~~July Golden Girls~~
We are about Fitness and Quality of Life after 50...
We are about Fun and Friendship after 50...
We are the Golden Girls...

There is Value in us

There is Power in us
There is Wisdom in us
And Laughter....
We are a rainbow of unique wonders,
There is love in us.
(poem by Dorothy Holmes)

Tell us a little about your life, family and goals. What keeps you motivated? What is the best thing that's happened to you since you passed the 50 mark? How about the 60 mark?
Friends laugh, cry and stand by each other, we'll be that to you!

Good evening GG's,

Two days down ~ one to go. Feeling tired again tonight. It was a stressful day at work ~ not so much for me, but for my coworkers. I felt bad for them ~ so maybe my tiredness is like sympthy tiredness or something :dizzy: I'm probably not making much sense.

The census was down, so they floated off our staff. They staff us for what the census is at the moment, and say that when the admissions start coming they will provide us with more help ~ not. It never happens. The poor charge nurse then has her own patients, has to do the admissions (which is quite a lengthy process), plus has to deal with the problems of her coworkers if they need help and guidance. Some of the ladies do well at that, others are not cut out for that. Even those who seem to handle it pretty well get overwhelmed sometimes. Our regular charge nurse is out because of surgery. So the other ladies are having to fill in. Some not by choice, but because they are more or less pushed into it. The one today was one who has no desire to be in charge but was pushed into it. Poor lady ~ she looked like she wanted to cry sometimes.

I started to post with the intent of adding some comments, but now, I think I will just head to bed.

Hope you all rest well.

Take care

maryea 06-30-2011 11:28 PM

Gayle, I have been there so many times when I was working and I understand! It seems like in nursing it never changes.

Laffalot 06-30-2011 11:38 PM

:) Hi Everyone - HAPPY JULY! HAPPY CANADA DAY to CANADA! (Even though here it is still June 30th; it's 8:30 our time) And I'll also say now HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY to the US. I'll be off the computer for a few days again. DD is coming tomorrow for a few days, DGD is coming back on Sun. for awhile. She's working for a paving co. in this area & is staying with me. Love it! TTYL

Tea Granny 06-30-2011 11:47 PM

My son fell down yesterday and rebroke his hip :( I feel so awful for him, he has been working so hard to get well from his accident, and was only given the go ahead 2 weeks ago to start the physio to learn to walk again. He had surgery today to screw the head of the femur back on. Now he is back at square one, it is just heart breaking...:(

jess1 07-01-2011 12:36 AM

Time for bed........
But I'm delighted at the response about our houses, so I'll re-post the idea, as Bobbi suggested:

"Oh! KarenMO and I were talking yesterday, and I said I'd love to see a picture of everyone's house. We had been oohing and aahing over Bobbi's flowers, garden, yard, and house. Are you all game? We don't have to say address or city, so no Kirby salesmen will come calling. KarenMO's house is SO her, and what I could see of Bobbi's also fit her personality. And we've seen the inside of Rosey's house. I'd love to see all of yours! I'll take a picture of mine in the morning and will post it!."

TeaGranny, I sent you a private message about a weight loss program you tried. Did you get it??????? I'm so sorry your boy is broken again!

Good night, all.

glynne 07-01-2011 08:07 AM

Good morning GG's,

Tea ~ so sorry about your son ~ heart breaking for the both of you.

Sherry ~ enjoy the time with your granddaughter.

Donna ~ the house pictures sounds like a fun idea ~ the Golden Girls home tour :)

Mary ~ the people who run the show and make the promises of more help and make us work like that ~ are what never changes ~ sorry everyone my bad attitude is showing.

Oh, I had to share ~ I was sitting here the other day and these huge woodpeckers came on a tree in our back yard ~ I mean they were huge. My son and Corbin were here and saw them too. Jason looked at them and said ~ "well they say everything is bigger in Texas" :D

No fire works here this year for the 4th of July ~ because of how dry it is ~ they're not wanting to take a chance.

Cindy_Gail 07-01-2011 10:10 AM

Morning girls,

I did my workout yesterday. Really upped it as to burn the calories. I had a decent dinner last night and no ice cream.....yahoo! One of my biggest weaknesses.

