Hi BFC girls!
Izzy, congrats on your weight loss! You're going in the right direction - keep on moving! I'm excited as I dropped another pound! I've been getting more sleep and exercise, and I really think that helps. Also, I've been taking more supplements for lowering cholesterol that make me feel fuller I think. I'm taking fiber (glucomannan), Red Yeast Rice, Fish and flaxseed oil, vitamins B12 and C, calcium, and niacin. I feel like a walking pillbox, but I would rather do this than be put on RX statins HAHA. It looks like rain today so I may not get to walk outside like usual, but I'll do the treadmill for half an hour. After work I'm going shopping for that new dress for the upcoming wedding ...I'm hoping to fit into a 10 or 12 this time :-) It's been so long since I bought a dress I don't even know what styles to look for. I'd like to find one that covers the tops of my arms because I still have some flab there as well as my upper thighs <grrrr>. Those have always been my problem areas so they will be the last to go. I have been working my arms with dumbbells but it seems to be slow going. Have a great day! |
Good Morning Ladies,
:congrat: Andi and thanks for the pep talk. I would love to be where you are on the scale. I will just keep trying until I get there. It may be slow, but at least it is going. I find myself in the same old routine and I think I need to change it up. I know you are excited about buying that dress and I hope you find the perfect one. We go to the beach every September and I would love to see that scale be 30 or 40 pounds less. I watch The Biggest Loser and I see people losing 60, 80, 120 pounds, etc. in 4 short months. I stop and wonder how is that possible. I know they exercise 6 to 7 hours a day and their meals are very controlled. But you know, I think a few short months and some extra effort; I could be there.;) Andi you are so close to your perfect weight and I know you will be there soon. You are so inspiring and it gives me the desire to well. Thanks to you and all the ladies here checking in. Carol Sue, how is it going? you have not posted the past few days, I hope things are going well. Ok, time to get to work. Check with everyone later. Hugs Izzy |
Happy Friday BFC chicks,
I went dress shopping and was very disappointed. First of all, 99% of the dresses are SLEEVELESS. In my opinion, sleevless things only look good on those with slim or toned upper arms, and I'm not there yet. Also, the affordable dresses were all slinky knit with some kind of lycra in them. No matter what you look like, they emphasize every bump and bulge. I decided to wear a dress I bought 2 years ago for another wedding and save the money for something else. On a good note, I lost another pound! I don't know if it's the increase in fiber that makes me feel less hungry in the evening (always my problem time) or something in the other supplements I'm taking to reduce cholesterol, but I'm pleased and hope it continues. BTW if you're looking for a great fiber supplement, I encourage you to try Glucosamannan capsules which absorb up to 200 times their weight in water and help with cholesterol AND weight loss. I got mine online. Looking forward to visiting DBF tonight who is making a spinach quiche and salad for dinner :-) Carol Sue, we miss you! Have a good day everyone! |
ANDI another pound! great! you are will soon be doing the happy dance. I know what you mean about the arms. Its the least favorite of all my body parts. But you can always wear a little jacket or sweater. I know you will look great no matter what you wear.

Good morning ladies,
I had a pretty good weekend, and really worked hard in my yard on Sunday! Since I'm a single person, I have to do all the mowing, trimming, fertilizing, weed-killing, planting and so on. It was up to 72 yesterday and absolutely beautiful! I managed to lose another pound this weekend. I think something that's helping is I've been drinking a lot of green tea. I'll brew it half and half with spearmint tea (both decaf) and make a pitcher of iced tea with it. I'll probably drink half a pitcher a day, and it seems to quell my hunger. I'm not sure what it is about green tea, but it's in most effective diet supplements. After work I'm going to try to go to another weight class at the rec center. I still look plenty flabby in all the wrong places. My mini-goal is to be 155 by Easter. Have a great Monday! |
Andi, you go!Well its a new month and I am so disappointed, I only lost 2 pounds for March. I must admitt that I did not try very hard. I always find things that are more important than me to do. I guess I had better get my head on straight. Wow another year for me and still at the same weight as last April. That is awful, shame on me.
|
Izzy, don't beat yourself up: weight loss is often 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Set yourself a goal to lose a pound by Easter! Then take proactive steps every day to get to that goal, such as substituting a big green salad with lean chicken breast for dinner 2 nights this week instead of whatever your usual dinners might be. Drink lots of water, and try my recent green tea solution! Benefit: even using the caffeine-free tea, you'll get a metabolic boost and have lots of energy. Your body burns more fat in that state. Last night I was up till 11:00 cleaning my sofas inside and out HAHAHA. :-)
You have a lot to plan for: weddings, vacations, summer events...so visualize how great it will feel to be looking slimmer and feeling better. Then, for every snack and meal ask yourself if your immediate choices will help you reach that gosl. I pack most of my meals/snacks the night before and take them to work, so I'm not tempted to buy anything. The only "free" meals are dinners at home and I usually have a plan: i.e., tonight I'm going to broil an individually-frozen salmon piece and have it with spinach. I will also take a fiber capsule with a big glass of water about 30 min before I typically get the munchies, and it's very filling and good for weight loss as well. I guess there are all kinds of "tricks" so find what works for you. Let's try to lose 1 pound a week in April - that's 4 pounds gone forever! Have a great day! |
Andi great advise and I will do my best to follow it. Sometimes we get so busy with work that we forget to take care of ourselves. I need to really get my head back into the plan and really work it. We are going to my husband's parents for Easter and they aleays have the best food. It will be hard, but I will use caution. It is so easy to give in. Well I hope everyone
will have a great Easter. |
Hi girls! I haven't been here for a while. Seems like you are doing well, losing and watching your diet. I am baking a ham for Easter because my family expects it, but I am also cooking a turkey breast because with DH and I both watching our blood pressure we need something that's not full of sodium, like the ham. I will have a small piece of ham, just for the taste of it, but the turkey will be a much better choice. The leftover ham will go home with my family.
