL shared with me that he has struggled with his weight his whole life. I never knew that, because he doesn’t look like he has a weight problem. I guess he has to always work at it. He has will power or what ever ~ something I have yet to find.

Donna 2 ~ thoughts and prayers for you and your son.

K31 ~ how is Ginger doing? Hope she is feeling better.

K3 ~ your meat loaf recipe sounds yummy. Gonna have to try that. Glad your new glasses are working well and giving you no problems.

Lynn ~ happy for you with your weight loss. Keep up the good work.

Sassy ~ glad for you that your packing and moving are going well, and excited for you for this new phase of your life.

I'd better get off and head to bed. Hope you all have a good rest.

Take care

Attention attention food porn to follow!!!!!

OMG as you, my old friends, know Thurs are my day to do weird things...better know as a free for all day. Around 3pm I decided to use up the apples that were living separately in bags in the refrig. Never dreamed there were over 15 of those suckers in various stages of apple life. From crisp to whimpy. I peeled them all and sliced, added a bag of out dated walnut pieces (not rancid), Slenda brown sugar corn starch cinnamon and raisins. Baked covered for over an hour (filled 13" dish) Then made a lite Bisquik topping and finished baking until crust was done. OMG the house smelled like heaven. DH and I ate some hot out of the oven and were moaning like old fools. Apple instead of a peach cobbler!

BBL.....off to bridge k3

Well dh went for his bone density test this am and will see the doctor in a few minutes. I hope the test was good and doctor approves the bike for him. It's great exercise but not if he falls esp if his bones still aren't good, so we'll see. Since I didn't go with him and we only have one car right now I didn't get to the gym and I slept in til almost 9. So far all I've done is make our bed and have breakfast.

The Asian chicken we had last night was so good! I have never cared much for chicken even though I've cooked it a lot for my family, but recently I have really enjoyed it several times so guess just depends on how its prepared. Since dh was grilling the chicken we decided to eat outside, but about 1/2 way through the meal, a yellow jacket stopped in for a visit and I took my plate in the house! I've already been stung twice this summer and didn't want another one...last time he got me 3 times so actually it's been 4 stings. I never even knew they did that but I think I made him really mad as I was trying to get him out from under my top, even touched/sorta grabbed him once through my top (but he got away) and he was probably scared and trying to get away so he stung me all the way...left red areas everywhere he went on my back too. Mostly healed now but still kind of itchy. The next day dh bought a trap with attractant in it and it has killed several so I see far less in the yard now.

Karen3 - The apple cobbler sounds so good! What is slenda brown sugar? Is that the Splenda blend?

Glynne - No we won't ride together (assuming he can ride), I think it is good for us both to have a few things we do on our own. Another thing for him is fishing. I rarely go with him. I'm more of a stay at home person. I enjoy reading and computers.

ETA: Dh just got home a little while ago. His bone scan was great...total reversal. He will keep taking the meds though. AND, he can ride his bike!! So happy for him!

I have slept in my new home two nights, now and really do love it -- no second guessing my decision. I still have boxes to unpack, but am making good progress -- then need to go back and move things, as I put them someplace that I think will work, then open another box and find more things that are similar, but won't fit where I started putting that kind of stuff. I got my phone, internet and cable TV connected yesterday, but was getting a new main TV and it arrived today -- much better than the last one. I got a "smart" TV -- not something I planned on, but there was a great sale a couple of weeks ago and got it for about the same price as a "dumb" one. Now, I just need to become smart enough to use it.

Rosey -- I totally understand the cleaning for company. I feel that I have always been clean (and somewhat neat) but I stress out and do so much prior to company that I am almost too tired to enjoy them. When my girls were little and I would be on them to help clean, they would ask "Why, is someone coming over?" I would get defensive and say "No one, we don't just clean when company is coming". I guess that is when I normally made a big deal about it, though.

Our dogs ( a 14 year old Cockapoo and 10 year old Wheaten Terrier) stayed at the old house with my daughter and grandson. I miss them and will probably miss them more as things quiet down here, but it is a little bit nice to not have to step over the Cockapoo every time I am in the kitchen (he's part chow hound). There is no barking when the doorbell rings and I can set an item of food or drink on the coffee table and walk away and don't have to worry about them taking a few bites or sips.

The quality of my diet hasn't been as good while the move has been in process, but I have been doing pretty well quantity wise, so all is not lost. I do have most of the dishes, silverware and pots and pans unpacked washed and put away, so I have no excuse not to make real food, now.

I guess this break has been long enough -- need to unload and reload the dishwasher.

Sassy

Just a quick check-in...it's a beautiful day here. Dh was starting to work outside then quickly got too tired so he's resting now. His bp was good but his pulse was quite a bit higher than usual. I worry about him when he gets so tired like that. I wonder whether it could be his meds. He brought in a whole bowl of green beans and several huge cucumbers yesterday, so we were able to share with a neighbor. Otherwise nothing much going on.

Change - I wish I could help you with the picture, but I have trouble myself.

Sass - Glad you like your new home!

Change-- you need to click on "Go Advanced" at the bottom of the tread. Then you can click on the little icon that is supposed to be a paperclip, next to the little white smiley face, then click on browse and choose your picture, when it has finished, click "Upload" and that is it.

We are going to get ready and go to a car show this evening. First time there is no rain predicted in 20 days!!! Except a 20% chance after midnight tonight. Now if the sun would come out and warm up the pool I could enjoy it!!!

Good Hola, Goldens!

Nice and cool here today! I slept like a contented baby last night for many, many uninterrupted hours, and I feel kindly instead of churlish! Good stuff, sleep!

Rosey - what word about your surgery schedule?

Gayle - any news on a job?

Anyone and everyone - whassup? Status quo here. Got the last of the furniture moved out of Barb's house yesterday; Salvation Army comes for the rest tomorrow; appraisal is Tuesday; and closing should be the 21st. The scar from the sewer line replacement is about 5', but they did a good job of re-sodding. We'll all be glad when this is finally over, WON'T we??????

Everyone, have a good Sunday! Later, loveies!

Good morning GG's,

Had a horrible headache yesterday. It was my own fault ~ I was comfort eating most of the week, not making good choices. Gone today thank goodness.

Started my new arthritis med today. Started my new way of eating today.

Sun is shining. Hopefully maybe things are starting to look up. Except DH said the dish washer does not seem to be working, so will have to wash them by hand until it is repaired. On the upside ~ it is just the two of us and not a whole big family to wash for.

No, Donna, nothing on the job yet. I spent Friday making a list of all the places I could check regularly and included the web site links, so all I have to do is go to that list, click on the links and check the job openings.

Donna ~ so glad all is going well with the house. We'll all be glad ~ glad for you ~ when it is over. We know that it has been a source of stress for you. So glad that you had a good rest last night and are feeling better.

Gotta go tackle those dishes now. Hello to everyone. Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Take care

Me too! I just joined and have been reading as much as I can. I wanted to say that I love being in my 50s too! My 50th birthday was horrible for me. I couldn't believe I was not 40-something anymore, but my 51st birthday was joyful and it's been that way ever since. I feel comfortable being me for the first time ever. I know I'm wise enough to follow my gut instincts instead of seeking advice from others or taking unwanted friendly advice. I don't have to search for myself now. I know who I am and I love me! At the same time, I'm very grateful for the people and circumstances that contribute to my happiness.