Good Morning, All...
Thought I'd get the ball rolling with a picture of my little house... I've been here over 25 years (stable or lazy? hmmmmmmm), and it's MY nest! It's very small and just right for me and SamCat!

Nothing to report. Granny/Mom asked me to hold off on calling the vascular surgeon, and I'll respect that. It's all her decision, and I can understand completely that she doesn't want to do the "hack 'n slash" routines.

More later, probably! I'm eager to see everyone's houses on this, our first-ever, annual Golden Girls Home Tour (love that! thanks!)......

Marie 07-01-2011 01:06 PM

Mary, glad you decided your mocha mix worked right for you. I try different things once in a while and nearly always come back to my recipe. Now you know yours is right for you. The ipad can be with a wireless plan if you want the 3G card so you can use it online anywhere even when there’s on wifi. I don’t need that so there’s no plan and I’ll buy it from Best Buy (they were really nice to my daughter this past spring) or from Amazon (love Amazon Prime free shipping).

Freda, 15 minutes of work? I hope they paid your for at least 2 hours. Shopping is dangerous even if you don’t plan to buy anything. I believe the clothes chant our name until we move like zombies in their direction.

Donna, pictures of the house??? I’m not sure I know how to take pics of anything but my dogs and my grandkids. After perusing all my digital images, there was a definite theme. But I will try to focus on the house. Bet there will be dogs or grandkids as well. I’ll keep your mom in my thoughts. BTW, I love your brick house. They’re so rare these days. And I’m jealous of your bay window. They are so pretty.

Nancy, 10 days of sleeping in. It is wonderful. Have fun with all your project!

Rie sounds like your day at work is going to be great. I hope you have a great time and your stomach behaves. And I’ll give you my swimming cardio from yesterday. Thanks for the strength workout – I do feel much stronger. My muscles are bulging. Ok, maybe not.

Gayle, your job really sounds difficult and stressful. I’m sorry your having a difficult time. Nurses are so important it seems ludicrous to overwork and overstress them. That’s when mistakes happen.

Have fun Sherry with all your family!

Tea, I’m so sorry about your son’s hip. That is so sad. I hope he heals without mishap this time.

I posted Bobbi’s pictures to my website and she’ll post the link later. I was good my computer wasn’t directly under my head as I was drooling with envy. Absolutely beautiful.

DD and DGS will be arriving today. I’ve already brushed the pool sides and now am going to manually vacuum it. The dogs are having a blast running around it. DH always closes the gate to keep them out. Me? I just opened it all up and enjoyed watching them. Kai Pixie Bear fell in yesterday. Her white fur is really clean now.

the slim me 07-01-2011 01:53 PM

Good Afternoon GG's,

Another lovely day. Warm and slight breeze. Worked in the yard for awhile, Gave the garage a lick and a promise, and I'm going to Curves for a bit. Nothing much to do...which is fine with me.

Donna, I think it's a wonderful idea to do a "home tour". We know so much about each other, it will just be one more way to get aquainted. BUT, big but here, you know I don't know how to post pictures. I've tried a few times and all it does is make me crazier. Maybe we can get it around it somehow. maybe I can send an actual picture to someone and they could post it for me?

Cindy Gail, What? No ice cream? I love ice cream and always keep it in the house. I just bought a box of the skinney cow ice cream sandwitches. Love all the skinney cow stuff. Lots of really good, lighter calorie ice cream out there. We have to make this a diet we can live with, and eliminating the things we love doesn't work for the long run. If having it inthe house just makes you indulge, maybe just buy some frozen yogurt when you're out.

Gayle, We take turns being "charge nurse" Not something anyone wants to do. But we all do our own admissions.

Tea, I'm so sorry to hear about your son's hip. I hope everything goes better for him this time. how frustrating! Prayers!

Marie, I tend to get a lot of pictures of the kids too. Not a lot else. I could use a computer expert, want to run up here for a visit? And I did my weights this morning. No bulging muscles, but i'm hoping for toned arms. I inherited these big arms from my mom. Can't change heridity, but I can do as much as I can to at least have big, toned arms!

