"new Years Challenge"

Hello Everyone
I hope you had a very wonderful Holiday. Its time to start planning for your best NEW Year Ever! We had cake, pies, pizza, etc. Now let us plan to get back to BFC and lose those pounds. I challenge you to lose 10% of your body weight in 10 weeks starting Jan.1, 2012 and ends March 4th. Just in time for spring. We can make 2012 our best year ever.

WebWoman 12-30-2011 10:21 PM

Hi Chicks!

I don't know if I can lose 10%, but my goal is an additional 5%!

We've had a great holiday, but my twins had a birthday and we had to go out and ceelbrate (you only turn 19 once!)

I intend to eat a little forbidden fruit/wine with DBF tomorrow evening, but plan to get back on track on Monday.

Have a great New Years Everybody!!!

BCL216 01-05-2012 06:49 PM

Hi everyone,
Looks as though mu New Year as had a scrappy start. I have had the flu then it has gone into phuenomia. Oh what luck! I hope that your new start is off and running. I will be back on track as soon as I AM ABLE.

WebWoman 01-06-2012 09:21 AM

Sorry to hear about your pneumonia! I haven't had a strong start yet but I can't blame it on health reasons. Pigged out a little yesterday as my DS took me to a mexican restaurant for my birthday. Boy it was good, but of course full of sodium and carbs :(

I'm feeling good this morning and have meal plans all in mind. I don't track like some people do, but I've gotten very good at limiting the bad carbs and especially sugar. Need to get exercising again ... it's getting up to 50 today so we'll probably walk outside for a couple of miles. That'll sure feel good!

Have a good day!

BCL216 01-06-2012 01:50 PM

Well Happy Late Birthday! It sounds as if you are thinking on the best way for you to go. Planning of course is everything and I can't wait to get back on track.othing feels as good as feeling great! or at least well.

New Here!

Hi Everybody,

I posted this a couple of days ago in the BFC 2011 1 thread but nobody seems to be visiting that thread. It looks like the action is here, so I'll repost here.
-------------

Hi Everybody,

I am just beginning the BFC. I ordered Jorge's book and should have it in a couple of days.

In the meantime, I've been reading all over the web about BFC to learn what I can. I've already set up my account in Lose It! and love that tool! I've also done some grocery shopping; coming from a very strict low-carb program, it was strange to be buying carb products - steel cut oats (very good!) and WASA crackers, for example - and even some Triscuits that will be OK with the prescribed serving size.

Currenly, I am heavier than I have ever been; had a couple of surgeries that took the stuffing out of me for a long time, and also dealing with some neck injuries that kept me sedentary after being a very active person (long ago now, but I loved working out!). While low carb has worked for me in the past, I like this plan so much better - it just makes sense to cut out the sugars! I thought Splenda was such a wonderful invention, only to learn that it was just as bad for me as sugar! I'm not going to have difficulty cutting out most of the sugars but I'm a bit afraid of adding carbs, since they were diet poison to me when I was on a high protein, low carb plan. I'd love for this plan to work for me as well as the low carb plan worked in the past.

I do have some sugar-free (Splenda) syrups in my pantry that I'd like to use up - DaVinci and Torani. I made steel cut oats for breakfast and added flax seed oil, almond milk, and 1 tablespoon of Torani caramel syrup. I didn't know how to count the Torani - I guessed and gave it the same value as 1 teaspoon of refined sugar. Does anyone here know the actual count to give to the Torani and DaVinci syrups? (I would really like to use them up instead of throwing them away, but will throw away if necessary.).

I've been reading the old 3 Fat Chicks thread on BFC and found an enormous amount of good material there; I'm looking forward to posting with you!

Jen

MUFAs

Something else I wanted to mention (and ask about) - before finding BFC, I read some other books addressing belly fat. One of them recommends that certain foods be eaten with each meal, to enhance belly fat burning even beyond the low-carb foods allowed on the plan. These are called MUFAs and they are: oils, olives, nuts and seeds, avocados, and dark chocolate. (Supposedly these foods also have many other nutritious benefits as well.)

As I begin this BFC plan, I am also incorporating one of these foods into each meal I eat (for instance, yesterday at breakfast I added 5 kalamata olives to my meal).

Has anyone else here tried combining the MUFA servings with this plan? All the MUFAs are allowed on BFC - the difference I'm exploring is to make sure I have one of those foods at EVERY meal I eat.

