Happy Birthday Dee

Hi Golden Girls-

I made it through the shower. I had 4 good friends and my niece and little great nieces there for support. The ice princess was her usual icy self. Mumbled happy birthday to me. My son was required to be there for the whole time. I guess that's the new thing. One of my friends who hadn't met the snot (I really, really, like that Donna!) said, "She's not very warm is she?" Anyway I enjoyed it in spite of DS and Snotty. At the end of shower DS sat down and said, "This afternoon is going to be fun for me. I'm going to World War Z with John, the husband of fiancee's house guest. then we're going to a sports bar to watch the Hawk's game." He seemed quite pleased with himself. I said, "We're (nodding to my nieces) going to sports bar to watch the game too with Uncle John to celebrate our birthday and watch the game." My brother was born on my fifth birthday. DS didn't quite know what to say. I must admit I wanted him to feel a little guilt. I know he will be at future MIL's birthday. Heck, fiancee's niece's birthday was a command performance for him. Anything that is important to ice princess is important to him. And I am not. I'm so glad I had made plans for that evening. I would have felt a little wounded otherwise at how insignificant I have become in his life. I wonder if he'll ever wake up?

Anyway, enough about them. Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes. It turned out to be a great evening - the Hawks even won!

Welcome Winter Rose!!

Had a wonderful Sunday and got a pretty good sleep last night! Yesterday was a busy day...Face-timed with youngest granddaughter as it was her 1st birthday, met the kids for church, then went to our four year old granddaughter's birthday party, followed by a service and potluck with the Married Couples at church in the evening. We usually don't attend the Married Couples group but we thought it was the senior group, but of course we qualify for both.

Princess Claire had a princess party, right down to a Princess sash she wore. She had her hair up in a bun like mommy and she wore a tiara. So cute! She got lots of nice presents of course. We gave her a Birthday Barbie and a Princess Merida. I've never seen the movie but heard it was one she wanted.
She is into princesses and Barbies big time right now. ;) I ate 2 1/2 slices of pizza but they weren't really big pieces.

At the Married Couples meeting..our foundational pastor and his wife spoke on marriage and shared their tips/advice....good stuff! They are a really admirable couple and have been a blessing to us through the past 30 years. Afterwards we had a sharing/discussion time with other couples and met some new people. Our church is large so the only way you can meet many people is in smaller groups like this. And even though we've been married 50 years we can still learn from others. I had little bits of many dishes at the potluck and for the most part it was fairly healthy food but I did get some small desserts. Since we had dinner later than usual, I did not have a problem snacking all evening and I went to bed earlier than usual.

This morning we went to the gym for our usual routine. I walked/jogged the mile in 15 min. A little less than usual..shows what going to bed early or a good sleep can do! Or maybe it was the happy day yesterday! :D Got to talk a bit with an old friend too which is always good.

Rosey - I have to admit I never thought about fire danger in Alaska. Hope no fires start! Praying for rain for you and all other areas of potential fires. Keep safe!

Dee - Happy birthday!!

Jess/Donna - Hope you are getting some relief from your pain by now.

Rosey, thanks for asking about Ginger, she is doing pretty good. She isn't coughing much at all now. The thing right now is with her taking water pills it is hard to remember to get her right outside. So we have had more accidents in the last week. She always seems so embarrassed when she has the accident. I have cut her back to just one water pill a day so that should help, the vet said once she wasn't coughing so much that it would be oK to cut it back. She goes back to the vet on July 2nd and they will listen more closely to her heart and lungs. She was coughing so bad before they couldn't really hear.
Never thought so much about fires in Alaska but will send prayers that you get the needed rain to help with that situation. I have so many friends and family in Colorado and they are having such a hard time with the fires out there.

Bobbi, sure hope we hear from you soon. I tried to see if you had a new phone number but no luck.. Stay safe and sending prayers.

Donna, hope your hips are better tonight. Back, leg and hip pain has to be the worse. Sending a hug for you.

Mary, sounds like you had a really nice Sunday. I enjoy my Sundays with family too.

I hope everyone has a good evening and I'll catch you tomorrow

Good morning GG's,

Sorry ~ no personals for now. Terrible pain in my wrists again. Hurts to type/use the computer. Hurts to text. May not be able to get on for a while. Need to get back to the dr again. Every day it seems like a new pain crops up. (L) ankle, both wrists, yesterday (R) jaw when I open my mouth - maybe that will slow down my eating - LOL. Today a headache - probably from stressing about various things.

Worrying that I will have to miss some more work. hoping that i don't seem like too much trouble to them and lose my job over this.

take care all

Quick good morning....

Gayle - That's why God gave us ADA... if they want to fire you, find a lawyer! And then retire!

Still thinking about Bobbi... I hope all is well with her!

Rosey - Steve is better, then? I'm glad your prayer shawl is going to a good home, and the original recipient NEEDS prayers. She must be a very unhappy soul. Is your surgery scheduled yet? Sorry.... I'm old and tired and forget these things!

CK - thanks for asking about the hips. They are... that's all. I got enrolled with Kaiser Medicare yesterday, so I could conceivably have the surgery after September. I don't think I've suffered enough yet to go to another doctor, though. Glad Ginger is doing better... hugs from SamCat.

GORGEOUS morning! Knock on wood, so far summer has been quite tolerable! Gotta roll. Every morning, I think about retiring. Maybe in January? I have to figure out what to do with my life beforehand, though; otherwise, I might explode from sitting around until I stink!

Everyone, be well. Later.......

ladyinweighting 06-25-2013 07:28 PM

Bobbi,

How are you? Please check in.

Lynn

Bobbolink 06-25-2013 09:32 PM

Holy Cow...didn't know we made national news. Yes, streets of Albert Lea are under water., lots of detours. We're on high ground and the basement is dry. Sorry I haven't been checking in but we're busy pricing lots of treasures for the rummage sale in 3 days. We had to stop with the remodeling because of all the extra STUFF we've accumulated over the years. We're tired of moving it around and it's constantly in our way. Bruce is so frustrated because he can't get to any tools, don't know where anything is. I just found my decaf tea bags today, was missing my iced tea. The mosquitos are big enough to carry a baby since it doesn't stop raining. We have so much garage stuff in the basement and the cement guys can't pour the slab for the garage until the ground firms up.
Thanks, for your prayers, please think of us on Saturday when we try to unload years of stuff on the garage sale. We're having it at my brothers house, he has a triple garage. We'll need it.