Sherry, how fun to have your DD home for a long visit. Enjoy.

Bobbi, Looking forward to seeing all the flowers. How are you?

I have to work the weekend, So have a good weekend all,

Bobbolink 07-01-2011 02:26 PM

Thanks Marie for downloading these pictures. I'm going to see if it work.

Hello ladies, I just posted this but guess it disappeared!! I just had to share this picture of Ginger "sunbathing" in our 97 degree weather!! Silly little Diva!!

Bobbi-- glad that you were able to post your pictures. They are so beautiful!!

Donna-- love your brick house. We have looked at a few brick homes here that would be nice. The people that looked at our house last night are talking to a morgage broker today to see if they qualify for it. Guess we better make up our minds and find something that we like or decide to take it off the market!!! LOL!!

Well, need to go to the store-- we're having everyone over here on the 4th for a cookout so I need to go to the store and get some burgers and dogs while they still have some!!!

Be back later... Have a great day!!

Bobbolink 07-01-2011 03:11 PM

It works! Thanks again Marie.....how did you do that? I like see the pictures a larger size.
Freda...I used to be able to post pictures here but not anymore? I had Marie post mine.
How is everyone? I'm behind on all the news, where's Zoe? Is KarenFla out of the hospital yet?
Donna...I love your brick house too, always wanted one since we live in tornado alley. I don't think they blow down so easily. Today it's going to reach a new high, we have extreme heat warnings, suppose to be 117 with the heat index. I picked up some more perenials at Home Depot today, have since added 16 more plants. DH is having a fit but I keep telling him it's cheaper in the long run to plant something that grows back each year. Hee Hee, makes sense to me! If he starts complaining too much I'll ask him how much he spends on hunting every year, that'll shut him up. Rosey...you're married to a hunter so you know, it's not cheap. We have so many places to plant stuff, I didn't take pictures of everything we have out here. Our raspberries are just starting to ripen, I'm going to make some sugar free rhubarb sauce this afternoon and stir in some raspberries. I had to bake a cake this morning for a funeral today, I hope it's all gone by the time I pick up my cake pan. I made a dark chocolate cake, put cherry pie filling on instead of frostings and topped it with cool whip and more cherries. I didn't use any fat free stuff so it's loaded with calories....which is why I want it all gone before I pick up the pan. The scale and I haven't met for quite some time.....my jeans fit the same so I'm thinking I'm o.k. How's everyone else's diets going so far this summer. Anyone discovered a new low calorie treat, side dish or entee? I think I mentioned Hebrew National hot dogs before, fat free and really good. We had some last night with dill relish, fried onions and mustard. Yummy! I had some frozen spinach thawed out to make some spinach dip...then couldn't find any water chestnuts in the pantry so I didn't make it. I don't know what I could have replaced the chestnuts with, they give it a nice crunch.
I think I'll dash out and get some rhubarb for my sauce. I wonder if rhubarb can be picked all summer? Anyone know? I know we already stopped picking our aspargus because it's going to seed already.
You all have a cool day. Geezz Donna, I just thought of you and your hatred of hot weather. You'd die going outside my house today.:faint:

Bobbolink 07-01-2011 03:14 PM

Karen...we were posting the same time. What's this about moving? I missed so much last month, fill me in.

(((hugs)) rosey

Marie 07-01-2011 07:21 PM

Freda, PM me if you want me to post your pictures. I can do it like I did Bobbi’s garden pictures.

Bobbi, you’re welcome on the pictures. I use Photoshop to resize, then Dreamweaver and Fireworks to create a web album, then upload it to my website. Adobe makes the best software products. I like the larger size as well. Can’t believe you bought more plants. Perennial make sense though. I see you got your statue photo posted.

Karen31, you’ll know what to do if the right offer comes in. Do stores run out of burger and dogs???

Rosey, your house is gorgeous. I have two favorite types of houses. Log houses and houses built on stilts by the ocean. Please post many pictures of your new puppy. I’m betting you have a new dog soon too.