BCL216 01-17-2012 06:58 AM

Hi everyone and :welcome: jensanders648,
Great to have you. I posted over the weekend, but for some reason it never showed up. Ok I have heard of MUFAs and have tried it some what. I am sure it helps along with such things as water, vitmans and calcium & vitman D, The most important thing that will help is to plan. Plan your meals, exercise, etc. and set goals with a time limit to reach those goals. If we just stroll along with no idea of what we want or how to get there, we are lost. If we don't set a time limit, we tend not to take the matter seriously. I recomitted to BFC Monday and did fairly good, of course there is always room for improvement. I hope that you will check in and let us know how you are doing. Have a Great BFC Week.

Good morning BFC chicks!
I've not been as good as I'd like because I've had a major project going on in my house - new hardwood floors installed. It's amazing how stressed out one can get when your house is literally torn up around you, not to mention there's a thick coating of dust on EVERYTHING. I'm back to work but am still re-installing baseboards every chance I get.

I don't think I've gained much but just haven't been as careful with choices (stove uninstalled, etc). Today I'm back on plan and hope to see a loss soon.

Welcome Jen! Please let us know if eating MUFA foods at every meal helps you.

BCL216 01-19-2012 05:49 PM

Hello everyone,
I am struggling trying to get back on track, I have good days and then I slip up! Then I am mad at my self. Boy! Oh Boy! Its never been this hard before.

Hey Webwoman, good to see you checking in. There is nothing more stressful then those home projects. Your life is turned up side down. Hang in there and you will soon be proud of your new floors. Do the best you can and jump right back on track ASAP. Then come spring, you will have 2 things to be proud of.
Hey Jen, hows things going? I hope You didn't give up on us already. Check in and let us know how you are doing.

Ok chicks, time for me to get back to my cleaning.

WebWoman 01-20-2012 09:31 AM

Happy Friday Chicks!

I'm feeling a bit better about getting the house project under control, and made some progress on baseboards last night. (Hated to do behind the refrigerator!).

Something I thought of this morning was making goals for events that will happen this year. For example I have a neice who is getting married in April and I'll probably be in the wedding. Wouldn't it be nice to fit into a size 10 dress for that?! Our family is also planning a vacation in July to somewhere warm with a beach, and I'd like to not feel like a beached whale in a swimsuit HAHA.

What kind of events do you have to look forward to this year that could serve as another goal?

BCL216 01-20-2012 09:52 AM

Good Morning
I too have a neice getting married in April and we usually go to the beach in August. I am with you webwoman. It would be grand to be in a size 10. Please! Let us go for it!!! I am in full hearted. First we need to make our goal list and set a time limit for each. Think about it and post it and we will get started! I am excited!! I am pledging to be under 200lbs. by June 2012! I will
weigh in Monday and full steam ahead!:carrot:

Hugs
Izzy

WebWoman 01-20-2012 12:54 PM

We're On! I'm thinking a 12-week timeframe is a good number to start with, beginning this Monday, Jan. 23, through April 15! (Tax Day :-0)

Think about it...we can do anything for just 12 weeks!

If we're disciplined, we can average 1.5 pounds per week, which is 18 pounds total, and I would be at my innitial goal. :-) At that point I will re-evaluate and perhaps choose to lose a few more just to look better than my sisters at the beach - HAHA.

Weigh-ins on Mondays. I've created a word doc that has all the Monday dates listed until April 16 and a column for goal weight and actual weight...don't know how to post it, but others can do the same.

This actually sounds fun :)

Andi

BCL216 01-20-2012 05:08 PM

Andi,
Great! 12 weeks works for me, I lost 20lbs. from last Jan. to April. So if I can do it once....I can do it again, and that would put me under 200!YAAAAH! Let keep each other on track and accountable. I like your word doc.
you can copy it and past it. It should work.

My BFC Revolution!

Ok, here it is. I recently view a new tv program called The Revolution".The show features a unique concept. Each week one woman's five-month weight loss journey will unfold in just five days, with daily results and the final transformational reveal on Friday.
I thought it would be fun to do my own revolution starting Monday following The BFC plan, logging in daily with my stats. My first phase will end April 23,2012. Then I will continue with phase 2 after that until I reach my goal weight of 165lbs. So I am calling this "My Revolution". I am starting a thread in the weightloss support forum"The Revolution" so anyone can join in and follow. But I will still post here as usual hopefully inspiring other fellow members to do the same. Andi please join in with your own Revolution and we will kick some butt.:smug:
