Hi everyone! Sorry about the duplicate post from the books. Just noticed this am and I was able to delete the second one. We intended to drive up north to the air base to get a new sticker for our car today but I came down with a UTI and wasn't sure how I'd be feeling so we cancelled that until next week. Turns out it's not so bad this time at least so far and I probably could have done it. Hoping to see our gd (17) when we go as we seldom see her.
Since we didn't do that, dh went fishing again. We ate the first of his friend's catch last night..it was good. Grilled salmon, grilled zuccchini and a salad.

Rie - Glad the biospy wasn't bad news at least and sure hope this antibiotic will help you. That's great news about your bs! Though I'm not surprised since I know how well you eat. Rie, I usually have my evening snack about two hours after dinner, so there is at least two hours sometimes three before my actual bedtime. Do you think it would be better to wait and have it right at bedtime? My am bs has always been a little high even when first diagnosed and most bs were ok. For my evening snack I often have my mocha (it's a litttle less than 2 carb serv and contains 1/3 c milk and 1 T PB2) plus if I haven't had too much for dinner, I may have some fruit. A few times I haven't had my evening snack and my bs was still high.

Cajun - That's great to hear about your mom..gives me encouragement.

I know I've missed a lot of you...but I do hope you all have a great day.

From 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle (summarized)
Kick the Can

Stop saying "I can't." Every time you tell yourself you can't do something you cement it as truth. Instead say, "I'll find a way," or "Maybe I could," and then come up with an action plan.

Karen, my very limited experience with Sprint is not great coverage. And unless they changed in the last 5 years, they had roving rates. I totally sad no way to them. But maybe they've changed. Also, I've heard business forecasts for Sprint that aren't overly glowing. My ATT contract is up and since they powered down the towers near my house, I don't get reception at my house (I had to get an M-cell - long story). So when the iPhone 5 comes out in hopefully the end of September, I'm going to switch to Verizon because Verizon has a strong signal in my house.

Carol Sue, I love the big dogs. Always have, always will. And the fur balls are interesting.

Mary, WTG on the longer bike ride. I love your statement "Love the new hamstring weight machine" Did you ever think you'd love exercise??? I never thought I would but I sure do. Mary, bases no longer do car stickers - they're pretty thorough on the IDs. Are you sure you need a base sticker. If so, that's way different than most of the military bases now. Also on the UTI.

KarenMO, YAY on using your Wii fit. You'll be addicted to exercise soon.

KarenFL, Kai is fine (other than a couple seizures - one that was pretty short due to your advice on putting pressure on her eyes). Blizzard is the injured one. She broke her ankle nearly 3 weeks ago. 10 more days and they'll re-Xray and hopefully will take the club off her leg. She's not a happy puppy. She can sympathize with you and give you a big doggie kiss, especially on your knee.

In a nutshell, Blizzie is a pool maniac. It is her pool. She allows us to use it. She just howls and jumps like a maddog when anyone plays on the diving board. She particularly loves DH's cannonballs. My dives don't make enough splash in her vocal opinion. Anyway, my friend's kids were playing on the diving board and she was doing her noisy hopping act. She slipped just right on her left paw and broke her ankle. So now no one can play in the pool because she howls and cries. Heck, she can't even be in the pool area because the cast must stay dry.

Cajun, I love my PS3 Zumba game workout. It is a way to sweat!

Isabella, just say NO on the painting and work. You are to relax.

Rie, I'm glad your PCP is taking over. I'm worried about you but am so thankful the biopsy didn't show anything horrific. I hope the new meds work. I'm guess that 20 years after mine and the pups passing, there will be fur floating in my house. It is not possible to eradicate it. Almost like these darn 20 pounds. WTG for you pool team. Kick some butt because your rash might accidentally get nailed if someone kicked yours. So you must win.

The pups and my walk this morning was uneventful. Clearly the idiot was tired out from his "walk" yesterday. It must have been exhausting. Work is ok which is so much better than he!!ish.

Marie, from what we've heard from the other retirees, you're right most bases don't require stickers but we hear that some still do. It is very confusing. Do you know for sure that ALL bases no longer use them? We would love to know for sure as dh prefers not to get one on the road. He would rather drive 2 hrs north and get one at McChord. I HATE government websites...they are so hard to understand and to find info. We ended up not going today because we thought I might not feel up to it. However I'm ok, just kind of tired as it turned out. I went to the gym and shopping. Can't find anything to fit me though...only because of my belly. I remember when I was skinny and my only wardrobe problem was finding clothes tha were not too big...well, if it's not one thing it's another for us rather odd shaped people. I was looking for something for our pictures but guess I'll just wear a top I already have with black pants. The picture will likely only show the top of us anyway.

Hi Goldens!