I’m exhausted. Guests for the next 5 days means the house needs to be cleaned. So that’s what I did, hour after hour. I hate cleaning. But for the moment it looks good. In 24 hours, it’ll be dusty (live on a dirt road in the desert) and furry (huskies). But for the moment, it’s presentable.

Newbie; I started IP today
Hello everyone,

I started IP today after lerking here for months. I am 53 yrs. old, married for 29 years and we have a 27 yr. old daughter. I am like so many others here, have yo yo ed for years. I am hypothyroid and have been on synthroid for over a year, it hasn't helped anything! I am sooooooooo excited to have the kind of support I see on 3FC.

I am really hoping someone will latch on to me like a rabbid animal and encourage along my journey. I have about 50 lbs to lose.

Happy 4th weekend, it has started out nice here in upstate NY! :D

glynne 07-01-2011 09:00 PM

Welcome Bella ~ join right in ~ it is a wonderful group of ladies here. Look forward to getting to know you.

lynard21 07-01-2011 09:59 PM

Hi Bella, welcome. I used to live in upstate NY, near Rochester. A year ago moved to Cape Cod. Weather is picture perfect here too. Happy fourth everyone.

I swam in the Cape Cod bay today and the water was just perfect. Lots and lots of tourists have descended upon us too.

Tea - sorry to hear about your son's broken hip. sending quick recovery thoughts your way.

Bobbi - WOW!!! You must have put hours and hours of gardening love and care into that paradise of yours. Loved the photos. Would love to sit in that rocker in the shade garden and bliss out.

A big Happy July to everyone else. I'm off to bed now.

Riemontana 07-01-2011 10:01 PM

Hello Golden Girls

Well, today was lovely. My mentor was also at the luncheon and it was so wonderful to sit beside him and visit with our guests. One of them geve me a small lucite cube with a tiny piece of the Berlin Wall encased inside. Lunch was terrific and I splurged a bit on fruit pizza for desert but my blood sugar did ok. I probably didn't lose any weight, though! Good thing I am in this for the long haul ;)

Hi Bella! Consider yourself latched! Join right in here, this is a great group!

Rosey, I love your house and the pictures. Oh, how I would love to be standing in the middle of that stream with my fly rod in hand! It looks like the mountains of Montana.

Marie, Thanks for Bobbi's pictures! Cleaning makes me so tired, also, but you will enjoy the visit!

Oh Bobbi, your yard is so wonderful! No wonder you didn't have time to post. BTW, we have rubarb growing and it can be cut and used all summer. Today we had a wonderful salad: baby spinach, almonds, sunflower seeds, strawberries, pea pods and a sugar free rasberry vinagret. It was soooo good!

Karen31, little Ginger obviously knows that she is beautiful! Good luck on the house - either way!

Freda, I agree with you about the ice cream. Tonight they didn't have my ww ice cream bars so I bought skinny cow truffle bars. Low cal, low sugar but it is supposed to be good. The only way that I know how to do this is to try to create a lifestyle that I can live with forever! I am still trying but it is getting a little easier.:crossed: Your maintenance continues to inspire me!

Donna, I so love your house! It looks neat as a pin! Thanks for starting the ball rolling on this fun activity. I plan to get my pictures done tomorrow.

Cindy, good job on the working out! Good for you. Keep it going!

Gayle, I love woodpeckers! They are wonderful - except when they wake me in the morning :D There was one near my bedroom last year and I was NOT a fan.

Tea Granny I am so sorry about your son! Best wishes for his swift recovery.

Tomorrow a friend is comming over with his pickup to help my son haul away a bunch of junk that has been accumulating. Then a few of us are going to a local fishing pond where I will barbque chicken for everyone and we will watch the little kids catch fish. I am off to finish the marinade and get some veggies prepped. Talk to you tomorrow!

And Donna - your little brick house looks very welcoming and cozy.

I'm going to try and attach this photo now...

morning....Has the sky fallen in? For the second time in 50+yrs Dh went grocery shopping alone.Every day gets so much easier for me. Still loopyish from meds and anesthetic but that will take months to detox from....blah! A nsg service now comes to the house and does the Coumadin test(used call that pro time) I just hate saying am taking warfirin causes that's what we always put in the horse barn for rats.