My tendon pain seems to be improving. It is still there, but it's mild and I'm not getting the headaches and nausea with it. It's more of an ache right now, depending on how I move. I have been resting, not doing any extreme movements. I haven't taken an ibuprofen for the past 2 days. Like I said before, I just want this pain to go away. I don't want to be like this the rest of my life. I know there are so many people who are worse off than I am, but my exercising had become such an important part of my day and I don't want to have to give it up. It is so important to the maintainence of my health and well-being. Heck....my elliptical isn't even paid for yet! LOL I just feel like that equipment is sitting down there going to waste. I'm not ready to give up yet. At this rate I'm hoping to be back to normal by summer. Everyone have a happy and healthy Easter. It's the beginning of spring! The beginning of things new for all of us! |
Happy Friday ladies!
Carol Sue, good to hear from you and sorry about your tendon pain. I sure hope that you can be back exercising soon - you'll feel so much better when you're doing that again. At least your headaches and nausea are gone. Did you say you're off the statins now? Hope so. I'm also hosting Easter at my house and we will serve ham. I also have to watch sodium (BP), but will allow myself a small piece of ham along with the other side dishes. (hey, it's Easter!) I've been trying hard to eat right and have lost another pound, so I made my mini-goal for Easter! My next challenge will be to lose some more weight in time for my niece's wedding on April 21. I think I'd like to lose 4 pounds, but that's pushing it. Everyone have a great Easter! |
Andi - I am so envious of you reaching 155. I would be extatic! But you did what you needed to do to get there, and I have been slacking, so you deserve it! I have not been eating healthy and my weight has gone up. I take full responsibility. I do need to get back in control.
I have taken statins for 10 years with no problem. The pain I am having isn't really in my muscles, it's in my tendons. For example, sometimes I get it in the back of my hand where you can feel all those tendons that hold your muscles together. I haven't had it in my hand for a while now...it's mostly in my arms now. It's at the inside of my bicep, sort of toward my armpit. It hurts if I raise my arm up, like when putting on a shirt or getting something out of the cupboard. I did quit taking my statin for a week or so to see if that might be contributing to the pain and the pain did subside a little. I am half afraid to start taking the statin again for fear the pain will come back, but at least I would know. I really don't think it's from the statin. It's from the Cipro. Everyone have a good holiday, then it's back to the grindstone on Monday! |
Good Morning BFC girls,
We had a great Easter with the entire family at our house, and even watching every bite, I'm up 1 pound. Hoping that will come off soon, and that I'll lose a few more within the next couple of weeks. I heard about a supplement that's had amazing results with weight loss that is currently available and relatively cheap: Green coffee bean extract. I might give it a shot and let you know how it works. It's a beautiful day and I hope to get in a couple of walks. I have an appt after work with the Hormone Center where they will give me my compounded prescription and tell me how to use it. How is everyone doing? Have a great day! Andi |
Hello Everyone,
Andi, WOW! 155 amazing. You really deserve that cloud 9. I have been very bad and slacking too. So Carol Sue, you are not alone. With the statins, I was told to take Magnesium with it to help keep from having the muscle pain. I really need a good swift kick in the butt, I am as of today; planning for better meals and choices. I MUST get real before it gets me. So here is to all of us meeting our goals and finding that magic. The beach is coming up in August or September and some small trips in between. It would be great to be down a couple of sizes. Andi you will look fabulous for the wedding you have 11 more days and I know that another 2 to 5 pounds will be gone. You Really need to treat yourself to a spa day. Ok ladies have a great week. Hugs Izzy |
Good morning girls,
I just got back from the dentist and my mouth is sore :-(. Nothing serious, I'm just getting veneers put on 2 incisors that are misshapen (This is a splurge on myself, but hey, I'm a single gal!) I'm back down to 155 again today and back on track! Today I vow to take at least 3 fiber pills with a full glass of water each; walk or do treadmill for one hour, eat a large green salad as a first course at lunch and dinner, and will not pig out in the late evening (I may have some popcorn). DBF is coming over tonight for ham, asparagus and pasta salad, but I will only have a small portion of each. Ladies, we can each lose 1 pound every week in April! Let's say that to ourselves every day and then make it happen - we will be SO PROUD when May rolls around and we're 4-5 pounds lighter and that much healthier! That may be a dress size for someone halfway there now. :-) Izzy, consider this your swift kick in the butt! Carol Sue, no slacking! Ladies, have a great day and eat well! Andi |
Andi,
You are amazing. I am so proud of you doing the veneers and treating yourself. You deserve it after all the hard work you have done to get to where you are.:bravo: You are so right about the one pound a week, I will try and thanks for the kick in the butt. Sometimes it takes someone else to tell you the truth to put you back on track. Thanks! I was driving home from work and thinking about friends who have at some point in their life; lost a lot of weight. Now they may have gained it back, but at least they did lose the weight and met their goals. Me I have never lost more than 20-25 pounds and never have I ever met my goal. Thats just so pitful. I could just scream for being such a slacker. It is so past time for me to get it right. I want to know what it feels like to say"I am at my goal". |
