Carol I am glad you are better, maybe we can get each other to get off the stick and out the door. Lets come up with an exercise plan that we can start slow and build as we go. Let us start it Sunday morning with no excuses. How about going for a 1 mile walk? I am in if you are.

I go by time, not distance, so I will start at 30 minutes. OK? My goal is to get back to 300 minutes per week, where I was before surgery.

BCL216 - I got in 20 minutes, not 30, but it is a start and I am going to add a little every day until I get back to my 60 minutes I was doing before.

I was not weighing myself while I was sick, and I was going to bed early every night because I was just so run down. I guess that must have curbed my evening eating because I got on the scale yesterday and I'm down a pound. I need to lose 6 more to be back at my lowest weight of 182 after surgery, and then keep going from there. I have not been in the 180's in 10 years or more. I reached it again as a result of surgery I had in June and even though it was not a fun way to lose weight, I accept the loss as a good thing and don't want to gain it back!

Congrats on your loss! And 6 pounds is very doable. I've held my own but didn't gain any over the weekend.

I'm trying to add more exercise and came into work early for 30 min on the treadmill here. Will joing the rec center tomorrow and go through orientation for the weight room. I'm excited to actually start doing what I said I would as far as moving more. ;-)

That's it exactly, Webwoman! Doing my 20 minutes might not seem like a big deal, but if it gets me started into day 2 and 3 and so on, it IS a big deal. What I did before was exercise M-F. If I missed a day somewhere along the week, I made it up on the weekend, otherwise, the weekends were off days.

BCL216 10-03-2011 11:28 PM

Hello everyone
I am right there with you on the 30 minutes of exercise, it doesn't matter if its walking or on the treadmill, etc. It matters that we just do it! So I too am trying for a 30 minutes of walking 3 to 5 days a week. If I can do this for 21 days it will become a habit and I will keep it up. I did not have very good results for Sept. so I must make it up for Oct.

Hi all,

Well, my gym orientation was moved to this evening by the trainer, so I hope to report back on getting in a nice workout. No additional weight loss, as DBF came down yesterday and felt like pizza. We did the take and bake Papa Murphy (De-lite) pizza, Medeterranian toppings, and I really don't think it was too high in carbs as it had a very thin crust. Back to plan again today and I really don't mind it. Hope to get about a half hour of walking in today - it's getting up to 70 degrees! :)

Have a good day.

Hi, just checking in to see how everyone is. Well, I actually went for a long walk this morning and it was hard. I have some lung problems and when I walk, I have a lot of painful pressure in my chest and I get light headed. But I will keep trying and hope my lungs will buildup. I am trying to get back on track and man it is not easy. How can you get so far off track? I want to get back to losing weight and getting healthy. Well tomorrow is a new day and I plan to walk again if possible. I hope all will have a wonderful week.

It's a little harder for those of us who have challenges to stay with an exercise program. Once you get side tracked it's very very hard to get back to it. I'm finding that out. You shouldn't just jump right in because you can do more harm than good. I haven't been exercising every day, but one day I did 90 minutes as a way to catch up. I included and counted my weight training routine so it wasn't all walking. I know it's better to keep it at a reasonable amount every day instead of lumping it in one big workout, but I did that to tell myself that this is what I have to do when I skip too many days. Yesterday, I didn't exercise, but we went to a huge flea market and walked all over that for over an hour. Granted, I was starting and stopping instead of steady walking, but the aisles were on an grade, so every other aisle was uphill. I can feel that in my calves now. So I consider that "exercise".

We are both going to get back to losing!

Carol Sue,
Thanks for the encouragement, I truly NEED it. I don't know what is going on with me, I feel so out of control. Its like I have lost my way and just can't find my way back. It seems that everything else is more important and I am afraid. I can feel my health getting worse. I need to get back on track BIG time and FAST!

I'm glad I could help you feel better. I am going to go back to exercising a minimum of 15 minutes a day. If I think that all I have to do is 15 minutes, it will make me go and do it. Many times I do that and once I get going I continue on a little longer, so it's really beneficial. And if I don't continue on, at least I did SOMETHING. Maybe that approach would help you, too.

Thanks For Your Support

Thats a great idea. I went for my physical Monday and my cholesterol was way up and the Dr. put me on medicine and said that I would have a heart attack if I did not do something soon. So....I am back on BFC and plan to add exercise daily. Like you said, 15 minutes is better than doing nothing. I will start out slow and build up to an hour. I really need to be VERY serious and get this done. I had only put 2lbs. back on and so I know I can get rid of that quick and hope alot more. I really appreciate you checking in and giving that much needed push. Thanks so much!

Checking Myself and Facing Reality

Ok ladies, My plan is to replace ONE bad habit a week with one Good Habit. I figure if I do this, maybe it will become my new normal and I can stick with it. I want and need to lose 60 pounds:o. That sounds like alot and it is!
But I did not put it on over night and I figure it will take about 1 year to get it off. So I am going to need your help to keep me focused and on track. Please don't let me get away with excuses for not eating right or exercising.
Sometimes tough love is the only way to get things done. I hope to hear from all of you soon and let me know how you are doing and how things are going. :listen:

I know how you feel with the medical problems. It seems that every time I go to the doctor I have something else wrong, or something gets worse. I am on medicine for cholesterol and triglycerides and both have come down to safe levels. I exercise and have cut way back on fat in my diet, and my heart still keeps getting worse. I feel that I am doing all this for nothing. It is very frustrating. I think this heart disease is in my family and nothing I do is going to really change that. But I will keep trying to be healthy until this ole ticker stops! Nothing else I can do.

BCL216 10-19-2011 10:16 AM

Good morning Carol,
I know what you mean. I started the cholestrol meds. last night and as usual, I had a bad reaction. My heart felt like it was going to stop beating; my joints ached like crazy and was stiff; and I couldn't go to sleep. I am going to try a natural approach. Sometimes you can win for losing.
But in your case, it is probably inherited from your family and all you can do; is to do the best you can and never give up. I will keep you in my prayers.