Marie....I dust biannually wherther it needs it or not.

Rosey....That is the perfect house!

Bobbi.....You not only have a green thumb but must be entirely green to have such pretty yard.

Karen....Did Ginger sign up for pose in PlayBoy mag?

Donna....Sweet little brick looks so cozy!

Gayle....we have a pair of woodpeckers who have learned to wrap their tushes around our little feeder and then send seeds aflying until they get their favorite flavor. They will bang on neighbors gutter until you go screaming out the door. We call them Mr and Mrs. Woody.

Trying to download house pic......loopy setting in k3

Morning girls,

I did an abbreviated workout yesterday because I had a "short" day.

Lots of good work going on around this board from lots of wonderful ppl! Awesome!

Cindy_Gail 07-02-2011 10:44 AM

ok, will try to post pics of my garden.

jess1 07-02-2011 10:50 AM

Good Morning, All

Marie – pictures of your house, including pets, kids, and boys are all quite acceptable!! Thanks for putting Bobbi’s pictures into an easy format for us. They’re gorgeous, aren’t they?

Freda – I think Marie or KarenMO would be good choices for sending your pictures. They both seem to be very technically-competent (oh, and Lynn, too!). I cope... but I’m not good at it, since patience is NOT one of my top-of-the-list virtues.

KarenMO – what did you decide about the house? You’re getting down to the dirt here, if you have people talking to bankers! Eiuuuuuuu, the thought of moving is so daunting! Miss Ginger will go wherever you carry her, I’m sure!

Bobbi – you’re right that I would hate, hate, hate the heat in your region! I would be outside burrowed in among the cool plants… and I cannot imagine that you’ve gained any weight at all and, in fact, have probably lost. You’ve worked it all off!

Rosey – did you win at bingo? Can you afford to adopt me? I do windows… I’ll bet, too, that you come home with one of those puppies! Maybe you need one for the house and one for the cabin? Will Daisy’s nose be out of joint or will she be a good surrogate mama?

Bella – welcome!

Lyn – I like your house! Does the tree keep it cool?

KarenFL – you’re definitely back! I’m so glad!

I’m so enjoying the house pictures! Keep them coming! BTW, I put in the bay window for SamCat. He’s as bad as Ginger and Sissy insofar as being, yes, really, um, like, SPOILED.

Have a fun and safe 4th, Everyone !!

Bobbolink 07-02-2011 11:07 AM

Good Morning!
We had bad weather last night, all my deck furniture, table and umbrella were blown over. My dog and I head for the basement while DH calmly sits upstairs and watches T.V.
:welcome: Welcome Bella, it's always nice to see new post from someone that struggles like the rest of us. If you like to cook, please share your favorite recipes with us.
KarenFla...you're too funny, I take it hubby doesn't like to grocery shop. It's actually a good eye opener if they don't have a clue about the expense of food. So......I missed so much of June's post, did you have a heart attack?
Lynard...I haven't had much time to sit out in the shade garden but plan to now that the garden tour is over.
Rosey...pretty scenery. I've always loved your house.
Marie... is Dreamweaver and Fireworks a paid for site? That was way too cool how your made up the album of my gardens. Do you have to be a complete computer geek to use those programs? KarenMo gave me the site to re-size. I just figured that out yesterday when I posted the little girl angel and her bunny.

Rie...I wasn't sure about the rhubarb. I cooked it, sweetened with stevia and added sugar free raspberry jello to dissolve, then added 1 cup cold water. Once it was thickened, I added a container of SF Cool Whip. DH loved it...I think next time I won't add the stevia...the jello made it sweet enough.

Bobbi, your yard is so wonderful! Thank you, we love it out here in the country. No wonder you didn't have time to post. BTW, we have rubarb growing and it can be cut and used all summer

Freda...ask KarenMo about the re-sizing site.