It sure seemed like a long day today - or maybe I am just tired. I am pretty organized for my camping trip and I hope to be headed out by 1100am. I tossed everything in the bag that I can and the trailer is loaded. Gas up in the morning, drop by the propane place on the way out of town and I am gone for the weekend. Little dgs is so excited that he can't stand it (lol I am not sure that I can stand him either ) I was glad when his bed time rolled around tonight because his enthusiasm was exhausting! I plan to just relax in the mountains all weekend.

On Monday I will head for eastern Montana (Sidney) to assist another facility. I will have wifi at the hotel. I will check in from there. I will get back home on Wednesday and have pool league. Then, on Thursday and Friday, I have been asked to judge dairy cattle and showmanship at the state fair. It should be fun.

Mary, I think you told me that your carb servings = 15 carbs? 20 carbs might be a little high but only experimenting would tell you. It might work a little closer to bed time or try to add a little more protein. Maybe just add a little greek yogurt to the smoothie or some plain protein powder? IDK. When you say "high", how high is it?

Marie, sorry that I mixed up Kai and Blizzie. I could picture her, too. LOl on the butt kicking!

Donna, how was your day yesterday?

Karen, you exercise diva!

Karenfl, how is your knee? I hope it is better.

Well, I am on brain freeze and I need to quiet down. Have a great weekend.

Rie

Quick hola, lovelies.......

Long day....

Rie - it was a very nice day. We had our lunch delivered for the occasion of my first anniversary there (they're such a nice group of people!), and it was quite a lovely day. I did GM's grocery shopping after work, then went to her house and saw my ex-SIL (still a favorite) and my sister for dinner. Now I'm plumb tuckered:

How's the Crud, Rie? I hope those antibiotics work quickly, quickly! Keep us posted, okay? Okay!

Brain freeze... I can't remember anything.

Marie - hope Blizzie is much better (her cast is truly stunning!). SamCat sends good wishes. He send wet kisses to Beloved, though!

KarenFL - how's the knee? I hope you, too, feel much better very quickly!

Enough... gotta gork and then go to bed. Maybe something worthy on the morrow? Maybe... later, lovelies!

Marie...kisses to Blizzie.
Sorry folks, just time to read about everyone's busy lives.
This is the first ever year I'm tired of the apples.
Geeeeeeeeeeeez, they just don't stop dropping.

P.S. K3...yesterday I squeezed the remaining myer lemons I purchased, (whole bag of them) added the lemon rind and froze in some ice cube trays. I've discovered wonderful lemon smoothies with them.
I'm so jealous you can pick them off your trees. My one lemon is hanging on for dear life. I can't remember who said it looked like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree, too funny.

Hi all...just a fly by need to leave in 10 minutes. Knee is much much better. It took 2 days for the shot to start. Still using the walker but walking at a trot.....catch me if you can! Thank you all for your good wishes.

Bobbi...we lost our big Myers tree last year and have 3 new babies. One is about 4' tall with one hugh lemon. Very Charlie Brown. The secret with Myers is to let them get very ripe and the skin turns orangish color. OMG in a cup of hot tea it is marvelous. We can't raise key limes here as we too far North which is a good thing. Keylime pie....ahhhhhhhhhh

Dash just saw Blizz's cast and says me too...he wants a blue cast like that. He says to tell her that he has found it more exciting to sit on the water jets which bubble up. Actually you can call him into the pool when the jets...talk about a doggy grin! Dog pron????

Off to bridge...k3

Hi GG's,

Busy day with the grands today. Garage sales, and the library with DGD. We didn't get as lucky as Rosie. It's been cooler today, but it's so muggy. Hate this kind of weather. Everything feels damp. I know, can't please me, i'm always complaining. Work this weekend.

Donna, glad to hear that you are having some fun.

Karen3, Good news about the knee. I hope the inj. continues to improve it.

Bobbi, How many apples did you put up? I know you've been getting them for awhile.

Karen31, Yeah! You're exercising again and have already shown a weight loss.

Donna, it's been a year already? How the time does fly. I'm glad they appreciate you.

Rie, You are getting your moneys worth from that camper! So much easier to just pack and run! Have a good time. sounds like you are going to be one busy girl next week. I hope the "crud" is clearing up.

Marie, It's so good to come on and see you here again. I know you were busy, but you were missed. That Blizzard is sporting one fancy cast. Very girley!

Gayle, Lots of hugs. I know it's got to be hard for you right now. You know if you need to vent, we're here.

Isabella, You are such a good mom/MIL. You are always helping. I know I will drop anything to help the kids too.

Mary, wouldn't it be wonderful to have to try to find clothes small enough to fit again? Before I got married I wore a size 0. I was so thin. And at the time I thought I was too big. Oh, to go back and do it over.

