Default ~~December Golden Girls~~

We are about Fun and Friendship after 50...
We are the Golden Girls...

There is Value in us
There is Power in us
There is Wisdom in us
And Laughter....
We are a rainbow of unique wonders,
There is love in us.
(poem by Dorothy Holmes)

Tell us a little about your life, family and goals. What keeps you motivated? What is the best thing that's happened to you since you passed the 50 mark? 60 mark? 70 mark? Friends laugh, cry and stand by each other, we'll be that to you!

K3...thought of you when I posted the Dec. thread, you're welcome. Everyone is so busy, what's happening with you and doc?
Donna...nice balls!
Gayle...you got the grandkids Christmas gifts yet? I made both my grandsons a blue jean quilt this year. That's all they're getting other than some money.

Morning all...am better and aches are down to just that aches, Now waiting for the 11th. Will do preop on the 7th. Still ticked at the chair for eating me and tried to sleep in my bed only to crawl back into the chair at 1am. It's true you can hear furniture chuckle and whisper shhhhe's back! Just tired of hurting and not good at waiting. So bare with me ladies as I whine and groan my way thru 10 more days.

Need to plan a week's worth of easy fix meals for post op week. DH Can Not Cook. I've told you all how he does eggs. Covers with water and boils until water is gone. He can nuke and make a salad as long as you like chunks like chucks of onion. But improving because he washed the grape tomatoes last time. God love the man he does try.

DD and DSIL have butchered 19 deer for their neighbors. The farmers get permits to cull the herds and used to waste the meat, but with my two kids they are feeding everybody in the area.Gun clubs back home always do that. Miss having venison in my freezer.

Another excuse but will BBL . Have got to grocery shop k3

Karen3 - Sorry to hear about your fall. Just what you needed with your knee problems! I did something similar on Wed. Went to get out of bed. The bed started swaying and over I went. Didn't pass out completely, but was dizzy and vomiting for the next few hours. Called the DR and got an appointment for Tuesday and an rx for Antivert, for dizziness. I only get slight dizziness when I bend down etc. DH thinks it's from the synthroid that I just started taking, but that is not a known side effect. So we will see what the dr says.

Bobbi - I want to see pics of the jean quilts, too.

Cajun - I miss deer meat. Step son gets a deer or two every year but DH will no longer eat the deer meat. I've snuck some in a couple times. I love it and it is much leaner than beef.

Gayle - Hope things are going well at work and with the black scrubs. What did they say about the embellishments you made?

Where's Rie?

Maryea - I think I have the same glucose meter problems as you are having. My A1c has been satisfactory but my reading are way high. All my meters give me a different reading. I hate to go back to the one from Target because although the strips are reasonable, they are not covered by insurance. But my reading were much better with that cheap little meter.

Blankey blankey bah....just had my page disappear....

Rosey...Again the pcitures are perfect. Photoshopped did a fabulous job. You shine girl

Cajun....How is your niece? Whay is a magnolite pot? Know what magnolite flashlight is, but pot? Is it like a pressure cooker?

Donna...Blue Balls? tsk tsk And can I come watch your next cryotherapy, can I , can I pleeeeease.....

Carbie....So lucky you had a male voice there with the intruder. Nobody at that time of night is up any good. That should act as a warning for awhile.

Mary....sounds like PT is helping.

Carol Sue...Your fall sounds so much worse. Mine was mechanical the lever caught and reversed it's self and flipped me over. I didn't even do a Mary and try to catch myself it happened so fast. Am blaming it on the house troll. Google synthroid I think your DH may be right. Esp with the vomiting etc....

Gayle...Envy you with the holidays coming and the kids so near. I miss big family Christmas times.

Karen....you,too.....so focused on "balls" tsk tsk tsk

Somebody recommended books by Linwood Baker, the Zack Walker series. I just finished them and really enjoy his weird querkie writing. They are mysteries. Have go back and see what else he has written. Thank you who ever you are?????? k3

You girlies are SILLY........

KarenFL - feel better! No more cryotherapy for me. I didn't feel any effects, one way or the other, didn't like it at ALL, and we decided to just go with the manipulative therapy on Monday and see how that goes. I'm ready!!

I'm having a productive and constructive day, getting a lot done. That will give me reason to wallow in my vapors on the morrow!

Hello everyone! Just finished supper.. Tim cooked cheeseburgers outside on the grill and I had a salad in here to go with them! It was pretty good.... hard to beat Culvers.... but pretty good!!

I've been crocheting like a mad woman these past few weeks! Trying to get a afghan/bedspread done for my brother for Christmas... I have 29 square left to go and then need to get them all put together. It will be about 102.5" X 123" when I'm done! I made one for my other brother and sister but have never made him one... WHEW! Hopefully it will get done and I can get it wrapped before Christmas! I would hate to have to give him a IOU!!!! Wish I would have thought of it earlier to do.....

Glad to hear that everyone seems to be doing OK.... Karen-- keep the top side up! Tim's birthday is the 11th so will say an extra prayer for you that all goes well.

I'm going to get the family together and get a "turtle cake" from Culvers... It is a frozen custard and oh my I just can't tell you how good it is. Just yummy!!! Not counting any calories this month..too much going on..

Tim and I enjoyed a nice tall glass of homemade egg nog last night.. very good and I'm sure it had way too many calories.... although I did use fat free milk to make it..

Better get back to my crocheting or I will never get this done.... Have a great night all!!

Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is doing well. Karen 3, what kind of operation?

My Dd is still having MANY symptoms of the Graves disease. She has an appointment this week at the Univ of Penn with a specialist.

It looks like they might have sold the B&B. However, they still do not have a signed contract - keeping my fingers crossed for them.

I am still having problems with my eating. No weight gain, but no better nutritionally.

Hopefully, the fact that I decided to come back here is a good sign for my eating.

Lynn

Good afternoon GG's,

Lynn ~ so glad to see you back ~ we've missed you. Sorry your daughter is still struggling with her health. You must be doing something right if ~ even though your eating isn't just as you want it to be, you haven't gained weight. Keeping my fingers crossed as well for the sale of your daughter's B&B.

I'm sorry that I didn't do more personals just now ~ just popping in ~ took a little break from some sewing/mending.

Back to work.