I think it's a wonderful idea to do a "home tour". We know so much about each other, it will just be one more way to get aquainted. BUT, big but here, you know I don't know how to post pictures. I've tried a few times and all it does is make me crazier

I'm burning sunshine, gotta go plant more stuff. DH is out picking up tree branches that blew down last night, I hope we won't find any bird nests.
Later Gators.
More doggie tips from Dr. Weil. I didn't know white rice helps with upset tummies. I only use brown or wild rice, I wonder if brown rice would do the same?

Creating a healthful, well-rounded meal from scratch for your dog requires an understanding of your pet's nutritional needs as well as a significant investment of time. Like humans, dogs are omnivores, meaning that they eat both animal and plant foods. If you want to cook for a dog, I urge you to talk to your vet or consult with a veterinary nutritionist about the individual needs of your companion animal and how those needs change with age. You'll also want to pay close attention to how much home-cooked food your dogs should eat in order for them to maintain a healthy weight. Follow the guidelines in this and tomorrow's Daily Tips for information on foods that dogs can eat and those they should avoid.
  1. Lean meats. Thoroughly cooked meats with visible fat trimmed off and all bones removed are acceptable for dogs.
  2. Vegetables. Many dogs enjoy carrot sticks, green beans and cucumber slices - all are low-calorie treats that are healthier than many store-bought dog snacks. However some veggies should be avoided - see tomorrow's tip for more information.
  3. Fresh fruit. Sliced apples, bananas, oranges and watermelon can be a safe and tasty treat, but be sure to remove all seeds, stems and leaves first. Some fruits should be avoided – again, see tomorrow's tip for more information.
  4. Cooked rice. Cooked white rice can offer relief from stomach upset in some dogs.

Good Morning!! Just thought that I would pop in and say Hello!

WELCOME Bella!!!

Donna, I love the bay window too!! And Ginger and Sissy are the reason we have a full length glass outside door!! They love it when the mailman comes! And yes, our mailman still comes right to the door! I was so happy when we moved here and our mailbox is on the house right outside the front door!! You just dont see that anymore----in fact we have a mail slot in our door and if we wanted to we could have him put it through the slot right into our livingroom!! We don't do that though because we put a piece of styrofoam in the slot since we lose so much heat through there in the Winter!!

Still haven't made up our minds on the house-- we go back and forth. I did say though that if it hasn't sold by the end of the month that I am taking it off the market-- if we don't decide to sooner!!

Rosey, my hubby fell in love with your house too!! It is so beautiful. You must love it there. I don't know if I would be able to live in Alaska though.

Lyn, Don't you love the big trees? The tree in front of our house is a Holly Berry Tree and just before Christmas it gets covered in bright red Holly Berries! We have people stop out in front and take pictures. It is hughe!

Karen-- I wouldn't let Ginger pose for Playboy--- she wanted too but I told her what would the negihbors think!! LOL!!! Glad to see you posting- Keep getting better!!

Here are a few pictures of our house. I thought that I would post a few since we have new people here. Love seeing pictures of everyones homes!

Karen31 07-02-2011 11:23 AM

Here is a link to the site I use to resize pictures: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

I don't always have to resize so I try to upload them first then resize if I need too. And I always use my same camera and the same settings... who knows????

Marie 07-02-2011 12:04 PM

Bella, welcome and you found a great place for support and friends. We’ll definitely encourage you along the way. Your 5 pound loss is a wonderful start!

Rie, sounds like you had a great time at your BBQ. How incredible to be given a little piece of history as a gift.

Holy smokes, Karen3, you must be doing so much better. A long post with personals. I’m so excited you’re healing! And no, the sky isn’t falling. Your DH wants you better. Loopy is good for posting. Keeps us chuckling.

Cindy, what a pretty flower picture. You’re creative!

Donna, did you see the windows on Rosey’s house??? I’m thinking you might want to pull that you do windows from your quest for adoption. LOL about the reason for the bay window. I’m guessing SamCat appreciates it. I know I do most of the stuff in my home for the dogs…

Bobbi, they are software programs from Adobe that you buy for lots of $$$. They were about $800 for me with an educational license. I don’t even want to think about the commercial price. I work in technology and am our school district’s webmaster. I use the programs at work and thought I’d develop a website for my dogs. I’ve had the domain for about 5 years and have never done anything cool like my district’s website. I do it at work so I don’t want to work on it at home. So it’s more a hodge-podge mess that I just dump pictures on. BTW, I’m going to pass your rhubard dessert on to my sister. She has lots and doesn’t know what to do with it and stay within her WW points.