Carol Sue, We love any and all animals. Right now we have a little Shih Tzu. He was adopted...shuuu, don't tell him.

Freda

Donna, I took the lipo shot for about 5 weeks. I never noticed a difference. However, a lady at my church lost over a hundreds pounds. I think it affects people different ways. I have tried all kind of way to lose weight. I am currently on the metabolic research diet and finally I have found something that works

Been busy all day but don't feel I've done much. Ever have one of those days? Dh went to his retiree picnic...I had planned to go but didn't feel like going because of this UTI. So far it isn't as bad as some I've had but still didn't feel like spending hours away from home where I'd also be tempted by lots of food. Hopefully I can go next time. I called my sister and we talked along time. She wanted to use Myfitnesspal.com but she isn't very computer savvy so we got on it together and I helped her imput her breakfast. It got so funny, I was LOL on my end as she struggled on her end! Not sure she appreciated my giggling but I couldn't help it. I can't imagine how computer techs stand working with people over the phone! Then I wasted some time looking at stupid pictures online...the internet is sure a time waster and here I've been trying not to be online so much. Finally realized what I was doing and got off to get other things done. Before I knew it dh was home and I hadn't gotten much done.

My weight was down but probably only because I slept in very late. I took not only the Pyridium (for bladder spasms) but also Tyl PM as I felt I need the rest.

Rie - My am BS has been ranging from 150-178 most of the time lately. Otherwise it's usually ok or only slightly high...occasionally it is very good. I am not sure what to do in the evenings but I will try eating only one carb serving and closer to bedtime. Yes a carb serving is 15 gms carbo. I also think I may have to cut out some of my snacks during the day too...sometimes I can handle it but sometimes it appears I can't now. Medicare only pays for one test a day, but I went out and bought some strips so I'm checking more often now to try and get a picture of what I can do and can't do.

The Slim Me - Yeah, I'd do a lot of things differently if I could start over...at least if I could keep my current knowledge/wisdom. For one thing I'd appreciate that skinny body I used to have a whole lot more and do what I had to do to keep it. But I guess that's the way some of us learn..

We are going out to eat tonight....another test....I hope I pass..

Donna, you’re lucky working at a place that remembers your one year anniversary. That’s pretty amazing. And Blizzie’s cast is now green and she’s been slowly taking it apart. She’s not chewing on it, just bounces on it too much and its seen better days. Kai sends kisses to SamCat and asks if she could visit. She decided after a 3 year break to help herself to my Birkenstock sandals. She destroyed two pairs yesterday. Why she didn’t steal four shoes, one of each pair, was considerate, but it did land her in the kennel while was a work today. Naughty pup. So she wants to live with SamCat now.

KarenMO, on the pound loss. It’s a fab start.

KarenFL, at Dash and doggie porn. Bliz doesn’t like the water jets. She likes the howling while others cannonball. Or she really likes when DH does the butterfly as he’s quite the splasher on that one. Since I can’t do the butterfly without drowning, I can’t pick on the tidal wave he creates. Bliz loves that one. All my pack (me included) are quite relieved your knee is improving.

Freda, our brief trip to MN was when it was in the 90’s and HUMID. I hated how everything felt sticky. I do love my desert air. And I believe your boy pup would say he isn’t adopted – you are.

Marty, glad that you found a diet you like. What is the lipo shot???

Mary, I asked DH about base stickers (cars) and the photo IDs. He said that most bases don’t require the stickers anymore but he’s unsure if it is all across the military. And getting a retiree picture ID can be done at any base. Since you’re just across the bridge from the Portland Air Guard Base, I asked him if they do IDs. He said they do and that you don’t have to get your ID at as specific base. He did mention the new and “improved” system goes down a lot and to call the base you go to before going because much of time they aren’t working. He said to ask for personnel. For an example, he said our base’s ID machine is currently not working. But I’d call the Portland Air Base to make it easier on you.

Rie, I hope you’re getting better and the camping weekend is relaxing. How you think it will be with your DGS is beyond me but good luck at that.

I love Fridays. I really do. DH is at Hot August Nights in Reno – a big deal car show – with DD. I’m home alone with my pups. It is quite and serene at the moment. I do like that. I was supposed to go biking with two friends (yes I’m still trying to be Miss Non Anti-social) and one friend totally bailed, siting heat as the reason. I tried to explain that’s why we go when the sun is just coming up and it’s cool. My explanation fell on deaf ears. My other friend, my BFF aka doggie sitter, still wants to go but since I took her to her drs today so she could get two migraine shots, I think I will be alone. If they bail, I’ll go for a shorter ride by myself to the post office. It’s just 9 miles round trip. Other than that, a quiet weekend is in store for me. YAY!