Lyn, your swim in the Cape Cod bay sounds wonderful. Try to ignore the tourists. If you can’t just remember they’re good for your local economy. Perhaps if they’re annoying, it could be your mantra.

KarenMO, I love your house pics. Especially the pool. I’m partial to pools. We have a gigantic tree in our front yard. It was part of a lawsuit during the property sale before we bought the land. The original buyers were told it had to come out to build and backed out of the sale. The sellers sued them. Then we bought the land and built the house with the tree in place. Who’d cut down this humungous piece of nature??? Anyway, because we built with the tree in place, the original buyers lost the lawsuit and their earnest money. It’s a notorious tree. I’ll try to get it into a picture of the house but it’s too tall. Great shade.

I took several pictures of my house yesterday. So I’ll upload them later. I’ll probably do it the same as I did Bobbi’s pictures since I’m too lazy to resize a bunch. DD and DGS are still sleeping. DH is in a melancholy (aka cranky/quiet) mood. I kicked him out of the house to do outside stuff or to his garage. Anything that doesn’t make me take on his mood. I’m the happiest little camper being on my dog-cation.

hey....still looped and ditzy too...Can only find picture of canal out back...have to have Dh send me house pics. Found the shrink site from Karen and shrunk the damn thing and now can't post.....

Did i tell you this new valve is good for at least 15 yrs? What good is that if brain stays ditzy. Take an old psych nurse and have her seening weird things like labels melting and oozing around the surface like critters. Felt like part of the cast of One Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest.

Bobbi...I was reading Sunday at 2am 6/6 and suddenly couldn't breathe. Did whole 9 yds with ambo and ER. I had fallen Fri nite into a water meter hole and intial was thought I had thrown a clot. Nope my aortic valve need replacement. Transferred to another hospital. Had open heart surgery on the 6/8 and after week of weird occurances discharged for 2 days and a 3rd hospital admission. With the heart failure my weight had sky rocketed to 251lbs and with the new valve, meds and all that good stuff it is quickly dropping. Down to 231 this am....Am not only dealing with the chest cracking which isn't bad, but the 3 ambo rides which killed my back. Hey in recovery no one would listen to me saying painwise my chest is a 6 BUT my back is a 20! Then everyone went over board and got snookered with pain meds. They were talking biggies and I'm saying Tylenol. So home and detoxing self.

Must admit can't reread and edit messages yet....sorry

keep trying to add picture k3

ps it worked

Oh My goodness Karen!! You have really been through it! My Dad did that too--except he didn't do the ambulance. In fact he called my brother when it happened and he was sitting outside on his porch waiting for him when he got there to take him to the hospital....

Love that picture of the canal! It looks so nice and cool!!

Good morning everyone! I slept really well last night! Very unusual for me to have a night when I don't remember waking up at all and I'm very thankful! Yesterday we made a day trip to visit our son and his gf. They recently moved bout two hours from us. We had lunch with them and had a great time touring their large home and yard ...I love the place they are renting! Our son became ill while we were there. He thinks it was food poisoning but I am wondering about his gall bladder. It made me think of when I had gall bladder pain. We were going to stay for dinner but instead waited with him while she went for some antacid and until he seemed to be a little better then we slipped out. We really love his gf, she is such a sweet person and I'm so thankful he found her. He's been through a lot of tough times, and is still suffering the reprecussions but she has been so patient and understanding. I hope that things will get easier in time for them so they can have a wonderful life together. They both deserve it. We enjoyed the drive back and forth as it was a nice day. We sat out on their deck and the sun got pleasantly warm but it cooled off a we were driving back but not cold. We stopped for hamburgers ...these days we just get the regular small size burgers and share small fries and a diet drink....on the way home.

No time right now for personals. I see we are taking pics of our houses. I'll try and get that later. Ours is old and run down but we love it and are trying to slowly fix it up after 34 years of neglect. We've done a little on the inside but even that is getting old again. :dizzy: We have tended to put any extra money into our travels.

Thanks KarenFla for filling me in, WOW! I'm soooooo happy you're still with us. I'm guessing you won't be doing much the rest of the summer. As to the re-sizing, looks like you got it to work.
Marie....No wonder your picture albums look so good, pretty spendy to install something like that. Since you are a computer geek, (webmaster) I'll know who to ask my sometimes dumb questions.
KarenMo...I'm still puzzled why you have your home up for sale?

Marie 07-02-2011 02:29 PM

I admit I went overboard with the house pictures. We live a long way from our families and most have never seen where we live. And those that have visited haven't seen the remodel where DH took a bunch of walls out. So I figured as long as I was taking pictures for my friends the GGs, I do the whole tour. Here's the link...

Hello All!

Just a quick flyby here this afternoon. My friend and son helped me load up a bunch of junk and took it to the dump. I am so happy because it has been bugging me. The last couple of years I have been really de-packratting my house but I was just taking everything in bags to the garage. I didn't have any way to really get rid of it. So nice that it is gone!

Karenfl. I am in awe and I am so glad that you are still with us!

Marie, your home is so beautiful as well as the setting. Keep enjoying the dog cation!

I am headed to the park this afternoon to barbque some chicken for friends and enjoy the evening. We were going to a riverfront park so the little ones could fish the pond but there was an oil spill on the Yellowstone River last night. (about 1/2 mile from my house) It is pretty ugly and no one knows what is happening. Wish us luck. The Yellowstone is the last and longest unrestricted flow river in the US.

I am posting a picture of my house. It is a little scruffy compared to the others that I have seen but I love it. It was originally built almost 100 years ago by german immigrants. They happened to be the best friends of my great grandparents who also homesteaded down the road. They travelled to the US together in 1909. The first year they built their barns and the next year they built their houses. The house has been built up around the original cabin - what is currently my living room. The box in front is my garden box. After seeing this picture, I need to get out a can of paint!

Lynn's update:

Had our book club discussion yesterday – The Watery Part of the World – then went to the movies – The Family Tree. Both were pretty weird. Not sure what either was about. Neither was horrible, just kind of rambling and strange.

Today, I went to South Jersey to visit my friend with Altzheimer’s. Our visits get more and more difficult. Her son-in-law’s mother is staying at her house now. My friend is NOT happy about this but I am. She really cannot be left alone anymore.

Tomorrow, my DF and I are going to the NJ Shakespeare theater to see A Midsummer’s Night Dream. Not sure whether or not we need to bring our lawn chairs. Says “festival seating” – not sure what that means.

Monday is a barbeque with my DD & SIL – I will make & bring the potato salad. I bought a bowl at Kohl’s with red, white, and blue fireworks on it for this purpose. The only time I make potato salad is Memorial Day and 4th of July, so this bowl is perfect!

Check back tomorrow.

NOTE: photos of my town - Yardley & my Condo are attached.

Hi everyone I tried to upload pics of my house and our rig but couldn't get them to upload to the site. I have the resizing program but still couldn't get any pic to work even though I tried various sizes. What size are you using?

My dh is very patriotic...I went outside expecting to see one flag up plus our usual little one...as we usually do that but there were two larger flags! He had pulled out the one we normally put up outside our RV when we are traveling. It's a beautiful day here and he got outside early to work in the yard.

Lynn...You have a very interesting and busy life! The pics are beautiful!

Rie - I like your house! My house is also scruffy but doesn't have the excuse of being as old as yours! ;) Enjoy the barbecue! Are you having less pain now? BTW: I am editing to add that I don't think YOUR house is actually scruffy at all! Sorry it may have sounded like that above. I just meant that like you think about your house I think about mine and with good reason as we have really neglected it.

Marie - I love your house and yard...looks like you have lots of room to roam both inside and out! And the pool..that would be nice but up here there's not much use for one...you are in the right place!
